In the heart of Renaissance Italy, on the Tuscany/Umbrian border, high on 400mt ridge, stands "Podere Borgacciano", 3km. from Monterchi, a medieval walled village (see Thames & Hudson's 'The Most Beautiful Villages in Tuscany').

Our lovingly restored 17C stone villa offers breathtaking magical views & tranquility, set in beautiful mature gardens - wafting scents of roses, lavender, jasmine, rosemary and herbs. 5 acre grounds merge into panoramic countryside - fortified hilltop villages, castles, olive groves, vineyards, chestnut, oak and cypress woods, figs, sunflowers, poppies, corn, tobacco - enjoying total relaxation, peace and privacy without isolation. Magnificent 14mX6m infinity-edge swimming pool surrounded by lemons, Cypress and Olive groves with stunning views south from beautiful landscaped terraces across valley to the lush green Umbrian hills,

ACCOMMODATION

The house has FOUR bedrooms, SLEEPING 8, each with EN-SUITE bathroom and AIR CONDITIONING

Cots and child beds are available.

THE POOL COMPLEX

MAGNIFICENT 14 mt. X 6 mt. POOL, surrounded by 350 sq. mtrs. of terraces, walkways, flower beds, cypress and olive trees.

THE POOLHOUSE has a shower/ WC / CHANGING ROOM, SUMMER KITCHEN and large shaded dining terrace with table and chairs.

There are 2 BARBEQUES and a wood fired PIZZA FORNO, from which to enjoy al-fresco meals with stunning views across the valley.

Mediaeval CASTELLO DI LIPPIANO and the lush green Umbrian Hills, form a backdrop from the dining terrace.

We installed the finest pool equipment from the USA. The finest Filters, filter out all particles over 15 microns. (The average Sand filter, filters out particles over 30 microns, making ours twice as efficient) The Chlorination and Ph levels are computer controlled. Our groundsman cleans the pool and checks water quality twice a week.

The 14 mt. INFINITY EDGE allows you to feel as if you are swimming in the valley whilst listening to your favourite music from the outdoor speakers.

THE VILLAGE.

Monterchi, its name derived from 'MONS HERCULIS' (hill of Hercules) whose cult was celebrated here in ancient Etruscan and Roman periods, is home of the famous Renaissance fresco "The Madonna del Parto'"(The Madonna of Childbirth) The mother of Piero della Francesca, the painter of the fresco, was born in Monterchi and the village became famous when in 1888 the fresco, painted in 1446 and considered one of Piero's finest masterpieces, was uncovered in the chapel of the cemetery. This restored fresco is now well displayed in the old village schoolhouse.
