2/10 – Terrible

This campsite advertises a premium "glamping" experience alongside basic camp pitches. The photos promise luxury - lovely bedding, a private bathroom, a delightful seating area. The reality is very different. The bell tents are basic. The beds are inflatable camp beds with fleecy linen. The listing photos are cleverly taken, with cushions hiding the front of the airbeds to disguise that these aren't proper beds. They're cold, with no insulation, because you'd normally use them indoors or with sleeping bags. There's no electricity for lighting or any of the other glamping luxuries you'd expect. The "private" bathroom is actually shared. The toilets and showers are a portacabin affair on a trailer, used by the whole campsite, with a 15–30 minute queue at peak times (i.e. when you need to use them). By the time I showered, the hot water had run out. There's one washing-up sink (also the drinking water source) which you queue for too. The seating area is a gravel circle with broken flagstones. It was meant to have a sun shade, fire pit, and table and chairs; we got three chairs, plus some wooden poles and unused solar lights strewn around. When I raised issues, the owner was at first charming and then rude. I left a day early. I know running a campsite on a hot bank holiday is hard work, but a premium glamping rate has to come with facilities to match - not poor amenities, misleading photos, and a rude reception when you point it out. The only genuine highlight is the views,
