While we enjoyed our time in South Padre, I have to say the condo could use a little work. The ground floor location is handy to the pool, but only the kiddie pool was heated. While the condo was fine it just needs upgrading to justify the price.

All the bad reviews are correct.

Good: Great location Pool right out front Beach right out front Large Parking included Couch very broken and sunk I'm Tv's didn't connect to internet Maintenence figures out how to not come fix stuff Vacasa didn't care really about the issues. Ask for late check out and they stated you have to buy it at 4pm the day before your check out. Not listed anywhere mind you. Bad 3 cockroaches Dirty dishes in cabinets 2 trash bags only (really??) Its the Small Things

Overall the condo was great. It would be the small things that may eventually become big things. The de-humidifier was starting to fail. The pump stopped working so we had to manually drain the water. The refrigerator seals were damaged so the refrigerator was constantly running. We had to push hard to try and keep it closed. The back sliding door did not lock completely the door was older and showed signs of age and corrosion. There were only 2 trash bags for an entire weeks of stay so we had to buy trash bags. There were no condiments (salt, pepper...) or coffee filters. Very bare minimum as far as hospitality. Overall it is a nice place but don't expect anything else other than a place to stay.

The dehumidifier only needed the power button to be pushed and it is now functioning correctly. The refrigerator drawer has been fixed, ensuring the doors close properly. The sliding door has been put back on track and lubricated. We provide a starter pack of essentials but do not include condiments or coffee filters. Overall okay moderate inconveniences

Pros: Great location first floor with aging parents is a plus. You can walk straight to the beach from the patio. Leave your beach items outside on the patio without any worries. Cons: Master bedroom sliding door didn’t open to the patio. Living room patio door needs maintenance very hard to slide and lock. Garbage disposal in kitchen doesn’t work. Some kitchen utensils were dirty. No potholders. Remember to bring extra essentials; ie toilet paper, paper towels. The washer door hatch broke second day however complex has washers to use for $3. There weren’t any extra blankets or pillows, remember to bring your own.

Wouldn't Stay there Again

I'm sorry, I don't understand what you would want me to revise. My review is both accurate and honest. I can provide a video link if you would like. I'm sure you wouldn't want me to provide a dishonest review. The photographer does a nice job. The pictures don't reveal that this place is the next thing to a dump. The cleaning people clean down the middle. Look behind the furniture and you find dead roaches and bugs. All the cabinetry in the kitchen and baths is falling apart. The furniture looks like it came from a second hand store and the "leather" furniture is pealing. The place is so dark and dingy you almost need a flashlight to find your way around. I could go on but this should suffice. $5,000 a month should get a little more than this place offers

Great location, mediocre unit

Great location and the access to the pool and beach was so convenient! The unit itself looked nice on the surface, but has some flaws. The a/c unit did not cool very well, and there are no ceiling fans, so we had to rely on box fans to keep the bedrooms cool. The entire unit had a HORRIBLE smell the entire week we were there than ranged from sewage to boiling cabbage- we believe the smell originated from the a/c unit but who knows for sure. The faucets in the kitchen and bathrooms need repair, and the living room is super dim-lit by only two lamps. The window treatments are not blackout, and all let in light. Only having one parking pass per unit stinks, especially in a unit that allows 8 people. The unit had a good range of cookware and utensils. The beds creaked like crazy and sounded like they might break at any minute! The front office was closed when we arrived on Sunday, which was very inconvenient since there was no one to answer our questions. On Monday when we were able to speak with them, they were very pleasant. We had a great vacation, and liked the building, but would probably pick a different unit in the future.

The air conditioner system is completely new, so it would be surprising for it to cause any problems, but pedestal fans are available for guest use. Good location, below average unit

The building, grounds, and amenities are good. A few things about the unit were not good: 1) the AC would blow out sewage smelling air. I'm not sure what the issue is but the whole family was complaining about it. 2) the humidifier on the kitchen counter is SUPER LOUD. 3) the guest room mattresses and the couch are uncomfortable. 4) the kitchen sink faucet is really loose, the whole thing wobbles around when you turn it on. 5) the lamps need to be replaced, as I had to plug/unplug to turn on and off (no switch). 6) no hot pads to remove things from oven! no spices, no coffee filters. All of these issues gave me the impression there is not much pride in the management of this unit. They have made some improvements that are good such as kitchen counters and appliances, and tile in bathrooms. Wifi, cable, TV and cleanliness upon arrival all good.

Location was great! The condo was well equipped. Easy check in and check out. A couple things that could be better. Lighting was not very good. Light bulbs out in kitchen and both bathrooms. No coffee filters were provided. That is a problem if you get there late in the evening. If we had known ahead, we would have brought some. We really liked the condo and location. People were very friendly. If we stay here again, we will be better prepared.

Nice but needs some TLC

The location of the condo is AMAZING! We've stayed at this location before and love it. The ocean is 2 minutes away! This particular unit needs some maintenance and TLC. It was very clean but I needed to fix the dryer - it was packed with lint. The back sliding doors wouldn't operate, were off the tracks and maintenance was off. So I fixed the doors and they worked nicely after that. The master bed is a dream to sleep on. I would stay there again but would ask if they put some money into maintenance. I would tell the owners to inspect their property and don't let it get run down because they have a jewel.

Great ground floor unit

We loved this condo as it was so easy for the kids to go in and out to the playground, pool, and beach. Everything was in pretty good shape and worked well. Only complaint was that the dishes and silverware were not very clean upon arrival so we hand washed anything before using it as there was food residue on lots of "clean" dishes in drawers and cupboards. Also, the washing machine was pretty dirty (glass on the inside of the front load washer) so that could have been cleaned a bit better. But would definitely recommend for anyone not wanting to wait on the elevators. It made it easy for us to go in and out. And the wind was mostly blocked on the patio so we could always sit out and enjoy it without the wind.

Beautiful

Ocean Vista is the perfect location. The grounds keepers do an amazing job at keeping the area immaculate and safe. The condo was beautiful and sat right outside the pool. Great location for families on the island! My only complaint is that there was no communication. There was no number or email to contact anyone. The AC wouldn’t get under 75 degrees which made sleeping unpleasant. We were not provided with any checkout instructions so I had to call VACASA to confirm what we needed to do to vacate. Over all the property was wonderful, the island was friendly, and our vacation was a success. With a few refinements I think this property would be a 10/10.
