The kitchen had all dishes needed as we also brought some of ours to be sure for certain dishes. The lighting was not good at all and one of the sky lights was out. We had to bring a lamp down from upstairs to help with being able to see to cook and play our board games at night. Other wise very nice.

Very cozy and warm, roomy and airy. Well appointed kitchen, big loft bedroom, 2 bathrooms and a great deck overlooking the Salmon River. Five elk on the meadow the first morning early.Wifi was strong, great place to work away from home or just relax.Other reviews mentioned the sulfur in the tap water - we used bottled for everything.

The location was perfect, walking distance to stores and restaurants. Loved the deck with the river just below. Very relaxing. I will be back.

The cabin was wonderful, and had everything we needed. It has a quaint feel that permeates for a peaceful, relaxing vacation. The main upstairs bed was comfortable, and the fact that we could have our littlest dog with us was just what we needed. The location couldn't be better. It's right across the highway from rafting; it's very near the market; and you could walk into the town of Stanley if you were inclined. Beyond the cabin, the host was exceptional. I accidently forgot to pack my iPad upon our return home and located that I had left it behind at the cabin. She searched for it, found it, and sent it back to me, which truly was a blessing. When you're looking for a place to stay in Stanley, start your search here. You won't be disappointed!

Location by the river was beautiful. It was a nice cabin for our stay. We especially enjoyed the back deck right by the river! We even sat on the stones with our feet in the river which felt so good after a long day of hiking! We were very pleased to find bear spray in the cabin. We brought it on every hike, not only for bears but protection from any unwanted attention. :). Thankfully we didn't need it! It would have been helpful to have known prior to our stay that we had to buy bottled water for drinking due to the sulfur in the water. Several light bulbs were out so some areas in the cabin were a bit dark. And a lot of the food in the cupboards left by other people were past the expiration dates so that could be cleaned out. Just some of the little "attention to detail" items could have been better, but it did not deter from what was a very good stay. We had wonderful time and the cabin was very cozy and comfortable. Thank you for a fantastic place to stay so we could enjoy the beautiful mountains in Stanley, Idaho! :)

It's all about the view from the deck and the snow covered mountains! I have never stayed in any home that offered the private viewing of a raging famous river flowing right next to you. We loved it and would definitely stay again. The wifi didn't work that first day, but the manager fixed it the next day. The kitchen was well stocked and we appreciated the bottled water. The home is not air conditioned and there are no windows that open, so I would be concerned about it being hot in the summer, but it was fine when we stayed. Stanley has some great restaurants we enjoyed. We also saw pronghorns a couple of times in the distance while we stayed. There is nothing more relaxing than the sound of a rushing river while relaxing on a private deck!

Comfortable stay in Stanley

I would definitely recommend this cabin. It’s warm and cozy and you can walk to nearby stores, and restaurants. We especially liked that the kitchen has things like spices, and all the things you need to make a good meal. Most VRBOs don’t have these items, but they are a game changer. The river is awesome and we got to see the elk walk through it after they visited the hot springs across the road. Loved the Mountain Lodge Inn for food and their private new outdoor hot springs!

Great stay

Overall great. Property manager was very accommodating and professional. Location is beautiful. The only downside is the water is very sulfuric.

wonderful weekend by the river with our pets

The log cabin is larger than it appears in the pictures. The deck overlooks the wonderful river. We feel asleep listening to the river . The views are amazing of the mountains.

Love the 'happy water'

This was an amazing stay at 'Sleeping by the river'. The house was well decorated and appointed. My favorite place was lounging on the deck just watching and listening to the river....what I call 'happy water'. We would love to stay there again in the future! Sadly our stay in Stanley was abbreviated due to the wildfires burning near the town.

Even better than described

Wonderful stay! We came during a smokey period so it was a great place even if you need to be indoors. The view from the loft was amazing! There are ceiling fans, claw foot tub, condiments and other good things to have. Bed upstairs was comfortable.

Relaxing on the deck with The Salmon River gently gliding by was the best. The sound of the river at night was the best white noise we have ever experienced. Close to hiking, biking, AMAZING views of the Sawtooth make this home perfect for a getaway!
