Belle maison sur un terrain fantastique plat à l'eau

Ceci est une belle maison au bord du lac qui dort 10 confortablement. Le terrain est presque plat à l'eau avec beaucoup de stationnement pour bateaux. Profitez de la tranquillité d'être sur la partie calme du lac, mais à seulement 20 minutes de Bridgewater en bateau et d'autres commodités. Rampe de mise à l'eau publique à seulement 10 minutes. La maison a toutes les cloches et les sifflets, y compris la télévision par satellite (package amélioré) dans la grande salle, au niveau inférieur, ainsi que dans 2 chambres. Bien sûr, laveuse et sécheuse et tous les petits appareils de cuisine, y compris la cafetière ordinaire ainsi que Keurig. La buanderie a également une petite machine à glaçons commerciale. Cette machine produisait jusqu'à 125 livres de glace par jour. Quel soulagement de ne pas s'inquiéter d'avoir de la glace pour les glacières pendant les vacances. La maison a 1 lit King, 3 reines et une chambre avec lits superposés avec 2 ensembles de jumeaux.
Beaucoup de stationnement à l'avant avec parking pour remorque de bateau dans la rue. Nous sommes absolument sans animaux / sans fumée.

Great location and features

Great house that met all of our needs. Dock was great, wired for sound, shaded area to sit and play cards, and a short relatively flat walk from the house, which was a plus. Would stay there again.

Rother’s Retreat is a great place. The location to the lake is perfect with a beautiful view. The house was very roomy and well equipped with all of the modern utilities needed for a perfect vacation. Rick Rother was very accommodating in planning our vacation. I can’t wait to book our trip for next year.

We have stayed 2 times at Rother's Retreat, both times our family had a wonderful time. We enjoy the dock and the space families members have to sleep. The kitchen is well equipped and we could set up games to play downstairs. We hope to stay there again next year.

We always love our stay at Rothers Retreat and this time was no different. The dock and quiet cove can’t be beat. Only one minor complaint, and that was the hot tub was not operational.

Hi Wendy, Thanks for the great review. You are great guests. I wanted to let you know that the Hot Tub is no longer listed as an amenity of the house on the website. It is impossible to find anyone to keep it clean and sanitized. I had a group complain because the previous group did not clean it. It has become more trouble that it is worth. Most guests don't use it in the summer anyway. I am sorry that was not clear to you. Rick

Our 4th year this house

We love this house! This is our 4th year renting it. We look forward to it all year. You can tell the owners take pride in it. This year there was some new landscaping. we find everything we need in the kitchen. The weather was perfect with rain only the last evening. We brought 2 paddleboards again this year and rented a pontoon boat for the week.

Wonderful place!

We absolutely loved our stay at Rother's Retreat. The house was perfect for our family of 6 - we had small children and the grass out back did not have a big incline and so our toddler loved playing on the grass not to mention the dock was easy to swim off of and the cove where the house is - is so quiet. Sunsets were beautiful and we had dinner every night on the deck. The house was perfect and had everything you could want! We really appreciate all the details were thought of and it was so easy to settle in. We highly recommend this place and I hope we will be back to visit soon!

Best All Around

This property was all around our favorite yet. The owners were nice and accommodating. The lot was almost flat leading to the water. The dock had plenty of room for kids to play, nice shaded area, nice cooler(ice machine in house) and the floating dock was great for watercraft. The neighbors were both nice also. We will Definitely be back.

Perfect spot for family vacation with grandkids

We found this to be a Perfect spot for family vacation with grandkids Also, the few issues that we had we found the owners to be extremely responsive to our needs. The kitchen was well-equipped and plenty of plastic for days out on the boat was extremely helpful. Nice laundry room with ice machine which was also a big help filling our coolers. There were books which our granddaughters enjoyed and it was a very quiet peaceful Cove. Lots of fun fishing to be had on the dock and a sizable large mouth bass was caught one day! All in all we had no complaints I would definitely come back!

#3rd year at this house

we keep coming back to this house for several reasons. The owners take great pride in making it welcoming with decor, cleanliness and upgrades as needed. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking any type of meal. The grill is great and hooked up to a big propane tank so you don't run out. This year we brought 2 paddleboards and used the boat dock to get on and off. The professional ice maker and cooler at the dock ... We plan to come back everyyear for as long as they rent it.

Restful & Peaceful Family Vacation

After having trips cancelled this year due to the COVID pandemic, we decided to get away where we could enjoy solitude and quality family time. Smith Mountain Lake and Rother's Retreat was the perfect place to escape all the politics surrounding the pandemic. The home was just as it was described and shown in the pictures. It was well equipped and the furnishings very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the dock all times of the day, where we could park our jet ski's safely, enjoy picnicking, fishing and floating on a raft. The location of the home was perfect as it was in a quiet cove and at an end of the lake where it was not overly developed. The view from the home overlooking the lake was absolutely lovely. We all agreed, we would return to Rother's Retreat!

We didn’t want to leave!

Our family had a fantastic time! The home and property was even better in person than we expected! The house was very clean and well stocked with everything we needed. The downstairs living area was great for children to spread out and play games. The window treatments provided a great dark environment for little ones to nap! The dock setup was fantastic for our small children who spent hours and hours jumping in the lake. We were able to easily tie up our own boat in the floating docks, and ate many lunches down by the water in the shade. The cove was quiet and protected from boat traffic and great for swimming. Overall a fantastic rental experience. We’re ready to go back!

AMAZING LAKEVIEW HOME

Rother’s Retreat was better than expected! Our family enjoyed everything. The home’s decor is lake themed and very well kept. The dock was fantastic and on one particular day we spent the entire day on the dock and kayaked everyday. We played yard games on the flat green grassy backyard and enjoyed a cookout using the grill and ate dinner on the deck’s dinning table. We will definitely request to stay again! Thank you for allowing us to stay at your home! Bring hand soap, dish washer soap and dish soap, all paper products including toilet paper. Any spices and salt and pepper, anything you’ll need for your recipes. The home does provide a lot of pots and pans, dishes, and utensils. Minute Mart does sell groceries if you forget stuff.

SML Gem on an open wide beautiful Cove!

1st of all, we love a dock-this is a great dock with a diving board and two ladders for swimming. Also extra slips for boats or jet skis. The cove is huge and quiet. No worry with big boats racing by. The back yard to the dock is nice and flat and room to throw ball and play catch. The house has a huge deck with plenty of seating and a nice gas grill. The house is better than the pictures! Two king rooms, two queen rooms and a double bunk room. All the mattresses were very comfy and slept well! The whole house has been remodeled with two living areas and plenty of wifi with all the essentials on the smart TVs. We are cooks in our family, the kitchen is the best stocked kitchen we have ever seen! Very nice cookware and everything you need for vacation! Two things I would "suggest" to add to the home-are some play things to use on the lake. We brought our own floats and a ride to pull behind the boat we rented, but maybe a kayak or a paddle board would be nice to use. They did have life vests and some pool noodles available. Also, a fire pit to use, we wanted to make s'mores and we did not see a space to do so. So we roasted them over the gas grill and made do! This is a GREAT house, super clean and up to date, super comfy beds and plenty of space to spread out. A kitchen that is stocked with all you need. An AWESOME dock and cove to play and boat around. Also, you can boat to a few restaurants nearby! We give this a 5 star review!! Thanks to the Rothers Family for sharing their home! We loved it!

My wife and I have enjoyed Smith Mountain Lake for over 45 years. We visit often and never tire of the serenity of the lake in the mornings and the beautiful sunsets at night.

We started coming to the Lake in High School with our parents and when the opportunity arose we decided to purchase a second home here. We have enjoyed coming with our children and their friends and now that they are almost grown, we enjoy a little adult time here whenever possible.

What makes Rother's Retreat special is the fact that there is no commercial activity nearby. It is very quiet yet by boat only 15 minutes to the "other side" where shopping, restaurants etc., can be found.
The views from the dock are fabulous and there is plenty of room for the whole crowd. The dock features wired speakers so bring your phone or Ipod to listen to your favorite tunes.
The floating dock features room for 2-3 boats plus room for PWC's. A public boat launch is only 10 minutes away by car.
