Great time on the Delta

Vince was an amazing host! Met us onsite and walked us through the houseboat. Had a problem with the WIFi and he came out and fixed it for us. Then made himself available to help us with getting to know the Delta. Had an absolutely amazing time and would rent from him again! It was just my husband and I, but you could easily sleep 6 people

Definitely A Home Away from Home

Spending time on the Big Dog is quite the experience. It's quite, the weather was so comfortable. The Big Dog features in the kitchen are first rate. The air conditioning was just right! Only one concern: it's time to turn the mattresses. You can feel which side gets more wear but other than this, I truly enjoy this location and the accommodations. This is the type of "get away" that is truly unique for water lovers and fisherpersons.

Perfect day on the water

Our family of four plus a few friends stayed on the Big Dog for my daughter's Sweet 16, and had a fabulous time. The boat is pretty much exactly like the photos. I think "luxury" is overstating it - it is a houseboat, not the Ritz. But it is very nice. It's clean, comfortable and modernized. The roof top deck is everything. We stayed at the dock, which made it essentially like an extremely-water-front rental property. We used the tiny adorable diving board to jump in the water, paddled kayaks and SUPs and swam. I was worried that boat traffic from the marina would be an issue, but on a Saturday in August we saw maybe 6 boats go by during the day, and all of them were extremely slow, no wake, very safe. The tide does come in and out and you can feel it for sure, so I recommend swimming there for confident swimmers, not little kids. We saw tons of egrets and herons, and two seals right off the boat - pretty cool! Wi-Fi was spotty, which was fine by us, but just something to be aware of. The kitchen is well equipped and the oven was spotless- I may have been the first person to ever use it. At night the kids lounged on the roof and watched shooting stars while we adults enjoyed a glass of wine on the lower deck. The rooftop fridge could use a deep clean, but that was the only thing we felt was a little grungy, and honestly the only semi-negative I can think of. BYO shower products, fyi. Friendly, helpful host. Overall, great stay!

Our third annual fabulous houseboat vacation!

This was our third time on Big Dog and we love it so much! Eight friends get together annually to celebrate summer and enjoy friends on nearby boats. Our boat was by far the most comfortable and luxurious! As mentioned earlier, this boat is cleaner than my house, ha ha. Also, the full kitchen is such a joy. Having a big fridge with freezer and even an ice maker is such a joy. For a rental it has a ton of extra kitchen tools (like a whisk!) and even quite a few misc. staples (we forgot our sugar, but there it was on the boat already!). It's best to bring these things yourself but we are always surprised how many of them are already on board. Comfortable beds, sofa bed, kayaks, a paddle board, an amazing social space on the roof with a big grill, bar, and even karaoke. Big Dog is clearly a labor love for its owner Vince. Highly recommended for families and friend groups. We will be reserving for next year as soon as the dates are available!

4th annual girls trip

This is our 4th year on the Big Dog. We always have so much fun. Vince is a great host! Easy to contact and quick to respond. Always clean and ready for use! Love that Vince has paddle boards and kayaks available every year. Cant wait til next year!!

A series of unfortunate events

Pros: boat was spacious and accommodated all our guests. Good AC, good sound system. Weather was nice. Cons: upon arrival, the host was present. We understand for this rental, there’s a lot of information we needed to know about the boat. And the host was supposed to take us out to the water and anchor us there. But never in all my years of renting vacation homes have we ever had to spend the first 5 or so hours of our trip with the host in the house with us. He was very nice but it’s difficult for our guests to relax with the host hovering around. Not to mention when it was time for us to be anchored at the beach, the boat stopped working in the middle of the water and we crashed on to the dock, we had to wait to be towed back. We couldn’t enjoy the water because who wants to swim at a dirty dock with boats driving by every 5 minutes? Also, the property details shows a jacuzzi and there was none. We were told it was broken so it probably should be removed from the listing details. It would have made a world of difference having a jacuzzi considering all the things that happened. We know the host couldn’t predict the boat breaking down, but nothing was done or offered to compensate for the fact that our trip was cut short by many hours and we couldn’t spend the weekend out in the lake as planned. I had to ask for a late check out. We made the most of it but it wasn’t at all like we hoped. Disappointing over all.

Big Dog is Awesome!

Big Dog was perfect for our needs for a multi day stay on the Delta. We had a family gathering on the river and needed some extra facilities due to the size of our group. Big Dog gave us the extra room we needed and offered a much needed area of shade. The kitchen is well stocked and served us well for serving meals. The upper deck offered an amazing view across the islands of the Delta and the kids loved the swim platform and spring board on the back of the boat. There were many features that we did not use, but it was nice they were there if we chose to utilize them (washer/dryer, A/C). I would seriously consider renting her again for future events. Vince (the owner) was very accommodating and easy to work with.

Bethel Island getaway

We had a wonderful time staying on board the Big Dog. It is a wonderful boat. There was plenty of room on top for us all to hang out. We really enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to our next visit to Bethel Island. The Big Dog was a great experience for our family members. The host was very attentive to my needs. A beautiful relaxing weekend

The nice thing about our group is everyone does what he/she wants to just relax. If that's watching TV, listening to music, taking walks around the property or fishing. It's all there for everyone. The location and accommodations are perfect for doing what you want while on vacation.
