Hi1 we were so sorry that the weather didn’t cooperate. We’re glad you had a bit of a chance to enjoy the great pool and private beach. Yes, our HOA stopped allowing renters to use the grill and other amenities because people didn’t take care of them. We removed them as soon as you mentioned. We hope you will come back!

We were so sorry that this guest did not get what she was looking for. Although we provided descriptions and lots of pictures, and are clear that the apartment is North facing, I think she expected a large ocean balcony and an environment more like Costa del Este. She must have expected daily maid service as she left wet towels on the floor, trash with food in it and more. She couldn’t be very familiar with VRBO and the usual things hosts leave for guests. We left condiments in the refridgerator (lower shelf) which we do when guests are only spending a few nights. We left shampoo, conditioner and shower gel in the shower for her, as we always do for guests, but they weren’t the hotel branded minis she might have expected. It was clear from the beginning she never read the information sent to her. But our correspondence was pleasant until she sent a text saying she was leaving in the late afternoon on the second day. We had never had a problem so I reached out to VRBO who advised that she was not due any refund. We did give her a partial refund to show good will. We went out of our way to make her happy at every turn, even gave a partial refund as a gesture of good will and she left this scathing review. John’s Island isn’t for everyone. The emphasis is on gracious and special, not very modern. I am glad she was happy in a modern hotel.
