Niché dans les collines de la Shawnee National Forest, derrière le vignoble du plus ancien et primé vignoble du sud de l'Illinois, le Betty's Vineyard House est une maison privée de 2 chambres, 2 salles de bains avec tous les équipements dont vous avez besoin!

What a beautiful place to stay! It was so clean and well-kept! Beds were comfortable, there were lots of amenities, and we loved being able to walk to the winery right next-door. The area is very quiet and peaceful. Owner was extremely helpful and responsive. Loved this stay!!

100% Recommend. Bettys is warm, cozy, spacious, and clean. Tastefully decorated. The sofas and beds are comfortable. We especially appreciated the pack-n-play and outlet covers for our kiddos. Host was helpful, kind and available if we needed anything. Perfect location also. Looking forward to staying there again!

great location for exploring the Shawnee Forest area

Cozy property, but more than capable to support a family of 4 and our dog as we made it our 'basecamp' between local state park hikes. Very clean and well laid out with full kitchen amenities, and an awesome little winery and tasting room literally next door...which we sat outside and played bocce with the dog including.

This VRBO is in the best location ever. During our 2 day / 2 night stay we visited 9 wineries, while spending evenings at Havisham Bourbon Bar!For all Wineries located on the “Highway 127 Corridor” this is the best place ever!

This property was amazing! It’s located near several local wineries and state parks. The home itself it’s very clean perfectly organized. Beth was a top notch host offering very helpful information about the area and was extremely quick to respond. Check in was a breeze using the keypad lock.

Betty is our grandmother and the matriarch behind the formation of Alto Vineyards. Together with our grandfather, Guy, she was instrumental in starting the wine and grape industry in Southern Illinois. Her proudest achievement, though, was raising a big, beautiful family of 7 children that has now grown to include 18 grandchildren and 8 (and counting) great-grandchildren. Despite all of the commotion and hassle of caring for—and especially feeding!—such a large family, Betty always welcomed guests into her home. Whether they were Guy’s SIU colleagues, friends of her children, or students and visitors from all over the world, all had a place at the table and were made to feel at home. Betty was a patient, gentle, selfless and generous woman who saw so much beauty in the world and often remarked about how every living thing was extraordinary in its own way.

We built this home in 2010 and lived here until we "grew out of it" in 2015. It has been very well kept--we still love it and visit often! When we decided to open it up to guests, we named it after Grandma Betty in her honor and memory. While you are here visiting, we hope that you are able to relax and experience both the hospitality and the awe of our natural surroundings in the Shawnee National Forest that Betty shared with those around her every day!

Besides the location--super private but still just a short walk to the winery or the Village of Alto Pass--the home boasts an oversized back deck perfect for enjoying a glass of wine, cocktail, or beer with friends or just taking in the beauty of the surrounding forest. Prefer a view of the vineyard? Move around to the front porch rocking chairs to relax with a cup of coffee or tea as the wind breezes through the vines. Inside, sleek polished concrete floors and a bright interior ensure your stay will be clean and comfortable!
