Où 1892 rencontre le luxe moderne dans une location de vacances située à Alto Pass, Illinois. Havisham House a deux maisons sur la propriété ... la maison de transport et la maison principale. Nous sommes au cœur de la route des vins du sud de l'Illinois, et à seulement quelques kilomètres de Bald Knob Cross et de superbes sentiers de randonnée / vélo. L'étage principal de cette confortable maison de transport comprend une chambre, une salle de bain complète, une cuisine et un salon. En bas a une plus grande chambre, salle de bain complète et une sortie sur un patio extérieur privé.
Pourquoi l'avons-nous nommé "Havisham House"? Avez-vous lu Great Expectations de Charles Dickens? Le personnage principal, Mlle Havisham, vivait dans la maison Satis, un manoir en ruine. Cette propriété m'a immédiatement rappelé ce roman classique quand nous l'avons trouvé en 2015… abandonné et lourdement endommagé par une tornade sévère. (Veuillez voir les photos "avant" sur havishamhouse. Com.) Même avec ses dégâts considérables, nous sommes tombés amoureux de cette propriété et avions "de grandes attentes" pour son sauvetage. Nous pensons que vous apprécierez vraiment votre séjour en créant de merveilleux souvenirs dans le sud de l'Illinois. Nous savons que vous aimerez Havisham House autant que nous.

Cozy and comfortable

Perfectly located in Alto Pass - furthest Shawnee Wine Trail Winery is about 18 minutes away. Beautiful area, spacious rental!

Better than expected!

Took wife on a valentine weekend getaway. Looked at several places around the wine trail. Choose this home based on friend’s recommendation. Glad we did. Up to date…safe feeling…clean and great location!!! We WILL stay here again. Thank you for the hospitality.

Highly recommend!

We choose this place for a central location to do the wine trails. A wonderful venue with beautiful grounds. Big house would be a great place to stay as a large group. Adorable small town vibe and close to Murphy and Anna for needs. Ample kitchen amenities, might need a few additions but you could get by! Would 110% stay here again!

The property is reminiscent of old times past with modern amenities and memorable charm.... Jerri was so accommodating and welcoming!!! This property was once in our family and was destroyed by a hurricane! Jerri restores it beyond its original glory and provides the updated amenities that modern patrons expect! A beautiful jewel in a tranquil location!!! I would love sharing this space with a group of friends and a bottle or Twp of wine!!!

Unique house and area

Southern Illinois is a beautiful area for scenic drives and hiking, wineries and breweries, etc. Havisham carriage house is unique with its history and old thick walls; carefully restored. It is comfortable and functional. We enjoyed the patio and, in cooler weather, the ready to go fire pit would be perfect. A few steps up the sidewalk is the bourbon bar. The bar tender knows her craft! The Bar Bites were excellent. Just be aware of hours of operation for all businesses in the whole area. The toiletries are minimal and very basic so you might pack your preferred items and kleenex. The kitchen is minimally stocked with dishes for 6 people, 1 skillet and one sauce pan if you plan to do any food prep. We enjoyed Midlands, The Brick House Grill, and the 51BBQ in Cobden. And don’t miss brunch at The Iron Whisk. The taco place in Cobden is good and very popular.

Great little getaway

We had a nice time. We thought we would get a little more hiking in but the ground was a bit too mushy. Just that time of year. The bourbon bar was a nice finish in the evening. Thank you very much for a cozy stay.

Beautiful homes in the country.

A really cool pair of classic old timey houses that have been impeccably restored. We chose to stay there because they are located close to friends in Alto Pass but would be great for anyone wanting to experience rural Southern Illinois!

Carriage House

This is such a cute place! It's close to Shawnee Forest for some great hikes. There's a small park across the street for kids to play at as well. We didn't find too much to eat close by, but we brought lots of food and snacks to keep us happy (we visited during the off season, so this might be different during summer months). We would absolutely stay here again if we come to this area.

Nice place!

Very clean, comfortable property. Small kitchen but if you plan to order in or do carry out you’ll be in great shape. Coffee pot, toaster and refrigerator are great for breakfast. Oven available, too.

Wine Trail Experience

We really enjoyed staying in the carriage house. It was the perfect size for 2 couples. It was very clean and had everything that we needed. It was in the perfect location to everything that we wanted to do. I would highly recommend staying here.
