One Night Stay - Late check-in

The most appalling portion of this review is how Kristi can’t understand that our space is rated 5 stars! There is a reason for it, it’s because we take pride in providing an affordable and clean space for our guests for many years. Kristi arrived in the unit and started stripping everything. She found a dried up dead box elder beetle in the corner of the mattress. Our units are surrounded by elm trees, which in the summer is the preferred spot for those tiny bugs to hang out. They are harmless and sneaky and can get into impossible places, therefore this one climbed under the mattress protector and there it died. In the summer I always give guests the heads up that they might run into some of them. I did not this time because they have been gone for a few weeks, due to the begging of fall. Kristi reached out to me and said they didn’t want to stay there because we had bed bugs. I apologized and promised I would go and check it myself. and told them that I would refund them without much excuses. I arrived in the unit an hour later to find everything stripped and went to see the bug, which was the dead box elder beetle. No bed bugs or live infestation of any sort. I went to VRBO and processed the refund. I let Kristi know what the bug was and it’s current condition. Kristi kept harassing me saying I didn’t refund her entirely. I explained to her that the fees and taxes must be handled by VRBO. She insisted that I had to cancel their booking but I told her that they were the ones that have to initiate the process because they were canceling based on an assumption. She was extremely adamant and started being really arrogant and demanding. I told them to contact VRBO and the amount i refunded was the maximum allowed. No bed bugs or anything were found. Just a dead little box elder bug that decided to die in a very odd place. If you’re booking our space, feel free to check for bugs, if you find a bed bug you will get a $100 visa gift certificate. If you bring bed bugs and place there to get the money you will be in serious trouble 😂 l

Hi Evan. I’m sorry you had a less than ideal stay. We strive to be as transparent as possible with our units. If guests don’t fully read the details and description beforehand, it can definitely cause some frustration. If you go back and read this particular unit description, you will notice that It clearly states and warns about the potential of upstairs noise. Earplugs are provided as courtesy to promote a more pleasant night of sleep. . As a piece of advice for future bookings, always read the full description of the places you intend to stay before booking them . This practice will save you from certain disappointment. Take care
