Great condo in a good neighborhood

Pros: - James (from Captain Cook) is a great concierge, very responsive. - Nice city and ocean views from the 22nd floor - Clean condo with modern furniture and fixtures Cons: - After a rain downpoor, giant puddles remain on the lanai due to poor drainage - The building is being renovated so there is a lot of disarray such as one broken elevator, no lights in the barbeque area, periodic shutdown of the pool.

Better than Expected - Perfect for Two

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were very satisfied with the apartment. It was a corner unit which provided more light and cross ventilation. It was well stocked with pots, pans, and kitchen utensils. We had a problem with the microwave and within an hour we had a call from Captain Cook and a representative at our unit to address the issue. One thing that might be a detriment for some is that a large building is being constructed on the same block with construction noise most of the day.

Lovely flat for our time in Waikiki

The views are good from this height and roof top pool was a lovely spot to relax. The location of the property was excellent. Just behind the international market place and 8 minute walk to the beach. There is a supermarket on corner of the block and where you can also get the buses to all directions around the island. I would recommend this property. Just a small note to add a few more comfortable bedding items for the sofa bed.

Fantastic Customer Service

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Unit 2202 is beautiful. Windows on 2 sides, ocean (distant) and canal views, updated full kitchen. We had enough dishes and utensils to enjoy cooking there. The queen bed in the bedroom was comfortable, and we loved that the unit had motorized blinds on the patio that blocked out all sunlight on that side. My only suggestion would be to provide a light-blocking shade on the kitchen window, as my son slept on the comfy pull out and the living area was quite bright early in the morning.Customer service was amazing. We were met on arrival (at 10:30pm on a Friday night), shown to our parking space and unit, given a tour and told to call with any concerns. We discovered the next morning that the air conditioning unit in the main living area wasn't working. I called to report this, and 3 days later it was replaced with a brand new unit. It would have been replaced sooner if it wasn't Easter weekend.Our flight home was canceled, and we were very pleased to be able to stay in our unit for one more night. Management went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of during our stay.I would 100% recommend booking with Captain Cook, and staying in unit 2202.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The owner was gracious enough to give us a % off our stay as the electricity was turned off on day #2 for "non payment". So, we had to shuffle to another apartment in the same building which was a hassle for a night/day. Then, the biggest disappointment was that the pool was shut down for maintenance. This was a huge let-down for us as we love to spend hours just hanging at the pool. So, on day #6, I thought I'd call the mngr and ask if perhaps they had another rental in the city with a pool that we could walk to and use. They did let us use the Waikiki Banyon. I wish I would've called sooner. Loved the location/cleanliness and decor.

We sincerely apologize for the issues you encountered. The electric was not "non-payment;" unfortunately the new owner forgot to put the electric in their name. Had we known of the pool closure, we would have notified all guests. Our standard procedure is to email every guest and post the notice of the closure in the description of each unit involved. All our condominiums are managed by owner associations and our office has no control over the scheduling of pool/lanai closures or other items relating directly to the building itself, however we do our best to keep you informed of issues which might affect your stay. We apologize we missed the mark during your stay, but we did supply compensation for both the electric and for the pool closure. We hope you will give us another chance in the future.

Very clean and great location.

We were moved to a different apartment on day#2 as our electricity was turned off for non-payment. It was a small hassle shuffling all the contents of the fridge and bathing/electrical items around—BUT, The owner DID compensate us $175 for that. But the BIGGEST disappointment was that the pool was closed for maintanence the whole time we were there. That was the #2 ammenity (aside from a full kitchen) on our list of “must haves”. The owner was again gracious to take another 10% off our bill. It’s unfortunate that the building didn’t communicate this to the property owner as we would have never even stayed here on that account. We did like the location and it was clean. We will be back to Waikiki for sure but will more than likely choose another place to stay. Thank you!

December 2018 Stay

We enjoyed our 1 week stay in rental unit #2202. When renting through VRBO the big "IF" is whether the photos are actually representative of what you find when you arrive. We are pleased to say that this place met our expectations! The unit appears to be newly renovated. It's very clean and beautifully decorated. The location was perfect for us. We enjoyed being back from the busy Waikiki beach area, yet close enough for an easy stroll. Loved walking along the canal, and also hiked Diamond Head from our place, an approx. 11 mile round trip. Having a well stocked grocery store, The Food Pantry, on the same block was fantastic. Unfortunately the rooftop pool was closed for maintenance the week we were there. We spent a bit of quiet reading/sun tanning time up on the roof, but it was pretty windy most days. For that reason we didn't try out the BBQs. Nice touch though. Only 1 tiny complaint; would have been nice to have a couple of beach mats and beach chairs in the unit
