The VRBO review system is very helpful nearly all the time, but unfortunately there are some cases such as this one where guests fictitiously embellish stories out of personal frustration. Janis stayed here 7 nights, and the temperature was in the 70s when she arrived. In fact for a large majority of her stay the temperature was nearly perfect. There were however 2 nights where it got a little cooler, and the temperature got into the 50s. Like many prior guests have done, Janis could have simply changed the A/C setting to heat in the bedroom and utilized the space heater if needed in whichever other room she wanted. I assumed, like plenty prior guests who have stayed in even colder temperatures (though it rarely is cold in NOLA), that she either would turn the heat on herself or ask me how if she wasn't able to on her own (no guest has ever not been able to simply change the A/C setting to heat mode). I didn't hear from Janis the first of the 2 chilly nights, so I assumed everything was fine. The next day however I heard from her and she asked about the heating situation. I explained exactly how to turn the heat on in the bedroom and that I even put a space heater in the unit if necessary. She told me she had a sore throat, blaming it on the chilliness, which I told her I was very sorry about, but I was under the assumption she knew how to simply change the A/C setting to heat since I had not heard otherwise that first night or possibly utilize the extra blankets in the unit. Also, this is the first I'm hearing of the floors being "dirty". I can assure you that while yes the floors are old in a couple of the rooms, they are very clean for every guest. It is very unfortunate that she felt under the weather, but that in no way should result in giving a 1 star review. I had no way of knowing Janis couldn't simply change modes on the A/C to heat for the couple of chilly nights and would have thought she'd simply ask as soon as she wanted it on. Hopefully this user error doesn't deter any future guests as the A/C, with a remote provided, is very easy to operate.

It took 3 years across multiple platforms and listings, but I have finally received an inaccurate review. It is the furthest thing from an extremely sketchy looking neighborhood. It is one of the safer neighborhoods in the entire city with beautiful homes all around. The house next door is currently under renovation, but this has never been an issue with any previous guests. Yes, the home does have window A/C units, but that info is in the listing and it makes as much noise as any other window unit you'd find in the city. My cleaning people always do an amazing job, and I can say with confidence that the tub nor the rug in front of the bed were dirty. No guest has ever commented on anything being dirty, and I go in myself between guests and nothing was dirty. The front door automatically locks without messing with the inside lock, and I know the place was locked when you arrived. There is no screen door but instead an iron gate and it does not blow back and forth. It's either all the way open or closed. This historic home is over 100 years old, but the unit is exactly as the pictures show and description details, and I've received nothing but positive reviews in the past on multiple platforms. For future reference, please think before typing since public reviews do have a strong impact on potential future bookings, and completely inaccurate information such as what you detailed is very harmful and frankly unethical.
