Weekend in Chicago

The apartment was perfect, comfortable and spacious. Check in instructions were detailed and easy to follow. For being located above a crowded bar, the noise was not bad at all and we had no trouble sleeping. There was free parking on the street right in front of the apt and we were able to leave our car there all weekend. Great place and we will reserve again!

Great Neighborhood, Modest Apartment

You just can't beat this location, near to everything right above a great bar. The place is very utilitarian, has all you need but can't say that there is anything nice about it. Is in need of some updating. That being said, it worked great as a landing place for our gang. We had a blast

Don’t expect much from property but good location

I was disappointed in the cleanliness of the property. Kitchen counters we’re still sticky, closet doors were broken and none of the light switches/outlets worked in either bedroom. The location was great and the host was very responsive but minor improvements in the property itself are very needed.

Good location but needs care

Location is great , walking distance to subway stations, restaurants, street parking is easy, but the apartment needs some care, walls dirty (painting is needs), very basic bed clothing, limited bathroom towels, no hangers in the closet. The kitchen utensils is very depleted , just one short glass, one coffee cup, no wine glasses, no jar for the coffee maker, a missing gabinete door.

NOT FOR ANYONE WITH WALKING DISABILITY

Definitely not for anyone with any kind of physical disabilities. No safety bars in shower/ tub. 23 steps to apartment from the 1st floor.

In the heart of it all...

We had a wonderful stay...close to it all. There were comments about the noise from the restaurant/bar downstairs and there was some noise-bass music beat, talking, laughter but it was not bad at all. The plus side was it was a great place to run downstairs and pick up a very tasty lunch one day and we stopped there after a day of fun for a nightcap on their patio, so we made the best of it. The apartment is very nice. Plenty of space, plenty of of towels and dishes. Nice supply of starter amenities also such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap, shampoo, conditioner and kitchen spices. The directions upon our first entry were a little confusing because there are actually 2 sets of steps so when it says turn left upon entering...turn all the way left to a second set of steps do not go up the steps directly ahead. The manager was easy to communicate with and was very responsive. We had a wonderful stay and hope to return soon!

Great location, awful management!

Great location, with a convenient bar below. Management made check-in extremely difficult and confusing. Directions were incorrect and we were unable to get into the apartment for several hours. On top of that, the apartment was not clean! We were even gracious enough to let management know our check-in wouldn’t be until the evening, and the apartment was clearly not cleaned or looked at. It is clear that management does not know how to communicate with their cleaners/maintenance. When we called the number provided, we had to explain the situation several times, as if it was our fault the keys were not working. All of these issues could have been avoided if management knew how to communicate effectively.

Inaccurate listing

We booked this VRBO for 8 people but went with 6. Even with 6 people, there weren't enough sleeping areas. The listing said 3 air mattresses but there was only 1 and there was a hole so it wouldn't stay inflated. So even with the 6 people, there was a lack of sleeping quarters. Also, the wifi wasn't working the entire time we were there, we were told it's a Google Home but it didn't look like that. The neighborhood was nice though, we loved Bill's Northwood Inn below us!

Needs major upgrades

Please Note that i notified the hosts about issues below upon arrival and they were not addressed. 1) arrival: Followed the instructions to the T. Sticker @lockbox is completed faded out. get in the building, but unit won't open. After i texted and called them numerous times, they just kept asking me if I had followed the instructions correctly, which I confirmed three times that I had. I Later found out that there were two staircases in the building that the instructions did not mention, and that the staircases that I had to take to my unit were not visible and we're not clearly lit. That was an hour wasted trying to get into the unit late at night after a long flight. 2) the unit itself: from very far away the furnishings look like the photos, but up close you can see how cheap and badly kept it all is. That couch is completely deformed by all the springs coming, there is no foam -it's completely unusable. I can't believe I'm saying this but there were 2 condoms stashed inside the iron kettle on the fireplace mantle. 3) The cleanliness or lack there of: in person- You can actually see how insanely dirty all of the walls are and desperately needing them to be scrubbed or repainted. The sink had tons of little bugs (yes dead bugs), so did the toilet and the bathtub. I sent them a text and they did not acknowledge it until i repeated the message next day, yet they did nothing about it. The plastic shower lining- OMG that needs to be replaced (it's like $10!!) It's so dirty with residue and mold, it's a sanitary hazard. It literally has black splashes. 4) amenities: I explicitly emailed them asking them for each item but still had items missing (conditioner and coffee). 5) communication. They email and texted excessively about check in and check out (they reminded me about check out 4 times) but never responded when i told them the property was dirty or couch unusable. I took photos as proof and happy to share them with VRBO as i did with hosts. This was not acceptable. Now i understand why Airbnb cancelled their listing, i thought it was fishy when that happened to my reservation, i should have not taken the risk booking it through VRBO.
