This place was a real gem in DC. Cheaper and nicer than the local hotels as well as A++ communication with the host. Checking in and out was a breeze. The space was clean and welcoming. Would absolutely stay here again!

The apartment is a nice, quiet, space with everything a couple of people (or perhaps max. four, using the couch as well) need for a short stay. It is kept very clean and appliances are modern. The location is about 15 minutes' walk from the closest restaurants on H Street. Street parking seems easily available--best in front of the nearby school, a block or less away. Note that the apartment is more than 10 minutes from the U.S. Capitol unless going by car or bus. The host was excellent, extremely responsive.

Perfect for our overnight trip

Small place that was perfect for two adults and a ten year old. We really don’t require much, especially for a single night, but the place was just as described.

Family trip to D.C.

Cozy, charming place with easy access to city (only 3 blocks from streetcar) and shopping & restaurants nearby on H Street. Much more comfortable than hotel, with full kitchen and separate bedroom. (We brought twin air mattress so all could sleep in bedroom, with kiddo on an earlier bedtime, and not convert couch.) Would stay again!

Fantastic 1br apt with pull-out sofa for extra sleeping. Area was quiet. I would highly recommend this place. The only downside would be the stores and restaurants are a moderate walk. They are very nice however.

Wonderful stay!

Everything was clean and all of the essentials were there. Other folks have mentioned the neighborhood not being the greatest, which I agree with, but we chose to just not walk after dark. The bus stop is on the same block which made it super easy to get around. Owner was responsive and pleasant. Highly recommend :)

Awesome Place to Crash

Friends and I were in DC for a music festival and this was the perfect place to crash after a full day and night of dancing. Super easy to get rideshares to and from the event from here. Felt safe for it being in DC and we were out both nights until the early AM hours. The house was super clean and modern and perfect for our needs. We will 100% stay here again if we come down for the festival next year!

A fine garden-level apartment. As with nearly all apartment units/properties that exist for the express purpose of vacation rental, there are little things that a permanent resident would add or upgrade, but for a few nights visiting DC, this place was great.

short DC getaway

The property was as listed. Everything was new/modern. Shower was heaven. Parking was very easy around the block. Getting to the capital district was easy and I was surprised how cheap garage parking was downtown. We saw so many sights. Wholefoods was our go to for food.

Perfect for our daughter's graduation weekend in DC

We were in town for our daughter's graduation from GW so we weren't in the apartment that much. It had everything we needed and was very clean. We would have liked it the outdoor light to the apartment was on when we checked in because it is a basement apartment and we arrived after dark but other than that, we were happy with it.

Clean and quiet

The apartment was clean and comfortable. The host was very responsive when I had a question. Parking outside was plentiful. Bonus: there’s a park just around the block, which my kids loved. Brand new washer and dryer. Pull out sofa is just a fold down futon. Not terribly uncomfortable, but not a sofa bed. Overall, a great place to stay.

Close to city center

The basement apartment is super cute, clean, and welcoming. The kitchen is small but functional- a baking sheet that fits in the oven would be helpful, appreciated the microwave and toaster oven! We usually took an Uber into the city but the Metro was helpful too. We were able to walk to Whole Foods and Union District- the neighborhood could make some nervous but we felt fine. Overall we were very comfortable and enjoyed our stay in DC! Thank you :)

À propos de l’hôte

Hôte : Montello Manor

Image de profil de l’hôte
Hi! I’m a DC local who loves to travel, build things, and (slowly) teach myself guitar. I’ve been opening my home to guests for years because I genuinely believe the best way to experience a city is to live in it — not just see it. I’m happy to share local tips, but I’ll give you your space and let you explore on your own terms.

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement

Staying here gives you a genuine feel for DC life beyond the monuments. Trinidad is a close-knit, diverse neighborhood in Northeast DC — the kind of place where neighbors still say hello on the street. I’ve lived on this block for over a decade and know nearly everyone by name. You’ll leave having actually experienced DC, not just toured it.

Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique

Most DC short-term rentals put you in a high-rise or a tourist corridor. This apartment puts you 2 blocks from one of DC’s best neighborhood strips, a short walk from Union Market, and 10 minutes from the Metro — in a bright, private space that feels like a real DC home. The full-height ceilings and oversized windows set it apart from nearly every other basement rental you’ll find in the city.
