We booked this property for the quiet location and amenities. The house is large and uncluttered. The layout has two bedrooms (casitas) separate from the main house, which was fine (we didn't use) but renters should note.Unfortunately, the property is poorly maintained for the price. The kitchen is oddly stocked. Heating the pool and hot tub cost an extra 10%, which should be more clearly disclosed. The host (Tom) was responsive but there were too many for a high-rated, exceptional stay. On arrival, we could not enter due to the passcode being set incorrectly and had to contact the host for access.Cleanliness was a major concern. The main bedroom had clearly been slept in, hair was on the sheets, and we had to change them ourselves. The mattress protector had a large red stain consistent with menstrual blood. The second bedroom had shaver clippings and toothpaste in the sink. Kitchen utensils and dishes were greasy and had to be washed. When baking, the oven started smoking due to grease buildup and clearly needs to be cleaned. The fridge froze our produce overnight. Maintenance issues included screen doors coming off-track when opened. We paid extra for an inoperable golf cart, no refund was provided. While Tom provided explanations, these systemic issues should not become the guestâs responsibility. For a high-end rental, cleaning and maintenance need improvement. This could be a great property, but at this price, we would look elsewhere for a family stay.
