Mayer House in downtown Spearfish

Mayer House is a non-smoking property. It is located four blocks from downtown Spearfish in the quiet, original town district. Mayer House is half of a duplex; with the owner/manager and his spouse residing in the other unit. The house is a single-story structure and includes a kitchen, washer and dryer, internet, cable TV, air conditioning, and a deck with outdoor seating. The house does not include a garage and the kitchen does not include a dishwasher.

Deposit for Sturgis Rally in August. Guests making a reservation that includes the period August 1 through August 14 will be required to make a Sturgis deposit. The Sturgis deposit is for $300.00 and is non-refundable. The deposit will be requested by the property owner within seven days of creation of the reservation. The deposit will not be an extra fee; it is a nonrefundable early payment of a portion of the rental amount due. The purpose of the deposit is to protect the property owner from a Sturgis reservation cancellation that results in a vacancy during Sturgis. The Sturgis deposit is the only amount that a cancellation will cost a guest for a Sturgis cancellation.

Quiet and private place to stay

We enjoyed our stay here! It’s in the center of town so close to anything you want to do in town, along with being close to other towns near by to visit! We enjoyed our stay, the place was great and gave the peaceful vibe we were looking for while in town. Would highly recommend staying here while needing a place to stay during a vacation!

This was a great stay all around. The town of Spearfish is beautiful and has great places to eat. Spearfish canyon is one of the most beautiful places I've ever been and the hiking was excellent. Scott was a great host.

Spearfish trip

We enjoyed staying here so much. We would sit and plan our day either on the deck or at the little kitchen table. We had a few meals here everything we needed. We enjoyed the deck in the evening. Even seen deer walking down the street.

Loved this place!

The house is as described. First time ever that we didn't have to half of the cleaning before we checked out. Cleaning fee was reasonable and it covered all. Amazing! The neighborhood was quite & pleasant. The location was great for us. We enjoyed watching the bunnies in the morning and afternoon on the deck period

Booked this for my parent's to stay atvwhile visiting my brother. They thoroughly enjoyed it, it was clean and well taken care of. Property was exceptional and communicated well with my patents and more than willing to address any concerns they might have had as well as leaving information to contact him should he be out of town. Will definitely book this again for them on there next visit.......If its available

Spearfish research

We are close to retiring. We wanted to research spearfish as a retirement destination. We found the town to be clean and welcoming. Spearfish canyon is a beautiful scenic walking and driving area, very close to the house. The stores and restaurants are close. Within walking or a short drive. The property was quite, clean, and very reasonably priced. Would be glad to recommend to friends and family.

Will stay here again!

Our stay at this property was perfect for our need. This Spearfish trip was for a family members funeral. There was room in the home for a few of us to gather together between events. This home is well kept. Everything is functional and all you need is there. We appreciated the cleanliness and the comfortable beds. Our interaction with the owner was pleasant and Scott was very accommodating. We needed to extend the stay for one of our family members and he readily arranged that for us. We will definitely stay here again on future trips. The location is handy to whatever direction you go, it’s private and well maintained.

Beware! Had to get law enforcement involved in order to get refunded!

Host double booked this house, said he had another house for us to stay in, turned out to be a unfinished home that was not liveable, told us to kill a few hours so he could get the house available and get bedding together, upon arrival the house was under construction and was not liveable, the bed had sheets that the host personally slept on days before, expected us to provide new sheets and blankets, kitchen and bathroom were unfinished, no curtains or shades in bedrooms, hours was a mess with building supplies everywhere, When asked about a refund the host said he didn't want to deal with it right now and left us homeless for the night. Host told us he wouldn't answer any phone calls and that he was going to bed for the night. Luckily spearfish PD helped us get a hold of VRBO and we were issued a refund later that night. The host was very unprofessional and told us at least we had a roof over our heads at the expensive of $1800...I would never recommend anyone stay at Scott's homes, he lied over the phone, over text and in person!

Scott retired from the motel business (Bell's Motor Lodge Motel, Spearfish) in 2019. He is a avid hiker and gardener. Current interests include upgrades to the Mayer House and growing fruit trees in Spearfish. Scott is married and has six grown children.

Voici pourquoi l’hĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement

The Mayer House was built in the 1890's and thus represents early, small house architecture in Spearfish. The house has been renovated periodically and currently sports a new bathroom, carpeting, and exterior deck. The kitchen was new in 2006.

A two-story addition was completed in the 1990's by Bob Mayer. Bob had a growing family that needed much more room. Originally the addition was open to the kitchen in the original house. Upon purchase in 2006, Scott closed off the addition such that it is only accessible from the back door. This addition is currently Scott's residence.
