The Great Escape Lake Michigan Lake House

Enjoy your vacation or a family get together in this spacious 4 bedroom 3 bath with the second story as your master bedroom with an office/sitting room and a widows watch on the 4th floor to enjoy coffee in the mornings and see lake views. The home has AC for those warm summer days and nights. The walkout basement has a gas fireplace to relax, enjoy tv and warm up while looking outside at the beautiful woods.
Very close to the locally loved Bass Lake swimming outlet that provides warm water to swim with Lake Michigan right there next to it, enjoying miles of beach to walk. No need to bring or rent these items - there are 3 hard single person kayaks, 2 inflatable two person kayaks, 2 canoes and 2 paddleboards provided for you during your stay to put into Bass Lake to paddle the outlet to the beach. We have beach chairs and umbrellas, assortment of life vests , games - cornhole and a volleyball net along with 3 bicycles for your use. The widows watch is a perfect location to sit and enjoy the sounds of waves crashing along the shores of Lake Michigan with its spectacular sunsets. Each bedroom provides a private deck to sit in tranquility and view the quiet nature. Downtown Pentwater is less than a 10 minute drive, Ludington is only 10 miles away and Silver Lake is about 25 minutes away.
The spacious dining area is perfect for a large group. The kitchen is well equipped with all common needed appliances to enjoy easy grilling on the deck or a large feast for friends or family. There are two refrigerators, a washer and dryer, propane outdoor grill, pack n play, highchair and many other amenities . A firepit is located in the back of the home to roast marshmallows and enjoy the evenings. Also available are smart Roku tv's (in each bedroom, family room and the finished basement) and wireless internet (the wi-fi is great for anyone needing to do some work). Workout equipment is located in the basement area. We have available a queen and twin air mattress. This home is located in a perfect location also for your beautiful fall color tour getaway! Crystal Mountain is about 70 miles from here for winter skiing and fun.

Family Reunion

Great spot for our whole family. Plenty of space for our entire family which included 4 children under age 2.Was great to be able to wade in the outlet up to Lake Michigan
 only about 50 yards.Sunsets and beach were picture perfect.

Annual family vacation

Great location. Very well equipped with *everything* a family would need for a secluded vacation in Lake Michigan. Just bring your clothes and a toothbrush! Bass Lake access is a big bonus.

Family beach weekend

We had a great stay at this unique property. We loved the proximity to the beach and the quiet of the woods. Rick was a wonderful host and gave us great tips on local playgrounds, fish fry restaurants, and beaches. The house was well-stocked for a group.

Premier Michigan lodging!

The house & location were top-notch, and Rick was an amazing, premier host. We were nine people and were very nicely accommodated. The host supplied pretty much every water equipment and toys anyone could want (non-motorized), and so many games & puzzles & movies for any housebound times. Excellent stay enjoyed by all!

Lake Michigan

It was a lovely house with great amenities. The owner, Rick, was very accommodating and couldn’t be nicer. He told me “you don’t need to bring anything” and he was right! The house had everything necessary for a week at Lake Michigan. The only drawback for me was that it was a bit of a trek through the inlet to get to the beach. The listing was clear about this, but I’m 76 and it was a bit much for me. This is a great place for younger adults and kids - they have bikes, kayaks, a canoe, tons of games, etc. We had a great week and would recommend this house.

Absolutely Amazing

This place has something for everyone. Lake Michigan access in the front, Bass Lake outlet in the back, and tons of amenities to use while you are there. We have stayed at lots of different places and this was the best!

Wonderful Get-away!

Everything is wonderful about this place. It's a large and beautiful and super-well appointed house in a great location. The host is friendly, very helpful and responds quickly. Plenty of things to do both at home and in the area. My partner and I really enjoyed our stay and plan to return. Highly recommended!

The house was great. Lots of room. Lots of beach stuff in the garage. There were canoes and kayaks that we used to get our beach stuff to Lake Michigan. We just pushed the loaded canoe down the inlet, about thigh high water. There is a small dam just before the lake that we had to portage around and it was difficult if there were other boats from Bass Lake anchored there. There were lots of games and puzzles. We stayed with our entire family which included 3 kiddos under 5. The stairs to the upper level do not have a railing so they are open to floor below which was a little nerve racking at times. There is not an actual view of the beach as there are two large houses between this house and the beach. Overall nice place to stay.

A perfect resting stop while traveling through Michigan!

My family and I were so happy with this lake house! It is in a gorgeous location that allowed us to explore the area! We love lighthouses and beaches, and we were able to see beautiful examples of both! There is SO much to do here at this house--we wish we could have stayed longer! Last minute

Our family rented this property at the end of summer as a last minute getaway. The house was exactly as advertised. Enough activities inside and out to keep everyone busy the entire stay. The owner is a quick phone call or text away.

Worked well for a family gathering

We had a nice stay here with family and the house accommodated our group of 5 adults and 4 kids well enough. The access to Lake Michigan through the narrow waterway was fun and the shallows there were great for the young kids to splash around and play. The house itself is a bit treacherous for exploring toddlers, but we were able to block some areas off and make it work alright. The house is fully stocked with everything you might need. The host was very friendly and communicative. The location provided reasonably easy access to the Luddington area.

Perfect Michigan Getaway

My family and I had an absolute blast staying here. Family friendly! Even had a high chair and pack and play. Beautiful location tucked in the forest with a view from the top story of Lake Michigan. Access to the waterfront from a river. The owner was communicative and extremely helpful. We had such a fantastic time staying here and recommend it as the perfect Michigan getaway. Also, Pentwater and Luddington are so cute with lovely shopping and some good restaurants. Cannot recommend enough!

Amazing Beach Home with Everything!!

This home had it all!! A wonderul host who communicated quite well and wonderful accommodations for the 8 of us. The kitchen was stocked with everything you can imagine, even a margarita machine! There were plenty of beach toys, chairs, umbrellas and a giant floating mat for the lake. The canoe came in handy for hauling our beach stuff to the water. Rick, our All-Star Host, was so helpful in recommending places to eat, play or where to get our family photo on the beach. He even called back to make sure everything was going well at the house. We'll definitely be using this VRBO again!

Two weeks of fun and relaxation

Our family rented this Lake house for two weeks. Family members were free to come and go during this period of time. There was plenty of room to spread out and enjoy games, cards and good conversation. We had real family togetherness. Walking the channel to Lake Michigan was an adventurous experience as was kayaking down the channel to Bass Lake. The many stairs for a person with any walking disability could be a challenge. The host and hostess were thoughtful, accommodating, and always on call when needed. Happy memories were made by all. Thanks for this special time.

Beautiful home and gorgeous sunsets on Lake Michigan

The house is conveniently located between Lake Michigan and Bass lake. The house was perfect for our family. It was very clean and provided everything you need and more for the kitchen! A huge dining room table was perfect for shared meals and game nights. We used the kayaks provided and rented additional ones from pentwateroutfitters which were delivered right to the house. We found kayaks to be easiet way to access both the lakes. There is a steep incline to get to Lake Michigan but after a few trips, it became easier! There are steps leading to the waterway right next to the house where you can view the warm outlet water leading to Lake Michigan. We were able to fish right at the house. We also rented a pontoon boat on Bass lake for the day which is a beautiful and clean lake. The owner was very friendly and attentive. I would recommend staying here!

Perfect lake getaway!

This lovely lake house provided our family with a perfect lake vacation. The location (at the junction of Lake Michigan and Bass Lake) provided lots of water and beach access, and there were amenities galore--every type of chair, umbrella, float, toy, etc. you could want for playing in the water. Although we did not use them (because we had a baby with us), there were bikes, kayaks, canoes, exercise equipment, and a foosball table as well. The house was big enough that our party of 8 could spread out, but also had lovely spaces where we could come together and play cards and games, grill burgers and corn, make s'mores, watch sunsets, and relax. Rick was an excellent host and had anticipated all our needs. He gave us a great overview upon arrival and was readily available by phone or text both before and during our stay. The home was well stocked with basic pantry items as well as lots of kitchen amenities, bath and beach towels, a highchair and portacrib, etc. We had a lot of fun relaxing and playing in the waves of Lake Michigan and along the warm, shallow water that connects Lake Michigan to Bass Lake. Many wonderful memories were made in this beautiful home!

Idyllic Family Getaway

Exceptionally well equipped Lakehouse, with a quick easy traipse through the shallows to a beautiful white sand lake Michigan beach. All of the waves and none of the salt of the sea. It was possible to take a kayak in the other direction to Bass Lake (lots of fishing successes!) It was a short drive or longer walk down the beach to Pentwater where there was a selection of three ice cream parlors. (Love HOF!) There is everything at the house that you could possibly need for the beach from beach, chairs, umbrellas, floating islands, towels. Enough space to hide away from the people you were with. The elders enjoyed having balconies off of every room to hang out. The widow’s watch afforded a view of the beach, if you didn’t feel like walking down to see the sunset. The workout equipment helped justify the dietary indiscretions of vacation. Super easy set up for a campfire and s’mores. The kitchen has every appliance you can imagine from popcorn, poppers, crockpots, margarita- maker, toaster oven, perfect size for pizzas and two fridges so you don’t have to lug beverages upstairs. The gas grill got a work-out with our group, as did the washer-dryer. There were plenty of eat-out options but we cooked in for the most-part. We had a front row seat for a thunderstorm and Wi-Fi that allowed us to watch the women’s World Cup soccer and kept the preteen/teenagers happy. Mike was super-helpful with links to all the local attractions. Super!

Excellent property with Lake Michigan and river access

Family enjoyed for Labor Day weekend. We took advantage of being within waking distance to Lake Michigan and had direct access to a small channel / river that connect Bass Lake to Lake Michigan. We enjoyed the kayaks and my son fished on the river daily. Property was very clean and was well stocked with toiletries. Will be plannng a return trip there in future for sure!

If you like water activities without large numbers of people, at this location you get the opportunity to enjoy magnificent Lake Michigan, Bass Lake and the outlet/creek from Bass Lake to Lake Michigan. Bass Lake Outlet which is walking distance from the house is a perfect place to relax and swim when Lake Michigan water temperatures are too cold.

We have tried to include many things so our guests do not have to pack as much. This is a wonderful home to enjoy friends and family in. The Lake Michigan sunsets are stunning and being able to enjoy BOTH Lake Michigan and Bass Lake is a treat. Roasting marshmallows by the firepit enjoying the sounds of nature or listening to music with family and friends make the best memories.
