The Clocktower Serene Stay at Herons Rise Vineyard
Nestled amid 12 acres of picturesque gardens within the Heron’s Wine vineyard estate, 'The Clocktower' combines country-style comfort with rural tranquillity and proximity to a host of attractions. Surrounded by manicured gardens, this cottage accommodates up to four guests and features light-filled living and dining rooms, ocean views, and a cosy fireplace. Just 30 minutes from Hobart, it’s only two minutes from the dreamy seaside village of Kettering and the Bruny Island Ferry.
Step into a sanctuary of rustic charm and modern comfort at ‘The Clocktower’, nestled within the picturesque Heron’s Wine Vineyard estate. This cosy country-style cottage, crowned by the original clock tower, offers an unforgettable stay whether you’re seeking a romantic getaway or a tranquil retreat for small families or groups. The living area beckons with two inviting double lounges, a crackling slow-combustion fireplace, and a flat-screen Smart TV, creating the perfect setting for relaxation and enjoyment.
You’ll see and enjoy the vineyard scenery on the property, which adds to the charm of the surroundings. Please note, however, that it is not a working vineyard, it is there purely to enhance the ambiance of the property surroundings.
Cook up delightful meals in the open-plan kitchen, fully equipped with timber benchtops and all the essentials. Dine in the intimate setting of the rounded dining table, with seating for four, or take your meals outside to the patio, where two charming seats await under the sky, offering a serene spot for morning coffee or evening wine.
Rest easy in the primary bedroom, featuring a plush queen bed, or in the second bedroom, furnished with two cosy single beds. The modern bathroom ensures your stay is as comfortable as it is memorable.
Additional features include ample off-street parking.
During summer, there are Tiger snakes about so please wear closed shoes when walking about the property. We have several beehives and a small duck pond which is not enclosed, and a creek which borders the property, and guests with children should not allow them to wander about the property unaccompanied.
During your stay, you and your group will have the entire house to yourselves. Please make yourselves at home!
Just 30 minutes from Hobart and a world away from stress, Herons Vineyard is located a mere 1.5 km from the enchanting seaside village of Kettering. Not only does Kettering offer the only ferry service to Bruny Island, but it’s also a delightful destination in itself.
Enjoy alfresco dining with stunning views of the Kettering Marina at Seawall Cafe and The Oyster Cove Inn. For a fabulous brew, head to the Bruny Island Gateway Cafe at the end of Ferry Road, which transforms into an Asian Fusion haven from 4-9 pm. Don’t miss the roving pizza van on Friday and Saturday nights!
Indulge in exquisite chocolates from a local chocolatier at Nutpatch Chocolate Shop, and savour a cup of coffee at the boutique Steamhouse Coffee Shop, a favourite among locals.
The Bruny Island ferry departs regularly and takes about 20 minutes. Bruny Island is famous for its cheeses, wine, whiskey, seafood, stunning scenery, coastline, walks, and native wildlife, including wallabies (even an albino one!) and seals. It’s one of Tasmania’s top-rated day trips—a must-do!
Kingston Beach, just 20 minutes away, offers a variety of eateries and shops, perfect for lunch or an ice cream by the beach.
Explore the beautiful southern coastline and discover the Woodbridge Emporium, known for its delicious cakes and lunches, and Peppermint Bay. Further along, visit Grandvewe Cheeses, where you can enjoy free cheese tastings, coffee, or a meal, along with magical views. Nearby, Five Bob Farm features a 3 km sculpture trail.
Herons Vineyard is also a great base for a 40-minute drive to the Huon Valley, renowned for its wineries, fresh produce, and spectacular scenery.
There’s plenty to do—or not do—whether you enjoy the quaint seaside village vibe, the gateway to Bruny Island, or the central location just a short drive from everything else!
Due to local regulations, we can happily host you for up to 90 nights. Any bookings that exceed this duration will be cancelled by Vrbo.
