Retreat to a Sanctuary

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It was a very relaxing and fun experience. Although we "did" a lot of the local sights, we mostly enjoyed sitting on the deck and taking in the view and relaxing.

Fun at Hedgehog October 2026

Rating Details: The property manager was more than helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: KILLER views from the entire side of the home. Great location for walking to the beach, our Scenic loop every morning, to Mission Ranch for a cocktail, to Ocean Ave. shops and dinner. We stay in a Sanctuary Home every other October for the month... different every time. This house was a great find, as we love to walk and enjoy being IN Carmel. It is also very convenient to access Hwy. 1 and all the hikes up and down Asilomar, Carmel, Big Sur, Monterey and Carmel Valley....that we do on a daily basis. Hedgehog could use a little TLC by updating den area furniture....very uncomfortable. Mater bed was fine. Also patio furniture and cushions were really a shame. The cushions were literally shredded and foam forms crumbling out. All the outside furniture was old and worn-out. WE often used the relatively nice new grill. This is NOT the standards we are used to from Sanctuary. Although the baths were nicely updated and flooring mostly really nice, the woodwork, cabinets, internal doors and library area was in need of replacement. Although we mentioned these issues multiple times, nothing was done while we were there. It was really great that the hedge was trimmed so the view from the deck was clear and also the beach chairs available for use. The landscape lighting is very nice.

Extended stay in beautiful Carmel by the Sea

I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: My husband and I stayed in Carmel during the winter. Hedgehog is a lovely small cottage. It has both charm and quirks. The bedrooms are comfortable and nicely sized, the bathrooms are great, and the living room and dining room are small but adequate. Kitchen also small but workable for one cook at a time. I was glad that only two of us were staying here.The home would benefit from some minor investments. Much of the cookware and utensils were cheap plastic, which I like to avoid using so I don’t eat plastic with my food. The couch is hard and uncomfortable. Carmel by the Sea is a vacation town, full of tourists and visitors and part time residents. The beach is stunning, and it’s close to gorgeous parks, drives, and places to adventure
