We had the pleasure of speaking with the host, Jorge, and he was super interesting and provides lots of local tips! The property is gorgeous with lots of bird viewing opportunities. We enjoyed being able to walk to Stella's, the local art markets and the Whole foods. We would stay again!

This place was peaceful and we felt just like we were staying in the jungle because the bedrooms have these panoramic glass windows. The owners were available for any questions and left guides for Lit’s if adventures. We wound up zip lining and it was AMAZING experience for the kids. We also hiked through the cloud forest and ate at their little cafe. We had such a good time! We saw Monkeys and hummingbirds while cooking dinner and enjoyed the most beautiful sunsets right from our back porch while we ate dinner. The place was just perfect! They had cute bedtime stories for us to read to the kids and anyways, we just loved our experience at this home. I would come back for sure!

Bright Forest Retreat provided us a great place to stay in Monteverde. Close to everything Monteverde has to offer. We stayed in the 2nd level unit which had great views and a rustic cabin like feel. Shortly after we arrived we saw a monkey high in the trees just outside the front door. Everything worked well but I would caution the use of the safe. Probably my error but I did get locked out and had to contact the host for assistance to get it open. I would stay again in the future.

The pictures appear to be for the 3rd floor and we stayed in the unit on the second floor. Accommodations were fine and the unit was well stocked. Did get to see the monkeys on the second afternoon. We stayed 2 nights and it served our needs.

Great 3 days

Jorge and Miriam were very responsive , and we enjoyed our time there . We had a few visits from spider monkeys in the trees nearby . The trees also provided enough shade to keep the house from getting too hot and didn’t need AC. Thanks !

Very nice apartment. Friendly owner. Clean, nice balcony and in close proximity of the city of Monteverde and the Cloud Forest. Stella's Café just 100 m from the apart.. is a beautiful place for breakfast.

Incredible Nature Retreat, Great for Telework

I had an amazing 5 night stay with Jorge and Myriam and could not be happier. There is a dedicated parking spot behind the gated entrance, and a pedestrian entrance if you are traveling without a car. I was able to telecommute and video conference easily, and you are walking distance to two cafes and coffee zhops. The fig tree is always full of birds, including visits from toucans, toucanets, and many more. There were also monkey visitors 3 days in a row and agoutis in the yard. I arrives late the first night due to a flight delay, but Jorge ensured I was able to find the place safely and gave incredible recommendations for nature activites in the area. The unit is on the second floor, giving a privileged view of the area and the tree line, and is accessible via a ramp with just one step, making it easy to bring in your things. The kitchen and unit is well equipped, and I could not have asked for anything more to make my stay feel like home. Cannot wait to visit again

Beautiful setting

It was the “wet” season and thunderstorms occurred most afternoons. It was delightful to sit on the balcony and play games and watch the storms. Easy access to restaurants in town and other activities.

Great place for adventures in Monteverde

We had a great time in this apartment. It is a 2 minute walk to Stella's and a local artist market. It was a short drive into Santa Elena and also the Biological Reserve. It was a great base for our adventures around Monteverde.

Birdwatching extraordinaire!

What a great spot for birding! We saw so many right off the balcony. We also saw capuchins, squirrels, and a coati. The apartment was clean and just as advertised. Wonderful spot, close to Monteverde, Curi Cancha, and Santa Elena. Hoping to return in another year!

An amazing location!

Great location for visiting Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve (get there as early as you can... we stayed all day). We also loved walking the property this apartment is on and nearby Crandell Memorial Reserve. Sitting on the balcony was a treat in itself! We saw many Emerald Toucanets, a wood rail, a gorgeous Toucan, Turquoise-browed motmots, chachalacas, and so many others as well. Plus the monkeys! Walking in the Crandell Reserve, we saw Agouti and countless incredible birds. It's a treasure of a location. The shower and shower door need a bit of work, but we managed, and I was grateful to have a washer/dryer as this was the last stage of our time in Costa Rica. It was a bit warm, and would loved to have been able to shade from the sun at the kitchen window - because it made the apartment so warm. But once the sun dropped, it cooled off nicely. Hosts were sweet and helpful as could be. This place gets all the stars!

Great stay in Monteverde

We had a very nice stay in this property. Just two minute walk to Stella’s which had excellent food. Place was clean and comfortable. It’s very dark there at night so do take flashlights. There is a magnificent tree in the back where you can see birds on a daily basis.

Checking out the Cloud Forest

This was a good location, central to the areas we wanted to visit. Lots of birds and other wildlife seen from the deck. Groceries and restaurants close by. The roads are not for beginners.

Great rainforest location

This property was as advertised. The owners were very helpful and available. Cute, comfortable apartment with a great deck for birding. The grounds were a bit wild but it suited the environment. Walking distance to a little grocery store and restaurants. The forest reserve which was accessible by trails from the property was a bonus.

Great Monteverde Location

We loved the location. Stella's is fantastic for breakfast and the coop is great for a quick lunch and souvenir shopping, both a short walk down the hill from the property. The short road to the property is small and easy to miss, but is right next to Stella's. The cloud forest preserve is a short drive away, though there are other reserves very close to the location plus a waterfall. The property itself was nice, and we loved being able to open the large windows in the morning before heading out. The only downside is that we didn't stay longer to enjoy the area!

Cloud Forest Retreat

The location is perfect for visiting the nearby Reserves, and convenient to a couple of nice restaurants and a small grocery store. The temperature is perfect, and even refreshingly cool when it mists. And that was an experience...bright, direct sun with microscopic mist blowing through! As advertised, the apartment is compact with one bathroom, so you need to be comfortable with your traveling companions. Additionally, as noted in other reviews, this is the middle unit and you can definitely hear the upstairs neighbors walk and if there's children, its noticible. Bottom line, this is an inexpensive rental with basic amenities in a great location. If you enter with those expectations its a great value.

I am native to Monteverde and have lived most of my life in the area. I am a Naturalist guide (inquire about tours), biologist who has worked extensively in education/conservation. My wife is originally from Morocco, speaks 4 languages (English, French, Spanish, Luxembourguish) works in bringing solar to nonprofits and public health. We have a young boy that keeps us busy and happy.

When you stay with us, you are helping support a local family with deep ties to the community. We take great care to keep our place clean and hope our guests are comfortable in the time they spend indoors. The apartment has two separate bedrooms, both with full beds. The bathroom offers hot water shower, low-flow toilet, and washer and dryer unit. There is a great deck right off the kitchen with nice view towards Monteverde central. Be prepared to spot some birds and occasional monkeys.

Monteverde has a great grass field where locals like to hang out in the afternoons (weather permitting). Plus you can't beat dining at Tramontis, or Cabure, enjoy the Bat jungle and chocolate tour, join a coffee tour, or visit CASEM (women's coop). Plus the best bakeries in town (Zuccaros and Stellas) are right here. Tour companies will pick you up in front of the coffee house. We are happy to help you book tours and guide you to some of the best Monteverde has to offer. We will be as hands-on as you like or simply give you the keys and see you as you check out.
