“Playing Hooky” a relaxing waterfront paradise.

Come “play hooky” in our little piece of paradise. Hardwood floors throughout, full size washer and dryer, and room for the whole family. Sitting on the second level porch you will enjoy gorgeous views of the Gulf as well as Dog Island. Boaters can put their boats in only a quarter mile away at the convenient boat ramp at Lanark. Playing Hooky is the perfect place for families. The beach is in your front yard so no long, heavy hauls with kids and toys.

Enjoy the downstairs covered patio complete with a picnic table and a grill with plenty of room to entertain. In the colder months be sure to bring your s’more necessities and relax by the outdoor fire pit.

Fishing, shelling, shopping, eating, golfing, boating; you can do it all in the small town of Carrabelle. Come see for yourself and start “playing hooky” now! **please note the dock in the picture is the neighbors and cannot be used by our guests.**

We loved the place! It was perfect for our younger kids to play on the beach and in the shallow water! The views were awesome, the house was clean and had everything needed to have a enjoyable time!

Weekend getaway for our daughter’s 15 birthday. Family of 4. This place was absolutely perfect! Very relaxing. Great views. Bringing binoculars next time! There were blue herons, pelicans, seagulls, and willets (we think). We were so comfy in the house and slept great! We would definitely book again!!

This place was perfect! The views are amazing. The home was perfect and cozy for our family of 6. Absolutely amazing hosts and we will be traveling again. This is not far from all the spring break fun but without having to stay right in the chaos. We were able to relax and slow down a bit and beach right out the back door!

The perfect family getaway

Playing Hooky was the perfect set up for our quiet family getaway! Carrabelle is a very cute town. We enjoyed watching dolphins every morning and even saw manatees one evening. Lori was amazing to work with, anything I needed she was quick to respond and so helpful!

Paradise at it’s best

We absolutely loved our stay at “Playing Hooky” It was so peaceful and relaxing, just what we needed. The house was clean & had everything we needed for our vacation. Coffee on the porch in the mornings watching the sunrise & dolphins play was amazing! We will definitely be back :)

Great location

This is our 2nd time staying at Playing Hooky and we will definitely be back. The house is very nice and less than a mile from the boat landing. Overall it was a great mini vacation!

Just as the pictures show! A wonderful little water front home with great fishing just steps from the deck! Well furnished with just enough decor to make you feel right at home. A stocked kitchen for all the cooking you may want to do! Very responsive owners and very nice neighbors!

We gave this ocean view property a poor rating because we were unpleasantly surprised and appalled with the black mold on all ceiling vents and on the ceiling around the vents. There was also black mold along the caulk, what was left of the caulk, in the master bathroom shower. The bathrooms were not as clean as they could have been. The cabinets under the bathroom vanities were cluttered with previous renters shampoo bottles and junk that were just tossed in there. The towels had stains, so it left one to wonder if the towels had even been laundered. The closet in the master bedroom was spacious and uncluttered. The same can not be said for the closet in the side bedroom: a cluttered mess. The dresser in the back bedroom had missing dresser knobs and no usable closet if one needed it. However, all 3 bedrooms seemed to have adequate storage with dressers. The family room, kitchen and bedrooms were spacious. It was nice having a laundry room. Just don't look up at the horrible ceiling vents. Because of the black mold throughout the house, we do not recommend renting this place. Also, the inside of the house shows a lot of wear and tear. For the price we paid, we feel we overpaid. We cut our stay short because we didn't want to look at the mold or breathe it anymore. This was the worst place we ever stayed because of the black mold and uncleanliness.

Great Family Getaway

We celebrated two family member birthdays and enjoyed relaxing days sitting on the back deck enjoying the beautiful unobstructed views of the water. We also enjoyed watching the fish jump amd dolphins swim by. There was plenty of space for our family of 7 and the beds were very comfortable.The kitchen is well stocked and has everything you need. Would recommend this house a nice, quiet getaway!

Best place to relax and enjoy

We had an Amazing weekend with the family just relaxing , enjoying the views , watching dolphins and riding around the small towns. Lori was quick to answer any questions we had. house is very cozy, just what we needed. We will definitely be back to this property.

Perfect area!

This home is so picture perfect! The view of the beach from the porch was so ideal! The beach was so nice to have so close to the house. The area of the home is very nice and the town of Carabelle is close by with an IGA grocery that was very nicely stocked! We chose this home as it was close to family and it will be a home that we keep in mind for future vacations! Thank you for opening your home to our family!

Perfect secluded Christmas!!!

After 2020 changed our Christmas plans we started looking for the perfect place. We found it in Carabelle! The house was away from all the business and allowed us to just be a family for a week. Also there is a delicious fresh fish market down the road! This place had everything we needed and more!!!

Sweet Beach Getaway

Playing Hooky was an excellent place to stay. Wonderful guiet location with a host that was so helpful. The beds were very comfortable, well set up kitchen, very nicly furnished living & dining and a beautiful porch overlooking the water. Enjoyed a relaxing fire at the firepit on our last night. Great attention to details, even the toilet paper was nice. Looking forward to staying again. I highly recommend this property.

So relaxing!

We went for our 2nd annual girls’ trip. It was such a relaxing place to stay for a few days. We were able to enjoy our time sitting by the water and the porch was a great way to spend mornings and evenings. We saw crabs and rays and dolphins daily. The area is away from the hustle and bustle of the busier tourist areas. Would be great for small kids, couples and was perfect for our girls’ trip.

Amazing View

The house is a lot closer to the water than you may think. We loved sitting on the porch chatting and enjoying the view. We didn’t spend much time inside, but there was plenty of space! We loved it! We used it as a home base for an FSU graduation. FSU was hour away, but 100% worth it! Lori was a great host who was responsive to all my questions!
