AS OF SEPTEMBER 1, 2021, RED GATE FARM NO LONGER ACCEPTS PETS

Glimpse the by-gone days of Block Island in this spacious and comfortable Block Island farmhouse. With beautiful views of New Harbor and The Great Salt Pond, the house is a stone’s throw from three marinas, Ball O’Brien Park, and several popular island restaurants.

The house is a gracious example of its era, replete with modern amenities. The kitchen will suit serious cooks and shares an open floor plan with the dining room and a small sitting area, encouraging food preparation and socializing. In addition to the kitchen and dining areas, the first floor has a living room, a parlor and a half bath.

A central staircase leads to the airy second and third floor bedrooms and three full bathrooms. A lower level bedroom has an en- suite bathroom and it’s own entrance.

The front porch is a gem! At once cozy and generous, it invites guests to watch the island wake in the morning and to relax and celebrate the day at sunset.

The owner lives on an adjacent property and can provide assistance in the unlikely event that a rental issue arises. This property rents from Saturday to Saturday and has a 7 day minimum stay.

NO SMOKING OR PETS ARE ALLOWED.

Sheets and towels are not included with this rental. Please contact Block Island Linen Rental to reserve these items.

Wonderful property with space for the whole family at the dinner table and a gorgeous porch for passing the day and wathing gorgeous sunsets! Large kitchen is also a huge plus as is the second refrigerator.

The house is spacious, with comfortable bedrooms and enough bathrooms for our group of 8. Afternoon light is spectacular.The large kitchen has a new gas range and plenty of counter space for cooks. We loved the front porch—far enough from the road that it didn’t feel too public.

Family vacation (all adults)

The house is spacious and welcoming, with a large kitchen for guests who don't want to go out for food every meal. Our party of 8 loved the interior layout and the front porch, where we could take in the perfect late-summer weather. Red Gate Farm is the first house we've rented that is within walking distance of the food and drink establishments and other businesses in New Harbor. Eight thumbs up from us!

Reuniting with friends for over 30 years

The property is a great location away from all the hussle and bustle of downtown. Yet you can walk to the State beach or the Oar Restaurant. Downtown is just a short drive away. We have 7 couples that have been going to the Block and stayed in various homes on the Island. Red Gate fits us the best. The only complaint I heard from members in our group was the mattresses need to be updated. The master bedroom mattress was perfect and that was my wife and I room. The property manager was very responsive to all our need. I highly recommend Red Gate Farm for a family or friends get together. Rick P June 2024

Great spot

Just returned from an 8 day stay at the red gate farm. The house was clean, spacious and well appointed with a perfect location. As the pictures portray, the furniture is older (as is the case with many island homes). We did have issues with creaky floors, doors and doorknobs when trying not to wake our 4 month old and some members of our party had back issues from the beds. None of that would deter me from staying there again, however. The front porch is absolutely amazing and was difficult to leave. I do think the outdoor shower needs to be updated. The water pressure is very poor making it difficult to rinse and there is no privacy. An outdoor shower is a priority for our party so likely will not return for that reason.

Block Island Gem

The house and the location were both excellent. The house was just as described - lots of room, bedrooms all very nice, kitchen very functional. Best was the front porch - we sat out there for hours. While in a relatively busy area, the house is set way back from the street so there's no traffic noise. The view of the harbor from the front porch was amazing as were the sunsets. Great spot in every respect.

Beautiful View

Our family had an amazing stay at Red Gate Farm. The house was very spacious and welcoming. There was plenty of room for our large group. The highlight of the home is definitely the very large front porch with a beautiful unobstructed view of the harbor. We were also in walking distance to great restaurants (The Oar, Dead Eye Dicks), Paynes Dock (bar-live music), and water sport rentals (kayaking, paddle boarding). We look forward to our next visit to Block Island, one of our favorite places. Thanks to Jiff for answering all of our questions!

Wonderful stay in New Harbor

The location of this property is just what we were looking for. It’s peaceful, quiet and has a distant but panoramic view of New Harbor. We were a group of 7 adults. The house is huge. Plenty of space to amble about without feeling the least bit cramped. We cooked at the house every night and it was well stocked. There are 2 refrigerators, which we needed since we were a large group. The dining room table is large and fit all of us for dinner and board games. The home and neighborhood is pet friendly which we appreciated since we had a pup with us. Jennifer, our host, was always available, friendly and helpful. The front porch was delightful and we enjoyed it from morning till night. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Red Gate Farm is spacious, clean, and the location can’t be beat. There was also ample breeze flowing through the house when the windows were open. Some of the furniture smelled musty and was quite beat up. Also, some of the bathrooms didn’t have hand soap. I also thought that sheets and towels ought to be included for a rental in this price range. Linens are available for rent on the island. This seemed odd to me but apparently is common for BI rentals. The wifi is poor so we relied on our phones for internet. However, there is adequate wifi available at the library. Overall, we had a great vacation at Red Gate Farm.

July 4th Fun Times with good friends!

Red Gate Farm was a great choice for our large group vacation. We had 13 people including our golden retriever Bear and his friend Blue. The location is great. Across from the Oar, park, Champlains and overlooking the Great Salt Pond. The deck had lots of seating on the wrap around porch to enjoy sunsets, cocktails and meals together. A short bike ride to the beach and walkable to town also. We had a bunch of teenagers who enjoyed themselves and went on lots of adventures together. We'd definitely stay there again!
