1915 downtown Ithaca home on a double lot, detached enclosed Garage, full Woodshop, beautiful park-like garden on 2 parcels, porch/deck and central air/heat. Walk to the Commons or Wegman’s in this quiet and peaceful South Ithaca neighborhood. The house offers porch and deck entrances to the first floor - 1 BR/1BA (jetted tub) adjacent to the living/dining room/kitchen. The second floor features a loft/office/bedroom/yoga space, two master hall closets, the master bedroom and bathroom. Off street private parking in a detached 2 car garage with large back yard, gardens and deck. Quiet elevated open air deck on quiet Wood Street adds two extra quiet spaces. The tenant and their guests are encouraged to use the entire house during their stay - porch, backyard, deck, BBQ, gardens, loft, kitchen, hall closet space, parking spaces, etc..

Alumni Gathering

Group of cornell alum who just wanted to visit Ithaca for a weekend. Great launchpad VRBO that we used to get to all our activities. Would recommend!

Utterly Disgusting!!!

I thought I was booking a quaint house with a lot of charm. Unfortunately, the pictures that are posted do not show you the amount of personal “stuff” the host has lying around. I think he lives there most of the time, which is fine, but he should remove his personal things and have it cleaned properly so the renters are able to use it without feeling like they are in someone’s house that is currently being occupied. The stench that permeated throughout the house (especially the kitchen) was unbearable. The fridge was dirty and had food in it. I pulled the disgusting wastebasket from under the kitchen sink because I figured we would use it often and didn’t want to keep opening and closing the cabinet door (which was not easy to open and shut), and there was what looked like major water damage under the sink. The downstairs toilet was so disgusting to sit on, it was obvious that it wasn’t cleaned in a timely manner after usage because the front of the seat was black. The bathtub had mold around the entire edge between the tub and wall and hair still in the tub. The upstairs bathroom toilet was just as disgusting with the same black grime on the front of the toilet seat. The shower pan was dark with grime and soap scum, and the tiles were full of mold. And there was hair as well. The sink had a pinkish/reddish ring and was full of tiny hair everywhere (including on the faucet and handles). It looked like someone shaved their beard and left it all over the place. So gross!!! All of the light switches had grime on them. I walked around and started to wipe them with a Clorox wipe and finally gave up because I left like I couldn’t stay here any longer. We decided that we couldn’t stay there and ended up checking into a hotel. I contacted Kevin the next day and asked for half of my money and he said, “I’m sorry the house wasn’t up to your standards but it was cleaned by me as it was for all prior reservations. We are going to have to agree to disagree.” He is correct when he said that it wasn’t up to my standards. I did take pictures of everything I described here as proof. Do not stay at this house unless you have absolutely no standards!!!

Only go if you want to be mislead

Walked in at 4. The owner had mechanical equipment all over, everything was filthy( took pictures to prove ), garbages filled, beds not cleaned, dirt in sinks, showers, toilets, airconditioner broken, over 80 upstairs, neither tv worked, freezer not only filled with food, but filthy. Called owner, he came quickly but used the excuse he mixed up our check in date. However listing said 3 days in between for covid and high.y cleaned. He thought picking up and vacuuming was good. He was not happy I wanted clean sheets, refused to give an extra roll of toilet paper, no soap ,quickly wiped sink but literally no other cleaning.the next day we usedallthefans he left around and then wanted tv to work.everything was a discussion about his divorce and sad life. While I want to have empathy, we drove 2 cars to enjoy our yearly end of summer trip with our grandkids and paid a lot of $ to have the pleasure of all staying together to have a great time. Vrbo line was busy constantly and a t 1am I was so upset and couldn’t sleep. I got through to someone.Finally found another # to report this listing. I still feel we should get either & back( certainly for cleaning) or a future credit or our $ back. Don’t book. The owner is wifty, the place a dirty mess. Lucky for us the weather was great so except for sleeping we were never inside the house. I’m thinking 2 hotel rooms would have cost less and been clean. I’m looking into how to post on social media so no one else has my experience

Rental was advertised with central air conditioning - when we arrived temperature inside 80 degrees - 1 window unit running. 2 days later - owner was able to put in a portable unit to help with cooling. Fridge had to be cleaned before using and freezer was entirely full of food. Strange odor in kitchen turned out to be rotted potatoes and onions which had to be removed and caused infestation of fruit flies for our week of vacation. Kitchen and dishes were dirty and had to be washed prior to using.

My name is Kevin and I came to Ithaca in 1994 for my undergrad studies at Ithaca College, where I met my future wife....and soon to be ex-wife. Like some other “lucky” individuals, after graduate school and some time working in my field of study back in my hometown of Philadelphia, Ithaca called me back and I set up roots. Lived, worked and enjoyed the house with my wife for over 17 years until about 2 years ago, when we agreed to a divorce.

We lived in this home for 17 years, upgraded it to how I envisioned slowly as I could afford the time and materials. I was born and raised in N. Philadelphia and worked for my Grandfather’s Commercial Electrical Contracting Business from 12-22, but picked up most all other trade skills, except welding - making repairs/fixes during your stay very convenient and quick. Combined with my 17 year career in Service and Resort/Hospitality Mgt, I figured that I would share my home and slice of downtown peace with others looking for some Upstate NY peace for the Holidays, as we finalize our divorce and I have time to spend away from Ithaca.
