We fell in love with this area because it captures the "real" Paris. Unlike the more museum-like tourist centers, the 11th/12th arrondissements have a heartbeat. It’s a place where history meets modern energy.

Historically, this was the district of cabinetmakers and artisans. You can still feel that heritage today in the hidden passages and the quiet, paved courtyards (like ours!) that offer a peaceful sanctuary from the bustling city streets.

The Surroundings & What we love most
What we enjoy most is the vibrant, local lifestyle. Everything you need is within a 5-minute walk:

The Marché d’Aligre: This is easily our favorite part of living here. It is one of the oldest and most authentic markets in Paris. We love going there on weekend mornings for fresh produce, flowers, and the flea market (puces). The atmosphere is unbeatable—lively, colorful, and full of character.

The Food Scene: You are surrounded by some of the best bakeries and bistros in the city. Whether you want a traditional croissant or a trendy dinner on Rue de Charonne, you are perfectly placed.

The Balance of Life: We love that we can walk to the trendy Marais for shopping or the Bastille for culture, yet come home to a quiet courtyard where our children can sleep in total peace.

Family-Friendly Spaces: Just a short stroll away is the Coulée verte René-Dumont (an elevated park built on an old railway line)—it’s a beautiful, green way to walk through the city with the kids without worrying about cars.

It’s the perfect mix: you have the convenience of being a major transport hub (Gare de Lyon/Bastille), but the feeling of living in a small, historic French village.

What truly sets our home apart is the unexpected peace and quiet in one of Paris’s most vibrant districts.

In a city known for its "city that never sleeps" energy, finding a place that is both centrally located and silent is a rare luxury. Because our apartment is tucked away in a traditional, private courtyard, you get the best of both worlds:

The Contrast: You step out of the front gate into the historic, bustling energy of Faubourg Saint-Antoine with its shops and cafes, but as soon as you step back inside, the city noise completely disappears.

Modernity within History: While the building reflects the classic Parisian charm of the 11th/12th arrondissement, the interior is completely modernized and tastefully decorated. You aren’t staying in a "typical" cramped rental; you are staying in a spacious, light-filled family home.

Genuinely Family-Ready: Many listings say they are "kid-friendly," but because we live here with our two young daughters (6 and 8), our home is actually designed for families. From the layout to the atmosphere, it feels like a real home, not a sterile hotel room.

The "Disney/Louvre" Connection: Being near Gare de Lyon and Bastille gives you a massive advantage. You can reach the Louvre or Disneyland Paris without changing trains—a huge stress-relief for parents traveling with children.
