Experience a piece of history in the heart of the Texas Hill Country at The Dogtrot, one of the region’s most renowned guest houses.

About the Property
Our charming log cabin is built in the classic Southern “dogtrot” style, featuring sleeping quarters at each end connected by an open breezeway. Originally constructed on the banks of the Cumberland River in Cloyds Kentucky, The Dogtrot was relocated to the Texas Hill Country in 1997. For 10 consecutive years, it has been awarded “Outstanding Quality” by Historic Accommodations of Texas.

The property is entirely smoke-free, ensuring a clean and comfortable stay.

Pure Texas Hill country charm. The cabin has so much history to it. Perfectly furnished. Located close to town and wineries. Robert was a wonderful host. We had the very best stay and will return for certain.

We were greeted by deer every time we were outside. Sitting on the porch watching and listening to wildlife made the weekend getaway relaxing and perfect! And with it being only 5 minutes outside of Fredericksburg made it very convenient too!

Fun Cabin for two!

Beautiful, relaxing, and peaceful. Short drive from Fredericksburg. Easy check in, simple check out. I wished I would have spent more time enjoying the property but shopping/eating/drinking downtown was also fun.
