Dear Ryan and family, We're glad you enjoyed your vacation at our place. Let's start with addressing all the rules that were broken from the very outset, and be clear that you were provided a list of house rules and you signed to acknowledge them, and I will list the relevant ones here Our rental can host 10 people max (higher number is grounds for eviction) No pets allowed ($1000 fine or grounds for eviction) No parking on neighbors property (occupation of 2 different neighbors properties) No attempts at blocking cameras (constant attempts to hide activity) Report any damages right away to the owner (broken microwave) No refunds in the event of inclement weather or natural disasters (one night refund was still offered) Prior to arrival you informed us that you will have friends over for one meal, which we allowed. However, during your entire 1 week stay there were 18 people at the house. Deliberate attempts were made to block the cameras as people came in and out, and also conceal the entry of the dogs. Also, for the dogs, which were not ESA as they weren't leashed. The dogs defecated on our neighbors lawn 3 times, and no attempt was made to clean up by members your party. Our neighbors were forced to clean after you, as well as park far away from their own houses as you had parked on their property. The microwave was not reported to us and we found it in a broken condition after your departure. As to the water issues, yes it is correct that one prior renter had water pressure issues, which happened after Keuka lake flooded and debris clogged our filtration system. The issue was resolved for all the guests that rented in between that flooding issues and your stay. With your constant 18 guests, our filters kept getting clogged, and in 4 days, we had 2 whole house filters replaced, and each service call was done promptly. On your last night when water pressure was totally lost, you fail to mention that the lake flooded again, and levels were the highest they had been in 2 decades. Again, a service man promptly came to try to address the issue, but was unable to do so, because a diver was needed to go underwater and fix the submerged pump. Although this was the consequence of a natural disaster, we still offered you one night refund, which would allow us to bring a diver in and fix the pump. We informed your party of this at 10 AM and we gave you until 4PM to leave the house, but you did not chose to take this option and decided to stay on knowing that there was no way that water supply could be restored to the house. you should have mentioned that was the only night that you used buckets and bottled water. For the record, since your departure, we have had 3 separate parties of guests, and there have been no water pressure issues, since the filtration system is not being abused. On top of everything mentioned above, you offered us a great review should we refund you part of your stay and threatened us with reporting code violations, which is extortion. In the end, in spite of all the above mentioned violations, we only chose to fine for the pet policy violation, and did not evict you, trying to be considerate of your family reunion and understanding of all the efforts it takes to organize a family get together.
