Located in Woods Bay and just a straightforward 2-hour drive from Toronto, this waterfront haven is the perfect retreat for a small family seeking beauty, comfort, and peace.

Our spectacular one-acre property offers the best of Georgian Bay:

Deanna’s place is beautiful and immaculate! So cozy and beautiful sunsets! Her kitchen is packed with everything you could need which makes cooking a breeze. We enjoyed the hot tub and amazing walk in shower was such a treat! She was a great host and communicated with us whenever necessary. We can’t wait to go back! Thank you for having us!!

Great stay

My husband and I rented this cottage for our honeymoon. The pictures do not do this place justice. It is gorgeous and has more than enough room for you and some friends or family. Beautiful views of the water. Being able to get out on the water in the canoe was a nice touch. The host is also very responsive should you need anything or have any questions.

Just finished a 2 week stay at Sunset Heights. We were celebrating a milestone anniversary with family from BC and Alberta. It was nice to show off our Ontario treasures! Had wonderful vacation set up by the great cottage. The well appointed kitchen was absolutely perfect….a dream for anyone cooking. The lake views from every window were amazing- from sunrise to sunset.Check in was easy and timely.Great trip!

Shirt but sweet

We were only able to take a short period of time off but the cottage was the perfect place to be. The house and amenities was all we needed and they have the most amazing dock which is where all of our time was spent. Beautiful place for the family.

The perfect family cottage

If you are lucky enough to be able to book this cottage, you will not be disappointed. The cottage is very well appointed, well maintained and well stocked. They have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable. Water was lovely and there are lots of water craft to choose from.

Beautiful Cottage

The house is absolutely beautiful. They have everything you need to feel comfortable while being away from home. The water was a little too weedy and mucky for our little ones.

Phenomenal

Beautiful and wonderful cottage with a dream kitchen! Hosts were so lovely and easy to work with, answering questions so quickly! There was not a thing missing in the cottage and the lake was beautiful for swimming!

Nicer than the pictures

The house is beautiful and much nicer than the pictures. As mentioned in other comments they are close to a marina but the noise was still at a minimum. The property managers were very quick at responding to all my questions and there were plenty lol. My friends and I really enjoyed our stay.

Lovely family cottage!!

This was a lovely weekend for our family! The cottage was perfect on the inside, beautifully built! Had a lovely view and perfect access to the water! The owners were very helpful and replied quickly if needed. The cottage was stocked with everything necessary. It was right near the marina so we were able to launch our boat and keep it at the dock! The fire pit and hot tub were a perfect addition to our stay! Highly recommend this cottage, it was a wonderful weekend!!

Sunset Heights in August 2024

The location was beautiful and the view spectacular, especially in the evening light. The property was spacious, practical and nicely decorated and the maps on the wall were very useful to us. The canoe was old and not really usable but Deanna arranged for two canoes and an additional kayak to be delivered promptly, which was quite impressive and allowed us to canoe to Moon Falls. Overall, this was an amazing and memorable stay!!

Wonderful Waterfront Property

Sunset Heights was a wonderful waterfront property. The picture in the listing are entirely accurate. As seasoned VRBO users, we can always tell when we're at someone's personal property given the thoughtful touches (vs a barren hotel) and this property was full of them. Great getaway place for relaxing

Our family stayed at Sunset Heights from August 18th - August 31st. This place is fantastic, and the renters are great people. We've been going to the Woods Bay area for about 40 years and know several people in the area. It's a magical place for anyone that loves nature and the outdoors. We have so many great memories from this trip. Caught several fish, had two shore lunches and fish fries, boated everywhere, went swimming a lot, got to sit on the dock while the super blue moon was out and had bonfires every night. I would highly recommend this place but then again, I would also like to keep it to myself.

Nice beautiful lake front property with dock, fire pit and lots of amenities

We have enjoyed our time here and away from our daily routine. The waterfront is amazing and the property is beautiful, having all the conveniences without the rush. The Lake, the firepit, the porch/deck and spacious inside were definitely enjoyed by our party. The cottage was a great size for our family and had plenty of activities to keep yourself busy for those rainy days. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of dishes, pans, utensils etc. The hosts were readily accessible when needed with great communication. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our water time/campfires/deck and time with family and will look to be back soon.

Great home for entertaining. Only complaint is lack of water sport items available in great condition. Paddle boat is old and very noisy. Could use some stand up boards and extra kayaks. Marina is visible so takes away from scenery view on the left not shown in pictures. Water area for swimming is a bit slimey and weedy. Swam off dock so not too bad.

Thank you Lorelei for your review. We do have plans to update the water sport equipment over the next couple of seasons or when there is room in the maintenance budget to allow it. As for the beach area, we only own to the waters edge and do our best to keep it as clean as we can without disturbing the aquatic life too much. A gem in Woods Bay

We stayed for 3 nights in July. There were five of us, four adult and one child. The place was spacious, clean and well equipped with everything you need, just like staying home! Everything worked without any issue. The large floor to ceiling window allowed an unobstructed view of the lake and a gorgeous view of sunset. We had a great time, fishing, kayaking, watching netflix, sitting around a campfire, and generally relaxing. The only downside was remoteness. The nearest town was Mactier, which was almost 30 minutes away with little to do. While for some, this could be a positive, we would have liked to have access to restaurants and other recreational activities. Overall, I recommend it highly.

Sunset Heights

One of the best cottages we have had the pleasure vacationing in. Perfectly laid out open concept cottage with all the amenities one could desire. I wouldn’t change a thing and whoever built or designed the cottage, nailed it. Beautiful spacious master bedroom with large walk in closet area and separate water closet. Both bedrooms walk out to a deck with lake views. Massive tiered wrap around decks with amazing views and multiple sitting areas. Fully stocked kitchen with 3 refrigerators (vary in size) to store all your goods. Great swimming off the dock and enjoyed seeing the boats enter/exit the marina. Saw some complaints in the reviews in regards to proximity of marina but had no issues. The boats entered and exit slowly and traffic wasn’t heavy. It’s also a fair distance away and did not impact swimming at all. Absolutely stunning inside and out. We will be back.

A gorgeous cottage with two issues for me

The cottage is stunning. New construction, well laid out, the perfect cottage with tons of decks and gorgeous views from inside the cottage and bedrooms too! My two concerns are minor and major. I love the Georgian Bay and have been a regular for 45 years. One of my favorite activities is swimming in the deep clear waters. The depth of water at the end of the dock is rough 5’. Not deep enough to dive at 6’3! I was expecting much deeper at the end of the dock. Great if you have small children and want to stand as they swim. The major issue is they the marina is right next door. You can see the docks of the marina right in front of the cottage. Like all marinas, the boats pull pull out in a hurry and slow to create big wakes. The boats are 50 feet from the edge of the dock I was always nervous as we swam out to deeper water to swim and close to the boat traffic. I wouldn’t want my nieces and nephews to do that. I am sorry but need to be honest because we cottage to swim and there are concerns. Just be aware.

edge of Massasauga Provincial Park

Nice, close to Marina. Great when you bring a boat or sea-doo you can explore Massasauge park, fantastic for some beautiful hikes only accessible by water. Nice big outdoor space around cottage, enough room for kids and adults.
