Amazing setting

We spent four days at this property in early February and loved our time. We saw whales throughout the day while sitting on the lanai, the unit is spacious and clean, and the host was readily available. This was a great property and we would definitely stay again.

Location, location, location!!!

The location of this property cannot be beat, as it's situated on a bluff in beautiful Princeville -- a gorgeous, safe, walkable neighborhood on the North Shore -- within a short jaunt down to the beach and the 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay. It is priceless having that high-caliber, luxury hotel so close, as it's easy to walk to for drinks, dinner, or watch the sunset.The property itself was just as described, though it is definitely dated and needs a good refresh. The rugs were tattered and some of the furniture needs either re-upholstering or replacing. The beds were comfortable, though we needed extra sheets and blankets, which were locked away and not accessible. The jalousie window in the primary bedroom was broken and could not be closed, which allowed for the humidity to soak into the condo. The property manager said she would have the owner look in to fixing it. We just covered it with pillows as best we could. There were beach chairs, which were nice to have, but they are old and flimsy and could use replacing. It's a nice layout and the views are incredible. Easy to park right in front of the building. Overall, it's a very nice property with great potential to be incredible with a refresh.

This place is top shelf!! Amazing ambience at night, breathtaking ocean views from the bedroom, sunroom, living roof, kitchen and deck!! The owner was accommodation our last minute changes!! We had other family meet here on the island and they were sooo jealous when they came and saw how nice our place was 😂

Paradise in Puu Poa

We’ve stayed at Puu Poa every time we visit Kauai because we love the location. The ocean views are spectacular, Hideaways Beach is right below the complex and it’s next to 1 Hotel (formerly St. Regis) and Hanalei Bay. The units themselves though can be a bit outdated and some don’t have A/C. NOT the case with this Unit. The owners completely renovated it with lovely high end finishes. The lanai was converted into an enclosed sitting area with huge windows overlooking the ocean that opened up to allow in ocean breezes. They had plenty of fins available which saved us renting since we had brought our own masks/snorkel. The terrace was perfect with a Weber bbq. Unfortunately the dishwasher was broken prior to our arrival so we had to wash our own dishes. It was a concern since we had other family staying on the island and we hosted some dinners. The owner did address our concerns though and tried to make it right.

Spring break

We traveled with our 22 year old son and his girlfriend. This location is perfect! Close walk to the beach. Cocktails either on your outdoor space or at the 1 Hotel for sunset. We were lucky enough to have whales breaching almost every day and perfect rainbows almost every morning. Loved our week away!

This condo was fabulous. Every morning we saw whales and spinner dolphins. With Kauais penchant for rain we witnessed many rainbows. The sunsets were magnificent. The condo was spacious and nicely appointed. I would come back again!

Originally from Philadelphia. Lived in Hawaii since 1974. My wife Rosaline and I have been married for 30 years and going. We live in Honolulu. Puu Poa is our getaway second home. I was an entrepreneur owned multiple companies, with my wife who served as the Controller/CFO. Currently, I serve as a lobbyist for a national real estate property management company for Hawaii, besides being an instructor for real estate continued education for realtors, expert witness for lawsuits, and US subchapter 5 bankruptcy trustee. In 2022, I was appointed by the then Hawaii governor Ige to serve as one of the Real Estate Commissioners for the State of Hawaii, a 3-year term.

I fell in love with Puu Poa while vacationing on Kauai in 1980s. Eventually decided to acquire the unit in 1990. The place offers unobstructed breath taking ocean views in front of your eyes, the playground of marine mammals, sounds of crashing waves, lightning shows in the stormy night and meteor showers in the summer night.
