This victorian style home is located at the heart of Jim Thorpe, neighboring the Asa Packer Mansion and the Harry Packer Mansion. Only half a block from the town train station which offers scenic rides in between the mountains. The apartment has a direct view of the surrounding mountains and the Lehigh river and is located at the entrance of the switchback Trail. It has plenty of parking space and direct access to this beautiful trail leading to the Mauch Chunk Lake Park.
Great location close to town. Short, but very steep walk or quick car ride into town. Large kitchen and TV equipped with Netflix which we used for games. The 3rd floor bedroom is up a very narrow staircase with a bathroom in the same attic space, separated by a divider. Fine for a couple, but no real privacy if using the bathroom. And the 2 platform beds in adjoining room are on a tall platform which is super high. The other 3 queen bedrooms were great. And the other adjoining bedroom with a trundle bed is fine for a child. The house worked well for our extended family get together.
Place was fine for our visit. Place was clean host was nice. It is much farther into town than described. Good 15-20 down a very steep hill and horrible walk back up the hill. No UBER service
Great location for experienced walkers: plenty of beds clean linens. Could use a wall for the bathroom/shower and n 3rd floor. Awkward to have sleeping for 6 people there but 0 bathroom privacy as it is literally in the room with the beds. Stove could stand to be replaced but it is usable, corn chips under sofa and coffee table (we didnât have those) found when we dropped a dice. All in all we will stay again as it met our needs, was fairly clean, host was easy contact, and it wasnât a really a nice place. Hoping for nicer weather so we can sit out and use firepit
The place was wonderful! Comfortable, clean, lots of character, and convenient to downtown Jim Thorpe. The host was very responsive to questions before our visit. Great stay in a great town!
Great location, great home for a larger group. Reccomend highly. Perfect location to get into the center of town and plan your time there. Also appreciated the story shared by the family. It was very sentimental to feel included into the house's history.
Great location for staying in Jim Thorpe. It is almost three hours out of New York City. If your there with anyone other than your immediate family there is only two bathrooms for bathing. One on the second floor and one on the third floor. The one on the third floor is up a very narrow staircase (not good for older folks or individuals with disabilities. Also, since it is on the third floor in a beautiful room the bathroom is open with no doors. There is an additional room on the third floor for children not adults. On the second floor that really only has 3 excellent bedrooms, there is another very small room really for children. One last thing to mention, many of the neighbors alerted us to the bears in the area and to make sure we did not leave garbage outside. We did go downtown and take a train ride, trolly car, experience all that the town square had to offer. You should buy your tickets early as well as if you are driving get there at least one hour before to find parking. We went on a Saturday and it was really crowded. Overall, the weekend stay was great and I would recommend Josephine's house to anyone visiting Jim Thorpe.
Check in was easy. Communication with the owner was very good. The house was perfect for our group of 8 adults who came to Jim Thorpe for biking adventures.
We absolutely loved our stay here! The property and the house are very beautiful with lots of thoughtful amenities. The location is wonderful and in easy walking distance to downtown as long as youâre okay with walking up/down the hill which was no problem for us! Would absolutely stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay at this homey, clean and interesting house. The description on the VRBO site was complete and accurate. Loved the classic woodwork in this home. Close to center of town but we are all senior citizens so drove rather than walk the hills, but it is close enough to walk if you don't mind walking uphill to return. Also appreciated the off-street parking.
