Charming Private Mission Bay Studio 2

Summary:

This quaint studio is the perfect launching point for your visit to San Diego. We just completely updated the unit with vinyl floors, marble counters, mini-split AC and heat, a brand new meal prep counter with a hot plate, microwave, toaster and K-Cup coffee maker. We also added a fabulously comfy queen Murphy bed and the most amazing rainfall showerhead in a large walk in shower.!



The Space:

Cozy but well proportioned and set up. We have maximized the use of long marble counters that serve for food/kitchen prep but also as dining and work space. Murphy bed can be stored for more room during the day. Several chair combinations to relax, work and eat. Smart TV with YouTube TV and access to all your own accounts.



Guest Access:

This is a private, separate space in our home. We are just a phone call or doorbell ring away if you need anything!



The Neighborhood:

Bay Park is one of the best neighborhoods in San Diego. Central and easy to get to the freeway, less than 15 minutes to La Jolla, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach, Ocean Beach, the Zoo, Balboa Park, the Gaslamp, and Petco Park. Great restaurants, bars and cafes are within a short walking distance. You can easily ride to and around the bay and get to the beach.



Getting Around:

We always recommend a car to get around San Diego, but we are a just quick 5-10 minute walk to the Clairemont Dr. trolley station if you wish to use transit during your visit and Uber/Lyft are also very convenient in San Diego. Street parking is readily available and free just around the corner from this unit.



Other Things to Note:

If you wish to bring a pet, please note that there will be an additional $150 pet fee that is due at booking and we don't allow cats in this property. There is construction going on next door and possible construction noise can be heard. Please contact host for any questions.



Beach Equipment: despite the inclusion of snorkeling gear, we do not offer it at our rentals



Interaction with Guests:

We live onsite and love hosting. We are around should you need anything and out of your hair otherwise. In addition to being the on-site host I have been a Superhost for over 10 years and manage a portfolio of over 60 units. Check-in is virtual, as you'll be provided with a digital Guest Portal and a personalized door code. Vacation Rentals by Aaron is a full-service property management company, and will be available 24-7 in case you need anything during your stay.

Great centralized location of San Diego! Near I-5 and I-8 to get anywhere you need and beautiful views surrounding the property. Everything we needed for two people was on site and made our stay enjoyable. Would recommend to anyone!

It met our short stay needs.

The property was perfect for our short three day stay. Weather when we arrived was fairly hot and it was great to have air conditioning as well as a ceiling fan. It had all the appliances one would need for cooking and a fridge and a coffee maker. We used non of the appliances.

Stayed a week at Charming Mission Bay Studio 2 and it met all my expectations. Very clean, neat, everything I needed and convenient location to downtown, the Bay, and the highway. Aaron was very responsive and communicated proactively so it was a good experience.

The unit is on the small side. But it has all the necessities for a short term trip. The bed was comfortable. The location was was great for Fiesta Island, Crown Point Park, San Diego Zoo. Several local restaurants nearby. Prompt communication.

Cramped and dirty

Unfortunately, this property didn’t reflect the pictures. The corners and baseboards were dirty and grungy, and the corners in the bathroom appeared moldy or mildewy. The white sheets had dark stains on them.The property is also adjoining the owner’s main house. The walls seemed thin, and we could hear footsteps and people talking during our stay. It felt like we didn’t really have any privacy.I wish we skipped this rental and opted for a hotel instead.

Caitlin. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We sincerely apologize that your stay did not meet your expectations or the standards we aim to provide for our guests. We immediately went in and had our cleaner address the baseboards and our handyman address the caulking in the shower (note that in San Diego we have very hard water and it turns the caulk from clear to grey but it is not mold). Regardless it has been addressed. I have also touched base with my cleaner regarding the sheets that were used (that issue was exacerbated by an emergency causing us to have to use a 3rd party and not our normal cleaner) but we have addressed the matter with the backup cleaner. As for the noise, you were in residence over the holiday and the onsite host (who does live upstairs) had an unusual amount of visitors from out of town. They will do a better job with making them aware of the units and noise in the future. We have never heard that the pics don't look like the unit (since it is a studio it is kind of hard to understand this complaint but we reviewed the photos and they are indicative of the space. Perfect for a quick San Diego trip

This studio was exactly as pictured in the listing. It has the amenities you need for your stay and is very clean. The property manager communicated very clearly and was very accommodating. We planned this trip for a quick getaway from the AZ heat with our dog and it did not disappoint. Although the room itself is fairly small, it had everything we needed to cook breakfast each morning to hit the beaches for the remainder of the day. Although there is currently construction nearby, we were able to get the same street parking spot right outside the location. Would definitely stay again!

Short visit

The place was OK for me. There is construction going on with the place next door. You get woken up by that or the dog. Bed is comfortable, the chairs need new cushions. But hey, I’m in San Diego why would I hang out at the room? Overall I was happy and not a lot to complain about.

Smaller than it looks

The studio is smaller than it looks in the listing. The Murphy bed sits very low and hard to get in & out of it. The mattress is not comfortable. There are no comfortable chairs. On the other hand the location is great, the place was very clean and stocked well. A bottle of wine and coffee pods were a pleasant surprise. Best of all is that our dog was allowed to enjoy the awesome weather with us.

Jose, so glad you enjoyed the location and the amenities! We do include a specific instruction in our check-in details that indicate how you should set up the bed. It sounds like what you did was you failed to put the brace on the floor, in which case the bed will actually sag to the outside (which is probably what led it to be uncomfortable because I have slept on that bed and we've had rave reviews from other guests so that has never been a problem). I think the same thing goes with the IKEA chairs that are in that unit for seating...most people really enjoy those chairs and they're very functional as dining room and living room chairs. As with anything in San Diego small is always going to rule the day, but most guests find that this unit serves their purpose for a central location where you can do meal prep and get anywhere in the city within 20 minutes. A small place for a great location

The neighborhood is gorgeous, nice, and quiet. Location is somewhat central, so is it not far from major attractions and areas in San Diego such as Downtown, Pacific Beach, Old Town, or Balboa Park. The place is definitely small, smaller than expected, and it can take some getting used to. But it is enough if you only spend a few nights and expect to be out most of the time. Checking in and finding the property is really easy. The place was overall clean, except for some dirty hand towels and some hair in the bathroom. The walls are really thin (though that seems to be the case for a lot of SD's houses), so you'll hear the upstairs residents a lot, the conversations they have, or when they step on the floor. The dog will hear you as well too. Overall for a San Diego rental is a decent place to stay for just a few nights for one person or a couple. Would not recommend for parties of 3 or more.

This property was pretty clean, but could be better. It was found that the window was damaged and unable to be secured. I communicated with the owner and they fixed the window but then left the apartment unsecured. The downfall of this property is that it’s underneath the owner with has children and there is no insulation between the two properties. I was woken up several times due to screaming and loud stomping sounds from above. The parking was street parking and was a block away at times.
