Cairn Cottage on Lake Superior's North Shore!

Welcome to Cairn Cottage. This beautiful, entirely tasteful and comfortable Lake Superior home sits right on the shore of Lake Superior. Quiet, private and easy to get to the water's edge and enjoy what you came for...the sounds and sight of the water and waves. We can't say enough about how well-appointed this home is and our guests can't say enough about it either! The two spacious bedrooms both have lake views, cozy & comfortable beds/bedding and they each have a 3/4 bath right next to them. One main floor bedroom and one upper level bedroom plus the loft. The upper level loft accommodates two guests comfortably on the plush twin beds. Did I mention that there are Lake Superior views from practically everywhere inside this gorgeous place!?

I can’t recommend Cairn Cottage enough! It fit 6 adults perfectly and made for a great home base for a Lutsen skiing trip. The distance between Lutsen and Grand Marais is perfect to make the most of the trip too. Well found the cottage to be super cozy and easy to navigate. It was clean, organized, and very welcoming. We hope to return soon!

The Cairn Cottage is absolutely lovely - a real gem! Well-appointed, clean, comfy. More than that, there is an overall feeling of peace and relaxation as well as hygge. The host left clear instructions about the property, and communication was excellent.

Gorgeous Cottage right on the lake! It's even more beautiful in person. Waking up to the sunrise every morning was a gift, as was falling asleep to the waves of Superior.

Absolutely beautiful cabin and setting. Great decks, nice fire pit by the water, easy access to the beach. Close to Grand Marais and Lutsen. Could it ask for anything better. Gorgeous sunrises right from the deck or front room.

peaceful stay

Very much enjoyed our stay at Carin Cottage. It was a chilly 4th of July (55 in AM and water 44 degrees). Enjoyed walking along the shoreline, having a campfire and exploring parks and shops to the North. Close to parks and shops with privacy at the adorable and pristine cottage. Wonderful views of the lake from every window.

Outstanding views on the lake

Well appointed, very clean cottage! This is our 2nd time staying and it just keeps getting better. Comfortable beds and furniture. The BEST views, right on the lake. Listen to the waves crashing and when it’s calm watch boats go by. Many outdoor spaces to relax, visit, and have a cup of coffee. I cannot wait to come back.

Ski vacation

5 people, 4 skiers and one who loves some alone time. Close to the ski hill, the short drive to Lutsen is worth the amazing view, hearing the waves all night, and comfy living. Great communication and loved the gift of pancake mix and syrup! Perfect for 2 couples and one teen. Only bad thing was the book and game selection was so good I didn't get to any of the projects I brought along!

Always lovely

This is our third time staying at this cabin. We always enjoy the proximity of the lake and the short drive to Lutsen. The cabin is always clean and cozy. Only issue is the fireplace that wouldn’t stay on for more than 10-15 mins and then wouldn’t turn back on for hours, which was a bummer after a chilly day on the hill.

Cairn cottage

The cottage was very nice and clean with everything we needed. The fireplace didn’t work properly and the kitchen cabinets need a little repair. We did have a great stay and would stay here again.

Charming cottage on the big lake

Beautiful setting right on Lake Superior. Very convenient to nearby parks, hiking and Lutesn and Grand Marais. Lots of outdoor spaces to enjoy the lake. Very quiet!
