WELCOME to The Great Escape River Retreat is a beautiful 4 bedroom 3 bath, 3 story full log home right on the Coosawattee River and offers: fireplace, TV's with access to Hulu+ Live TV and Roku for streaming, hot tub, indoor sauna, fire-pit, Ping-Pong table, screened porch, WIFI
The Main floor has 1 bedroom, 1 bath. Bedroom has a Queen bed, TV and porch access.
Upstairs master suite has a pillow top king bed, TV, Private bathroom, walk in closet and private porch.
The spacious loft has a ping pong table, bean bag seating and board games for the family.
The patio level has the third full bathroom with sauna, family room space leading to ground level patio with hot tub and TV with DVD player that is BluRay and WIFI compatible.
Also, 2 more bedrooms are found on this level, the first has a queen bed and TV, the second has bunkbeds full over full and a TV (Bear Cub Den)
Take a beautiful drive up river and drop your tubes in and have a relaxing 2 hour float down to the back yard!
Hike the Ellijay and Blue Ridge mountain trails, try your hand at fly fishing, then in the evening watch the river flow by, or cuddle up next to the fireplace and watch an old movie on your large screen TV. Maybe sleep in late on the King Size upstairs master bed and have coffee on your private covered porch. The Great Escape River Retreat is a perfect getaway for up to eight people. We encourage you to protect your vacation investment with a travel insurance of your choice.
Coosawattee River Resort offers for free: 5 river parks for fishing with no license needed, suspension bridge and camp sites.

Wonderful cabin!

We stayed with extended family in this cabin and it was even better than described! We loved the hot tub, fire pits and daily deer visits. Thank you for a wonderful stay, we can’t wait to come back!

We had an amazing time staying here. The cabin was beautiful and had everything we needed. All of the beds were comfortable. The deer roam all throughout the neighborhood and I even got one to take some apple from my hand. We enjoyed taking a cold plunge in the river and then warming up in the sauna. There is a hot tub, but we did not get around to using it. We hope to come back to stay when the water is a little warmer so we can go tubing in the river. Eva is very responsive to any texts sent.

Family vacation

It was fairly clean and loved the way the cabin was right by the river. Had loads of fun playing games, ping pong and tubing the river. Enjoyed the deer, the meals we had and just being together.

One of the best cabin

The Cabin is beautiful, it had everything we needed, we had great time. Sauna and hot tub outside were great additions. Community indoor pool and other amenities also were great to have. Host is amazing, fast responses and helpful. We will definitely rent again this place for summer or winter vacation. Thank you

We loved the property- the location was perfect. And the added thrill of all the deer was amazing. Eva was so nice and accommodating about everything. Very quick to respond to any questions. We would like to please request a refund for the one river tube which had a leak and unable to use. Perfect Family Location

This cabin was perfect for our group. Plenty of room for everyone, and fully stocked. We stay around Elijah and Blue Ridge twice a year. Several things put this cabin to the top of our list. But the location was #1. Right on the river with easy access to get in and enjoy the water, fishing was great here also. Tube dropoff was a 6 min drive. Highly recommend this cabin if you plan to stay in the Ellijay area. The host also very responsive and helpful.

Best R&R Spring Break

The cabin was amazing. Everything was perfect and our 2024 Spring break was wonderful. On the river with deer at our front door daily. Layout worked great for our party of 6 and we truly enjoyed our stay. The sauna, and fire pits, and swings/hammock let us unwind in nature with the sounds of the river and wildlife all around. It was cooler over the weekend and the hot tub didn't heat up to enjoy. We would definitely stay here again. The host Eva was a communication expert. 5 Stars. Thank you for allowing us to stay and make some new family memories together.

Great time with family and friends

We had a fabulous time! The River out back was stunning and all the touches made the stay enjoyable and stress free. It was a quick drive to drop tubes and all my kids and myself loved taking a trip down the river each day. We enjoyed downtown Ellijay as well. We thought we would use the recreation facilities more but just used one day. There were a ton of deer and it was so great having them greet us in the morning! The fire pits, hot tub, ping pong and games were a perfect touch and helped make our stay even more enjoyable. Every detail was thought through. Very clean! Thank you for a great stay!

We recently stayed at this cabin over Thanksgiving and overall, it was a really good experience.First off, the cabin itself was lovely—very clean, and the hosts were super responsive whenever we messaged them! They even helped us with a delivery and offered some nice add-ons like delivering firewood, which we really appreciated. The house was spacious and fairly well-equipped. There were not lot of extra towels or things like paper products, cleaning supplies, wtc. So if you’re staying for a longer visit or have a larger group (like we did), definitely bring some extras along.There were a couple of amenities we were excited about that just weren’t working during our stay. The hot tub was unfortunately cold and not usable, and the main fireplace didn’t have gas, so we couldn’t use that either. We discovered these issues on Thanksgiving Day, and of course, we didn’t expect the owners to fix them on a holiday. It’s just worth noting that those things didn’t work. Still, the hosts were great otherwise, and everything else was pretty much as advertised.The beds were comfortable, the fire pit was lovely, and the river view was absolutely beautiful. One heads-up: the driveway is pretty steep, so if you don’t have a truck or four-wheel drive, just be prepared for that.

AMAZING

Where to start. The property is amazing. What you see is what you get. It is very clean and well kept. The hose was very responsive to any questions we had. We booked for 6 nights but ended uo staying an extra night because it was great. The water is great. You will see 20 30 deer every single day. We will definitely be staying againg in the summer and we also want to come back around Christmas time. If you're hesitating don't. Its worth every cent. Thank you for the memories.

Amazing Vacation on the River

We had an excellent time at The Great Escape. First off - the pictures on VRBO do not do this cabin justice. We were greeted by 5 deer in the front yard when we arrived. The drive with GPA was spot on. Roads are easy-peasy! Upstairs hosts the master suite with a king bed + bathroom + private balcony and a loft with Ping-Pong table - great for kids. Both the upstairs king and downstairs queens have the dreamiest mattresses - no lumps in these! Cabin was super clean and well stocked. The welcome basket was a real treat for the family. We loved the super simple click and light gas fireplace indoors and utilized the outdoor fire pit for smores. The kids loved the basement playroom with foosball and great big TV! The hot tub and private sauna is AMAZING with the cold weather. Guest spa robes were a bonus! The sound of the river all day and night was sooo relaxing. We put our feet in the water, it was COLD! We are looking forward to rebooking in the summer to tube down the river! Host communication was easy and quick. Our family highly recommends booking this treasure for great family memories!

Wonderful experience!

This was a “Great Escape” for 2 families in a gorgeous cabin. We’ve stayed in many, many, rental houses, but never one as well stocked and set up as this. The beds were very comfortable with nice sheets and pillows, the bathrooms were huge with big fluffy towels and there were even some robes for the hot tub. The teenagers didn’t hesitate to try out the hammock and jump in the river. Everyone enjoyed the hot tub and swings, and we were even able to get a fire started in the spacious fire pit and make s’mores. Plenty of games and toys for the kids, gas in the grill, owners offering wood for the fire was a great convenience, spices for cooking...it was just incredible. The quiet road was great for walks. Just a great house, and a great trip. If you are considering multiple properties- GO with this one! You will not be disappointed. There was not one thing we could have wanted differently. The location, the property, the RIVER, the cabin, everything. Book this property and you will be so thankful! The owners Kurt & Eva were quick to reply to questions we had during our stay. We saw so many deer driving in and out of the community and along the river. We will book this place again!

The best family getaway

The Great Escape was just that! The ultimate getaway. Looking forward to our winter trip here and booking directly with Eva. She was the most attentive host we’ve experienced. There was plenty of room for our group of adults and littles. Cabin was very clean and well kept up. Best parts were the screened in porch and the swings right at the river! The pictures of these sold us on this rental and we were not disappointed. We enjoyed all of our mornings listening to the river while drinking coffee and cooking breakfast with the grill on the porch. It was very nice to sit out at night and not have to worry about the bugs. The kids loved the river! We put tubes in and cooled off every day while the kids tried to net small fish and looked for the best rocks. It was deep enough to enjoy but shallow enough that we felt safe with the kids exploring in it. (about mid calf deep and not too fast) The loft game room was also a kid favorite, they tried their hands at ping pong most days. Kitchen was fully stocked with cooking supplies. Closest grocery was about 20 min drive. The drive to get to the cabin from the main road is all paved along with the driveway. We saw tons deer EVERYWHERE! I strongly recommend getting deer corn!! Blue Ridge, Amicolola Falls, Dalonegha, and Downtown Ellijay are all within driving distance.
