Enjoy your stay in Columbia in this cozy guest house overlooking Cary Lake! It is centrally located in Arcadia Lakes, 10 minutes from downtown, USC, and Fort Jackson. You’ll be close to everything in the capital, but far enough to enjoy a relaxing trip. Awake refreshed and ready for a day exploring the city via this clean, sunshine filled home with an impressive view. Cook in your own kitchen, clean up in the remodeled bathroom, and sink into the soft bed after seeing the city.

We had an amazing stay on the lake. The house is cute, relaxing, and quiet. Check-in and out were simple.Suggestions for improvement: better marked house number on the street as the directions provided in the check-in email were not helpful at night; fix the front porch light; lighting on guest driveway.

Although this house is located within easy distance to the base and town, there are a few things that need to be addressed. The normal kitchen provisions are seriously sparse, the silverware drawer is littered with debris and random takeout sauces strewn around, there are few dishes and the dishwasher doesn’t work. The bathroom walls have some mold on them and the exhaust fan doesn’t work and looks like it was installed by a finger painter! The dock is unsafe so fishing in the lake is not possible. The railing from the screened in porch down is unsafe. I would hate to hear of anyone falling down the stairs. The beds are comfortable and the linens clean. The couch is comfortable but unfortunately we could not figure out the TV’s login. The view of the lake was calming and relaxing after long days at graduation.

Nice guest house

This guest house on the lake is very pretty. It’s bigger than you think when you first pull into the drive. Finding it was a little difficult. You have to pull into the main driveway and go around the back through the gates to the guest house. The house was clean and very spacious. The two bedrooms were very large and I had a large bathroom with a walk-in shower that was beautiful. Everything we needed was already in the cabin and they also had some soaps and shampoos that were left over from previous guests just in case somebody forgot something. Communication with the host was very quick and they were very responsive and even answered some questions about local pizzerias the screened in porch was very nice for us to sit out and enjoy in the morning and the evening looking over the lake.

Peaceful and Secluded

This was the perfect property for our short stay. Comfortable and relaxing, we enjoyed the views, the large shower and the quiet seclusion.

Really enjoyed the home. I thought i was going to be able to fish the pond. But the deck was missing boards and not safe to walk on. The lake was the main reason i rented this location. Was very disappointed.

It was the perfect little get away. We were in town for my daughter’s army graduation. After the stress and chaos of the day, we were able to relax and watch geese on the lake and fireflies in the back yard. The best park was the shower. I’ll miss that shower!

Army Graduation

We enjoyed looking at the lake every chance we could ( we are water people ). Although we arrived much later than we had expected. While I went to my son’s graduation at fort Jackson, my husband and mother in law stayed until I was able to return. I feel their only thing was not being able to watch local news. My time Wednesday and Thursday was all about my son. Very close to where I needed to be at 7:30am.

Wonderful stay

The stay was nice. Two nice bedrooms with comfortable Californian king beds. The Shower was huge, love the rainfall style shower. Very clean, my stay was at the beginning of spring so the pollen was very high and covered my car. A little landscaping around the house would make the place perfect, but I would definitely recommend and return.

Visit to a grandson.

This is a very comfortable house with a great view. A rustic cottage in the middle of the city. It was very close to my son's house. Amenities were available but a few miles away. I'd stay there again.

Fort Jackson graduation stay

We wanted a restful place close to Fort Jackson for my son's graduation and this was perfect. It was at most 15 minutes away and a perfect place to come back to with our other adult son to relax after busy days. Our hosts gave us our space but were easily accessible.

Peaceful retreat!

Peaceful back porch overlooking the lake. Enjoyed watching the turtles and water birds and listening to squirrels forage in the wooded area around the house. Bed was very comfortable and even inclines if you need it. Bathroom shower is enormous and luxurious! And the sofa.... I wanted to bring it home with me! Absolutely huge and comfy and perfect for vegging out. I did take a star off for cleanliness, but not bc it necessarily felt dirty. The floors were clean, surfaces, bathroom, etc. But it does need a good deep cleaning around baseboards, walls, windows, back porch chair cushions, etc. Owners brought flowers and beverages bc it was our anniversary trip. I would definitely book again. It's a gem!

Perfect place to stay for Fort Jackson Family Day/Graduation

My kids and I stayed here for about 5 days for my daughter’s family day and graduation from BCT. The location is great - so close to Gate 2. Easy to drive around and find all amenities we needed. The house was great for us - beds super comfy, great shower and lovely view of the lake. Thank you for having us!

Adorable cabin by the lake

What a perfect location to stay for us to attend my son graduating basic training at Ft. Jackson. A great feel by the lake, had all the amenities! Thank you!! Met all my expectations.

Vacation

Upon arriving bing the outside of the house looked a little run down. There are vines growing on it and some cover parts of the windows. The inside of the house is pretty nice. Beautiful hardwood floors. I have stayed in many air b and b’s. This one was not at the same standard as others. The kitchen had bear minimum utensils, the frying pan and other pots and pans looked like they were from the 1980’s. The frying pan had s scratched and needs replaced. There were no storage containers, no plastic wrap, or aluminum foil. The salt was like a rock. There was 1 towel in the kitchen. I finally found others in a hall closet. Beds were nice and comfortable. Screened in deck was nice but had cob webs all over it. It looked run down also. The lights in the bathroom were taped off and you could not use them. You had to walk clear over to the other side of the bathroom to turn lights on. With some real maintenance and cleaning up and better stocked this could be a really nice place. I don’t think we will be back.

False advertisement/unsafe

The property is under construction not newly renovated as it says in the header. There are nails raised up on the patio and on the railing that created a safety issue. The hot water heater is a half size and it not intended for a 2 bedroom so you only can take a10-15 min shower with 3 heads(only use 1) that drain outside the shower all over the floor. There is mold, yes mold and that causes a safety to your lungs. Roaches. There is water damage all over the place including the kitchen, black on the ceilings. The wooden floor is a trip hazard in the kitchen without even a rug to try to cover it. The chairs at the dining room table are cheaper than what Walmart carries and wobbly to the point my husband fell when sitting down. There is zero acess to the lake as they have extreme over grown vegetation. As you should be able to use the lake per there add @ the time we stayed, we could not. The bedroom towards the front is another safety issue as you have inches to get into the bed next to the wall. The beds do not fit the frames so trip hazard as well as bruising area. Holes in the closets. The door in the kitchen fell onto of my foot while cleaning the dishes so my husband had to repair it himself as the owners had zero contact with us the entire trip. Once they got their money they were done with communication period as even vrbo could not get ahold of them to put us up somewhere else, we had to sleep in the car after finding mold. Theres far more but no more room.

Voici pourquoi l’hĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement

Enjoy staying in our private guest house. Myself, my husband, our three children, and our 2 dogs live on the property, but are committed to providing our guests their privacy. Our dog remains in the main house and only comes out while leashed. He does not go in or near the guesthouse. Relax and find comfort in the park like setting that is our backyard.

Enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning or a glass of wine in the evening on our covered deck. Take in the beautiful water view during your stay. Also, enjoy games with the family and a comfy bed at night that you can adjust to your liking!

There is a lake located at the back of the property, but no one is permitted access at this time. There is a dock and it is the process of being repaired and not useable at this time.
