Serendipity

This home was perfect for my husband and me. It accommodates bicycles, laundry room and has a parking place. It is minutes from trails, restaurants and shopping! The host was very kind and considerate. We extended our stay here! Five star rating!!

Beautiful Bellingham Bay

We loved watching the changing moods of Bellingham Bay. The views from the apartment were wonderful. Also, we thoroughly enjoyed our proximity to Boulevard Park and it’s walking path. It was only a short walk to charming downtown Fairhaven. The nearby trains were a part of this eclectic neighborhood. The apartment was newly remodeled, clean, and comfortable. The manager was very responsive and the neighbors were friendly. We look forward to coming back next year.

Nice but Noisey

Wonderful hostess, unit nicely furnished and as advertised fantastic views of Bellingham Bay. However, unit is located about 150 feet from and overlooking a very busy Railroad Crossing where BNSF and AmTrak cross daily and nightly. BNSF horn blasts are very uncomfortable. The listing failed to mention this unpleasant hazard that starts at 2:15AM and occurs over a dozen times into the late evening. It is unbearable. Hostess was apologetic and we hope she and her neighbors are successful in getting a noise abatement passed so BNSF will cease the ridiculous horn blasts at the crossing. Otherwise this location would get 5 stars in all categories.

7/30/25 Update: No more train horns! The city has passed the "Quiet Zone" ordinance so the conductors no longer blow the train horn when crossing through Fairhaven and Downtown Bellingham. We appreciate your feedback and are SO happy the train horns have been silenced!

Ocean Oasis

We enjoyed our stay. We were able to get used to the trains going by every 2 hours 24/7. It’s not the trains that bother you…it’s the engineer blowing the horn. Sometimes you think his/her ex lives in the neighborhood. Rumor has it the city is going to make the area a quiet zone w/inthe next 12 months…no more horns! The place itself looks bad on the out side, but is a little gem in the interior. The office and wi-fi worked very well for me as I was on a working vacation. It is a prime location and the view is 5 star. The AC is only in the bedroom…if you are there during warm weather, it will be very warm in the afternoon and early evening hours. Sarah was great; she lives on the property and helps when asked. There are stairs…6 stairs to get to the building and another 13 to get to the apt. A little rickety, so be mindful. We stayed for 30+ days and enjoyed ourselves very much.

7/30/25 Update: No more train horns! The city has passed the "Quiet Zone" ordinance so the conductors no longer blow the train horn when crossing through Fairhaven and Downtown Bellingham. We also just finished the updates to the exterior- fresh paint and we replaced the rickety stairs and landing, such an improvement! We also updated the sun shades on the deck for more privacy and to aid in cooling down the apartment in the warm summer months. We appreciated your feedback and are happy to have addressed those concerns for future guests!

Staying at this South Hill was life changing. From the kind and attentive hosts to the breathtaking sunsets, this place exceeded our expectations in every way. Highly recommend experiencing the majesty of the Pacific Northwest from this amazing property.
