Spacious & Airy 1-BR near Eastern Mkt/Capitol

Large (800 sq.ft.) 1BR next to Eastern Market, Barrack’s Row and Eastern Market Metro with direct access to Reagan Nat Airport. Short walk to the US Capitol, Supreme Court, Library of Congress, and some of the best food in the city.

THE SPACE
The one-bedroom sits at the end of a block facing south, which sets it up for maximum sunlight. It includes a fireplace, full kitchen, enormous closet space, a new Queen pull-out sofa, washer/dryer, dishwasher, WIFI, Cable TV with Netflix. Enjoy a cup of coffee first thing every morning with a Nespresso machine and complimentary pods. There are two book shops, a Trader Joes, Bullfrog Bagels and a vintage movie theater around the corner. The washer and dryer allow you to easily do laundry, ideal for both short and long-term stays. It is the perfect spot to explore DC, visit family, work on the Hill, or just walk around the beautiful Capitol Hill neighborhood.

The apartment easily accommodates 4 people (two (2) queen beds: one bed and one sleeper sofa). Please make the reservation for the number who will stay in the apartment to make sure it is properly stocked. The apartment is keyless entry. You will receive the code to access the unit in advance of your arrival.

GUEST ACCESS
The apartment is a 5 min walk to Eastern Market Metro (silver, orange, and blue lines). There is also the DC Circular, a $1 bus that takes you from Eastern Market to many of the sites in the city. Finally, there are many City Bike rentals within a five block radius, and we're happy to lend you some helmets if you like.

PARKING
Street parking passes are available upon request — just ask when booking and we are happy to make the arrangements. There is also a paid parking garage one block away.

Other things to note

The apartment has its own separate entrance. However, unlike some short-term rentals, we actually live upstairs in the building. That means my wife and I can answer your questions or address any issues you might have straight away. We want to make your stay in Washington DC as enjoyable as possible. We love our place and hope you will too.

Best apartment to stay in while visiting DC! Mark and Amy were kind hosts and the apartment was comfortable, clean and had plenty of room for two adults. The kitchen was well stocked and the gas stove was nice. The location was very safe and easily walkable everywhere. (We walked a TON!) Walking to the National Mall and museums was enjoyable and Trader Joe’s was convenient to get groceries. I want to return to DC for another visit and will book here again!

Great place and excellent location on Capitol Hill. Neighborhood is quiet and you can easily walk to lots of restaurants and the Eastern Market metro Station. Two blocks to the weekend craft market as well. Easy walk to the Capital/National Mall - perfect place for an early morning run. Hosts were lovely!

D.C. Visit

We had not been to D.C. for many years. We vistied for about a week. Friends were to be in the city at the same time. The location was perfect for us. Beautiful neighborhood, shops and places to eat within easy walking. Good access to Metro. Apartment was lovely and no issues at all. Owners were easy to contact if needed. Would certainly recommend.

Spring Break March 2025

We had a wonderful experience! Apartment was comfortable and exactly as described. Perfect location to Metro which we took everywhere. We ate in the neighborhood which had lots of options or shopped at the nearby Trader Joes. We felt safe and at ease at all times. The hosts were accommodating and very attentive to our needs as a family. My daughters slept on the pull out couch and had no issues. We all say that we can't wait to go back. Can't imagine staying anywhere else! Thank you for everything....especially your flexibility and sharing of the washer dryer!

Such a Great Location!

We have stayed here several times this year! We keep coming back because it’s such a great location and the apt is so well laid out. There is plenty of space and the kitchen is well equipped. Mark and Amy are very organized with the apt information and are always available if you have any questions. Highly recommend!

Great stay on Capitol Hill

This is our Go To place to stay on Capitol Hill. We have stayed here several times, and don't see any reason to stay anywhere else! The location is awesome, two blocks from Eastern Market and close to the Metro Station. And Mark and Amy are great hosts. We're already booked to stay here again!

Best in Washington

Excellent location, close to metro and buses. Nice neighbourhood. Apartment is a basement, very kind and helpful owners live upstairs. Kitchen with full equipment (we didn’t use), small bathroom but ok. Bed comfortable; enough room for clothes and suitcases in bedroom. Pity that the windows were not clean, full of spider webs (may be ok for halloween!) - would have loved to open but afraid of spiders coming in (even though that there are mosquito nets). Overall a very good place to stay in Washington DC.

Washington DC

This Capitol Hill apartment was the perfect place to explore the Capitol and the neighborhood. The parking pass was sent to us and we were lucky enough to find a space in front of the building. Our hosts made sure everything was ready for our stay and sent a great guidebook to us. The apartment is very nice and well equipped. The bed is comfortable. Awesome Location

This place is in a super great location, near Metro and a Trader Joes. You can walk to the Capitol, if you don't mind a 20 minute walk, or take Metro. It was easy to get to the place from Dulles just getting on the silver line and getting off at Eastern Market. I think we rode on every color of the metro there is in DC. Close to this location is the "8th and I" parade put on by the President'sown Marine Corps Band. If you can get to that, you will be in for a treat. Being in DC over the 4th was fantastic. Mark and Amy, thanks for offering up your space. Accommodations were great.

Perfect home base for kids’ first trip to DC!

Great central location in DC for seeing the sights! Having a kitchen with 2 kids in tow is always a plus, BUT there were so many restaurants, including super cute breakfast spots, within a 5-10 minute walk that we ate out most of the time! The owner (Mark) was in touch throughout the process to ensure we had what we needed upon arrival (including some chocolate pretzels for the kiddos)! Our kids are young enough to share the sofa bed (which they reported back was very comfy with the pillows and comforter) so there was plenty of space for our family of 4! Overall a great place to stay when visiting DC! Would highly recommend!

Excellent DC stay with family

Nice lower level home in a quiet neighborhood. We walked to Capitol Hill and the National Mall museums one day and used Capitol Bike share on another day. Location was great. We ate dinner at a couple restaurants in walking distance and there is a small Trader Joe's nearby so we could get a few items for our stay. Parking was easy on the street near the home. The home was very clean and the owner is nearby and easy to communicate with. Definitely recommend this rental.

Perfect location. Took Metro from DCA airport to Eastern Market and a few block easy walk to the rental. No car is needed. Very clean, perfect for a couple. The owners live upstairs and were very helpful.

Father Daughter Stay

My father was coming to town to help with a renno project we have going on two block's up from this property. I was so glad we found something in our neighborhood that was comfortable, clean, and wonderfully appointed. The owners REALLY care about their space and live on site. The sofa best was west elm which shocked me that they would have something so nice for a rental ! The cleanliness was the best part for us, no dust balls, nothing felt grimy or dusty, very fastidious. The LOCATION!!! Doesn't get better than this folks, take it from a local ;)

Best Location on Capitol Hill!

This is the second time we’ve stayed with Mark and Amy, and we’ll definitely be back soon! This is by far our favorite place to stay on Capitol Hill. The apartment is very clean, the kitchen has everything you need, and the location can’t be beat - close to Eastern Market, the metro, and the Capitol. Highly recommend!

I'm a professor of Political Science Amy grew up in New Jersey learning Bruce Springsteen lyrics and fighting for social and economic justice. I grew up in California, speak fluent German (German politics is what I research), and traveled throughout much of Europe, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. To be clear: we love Bruce Springsteen.

Three things set our apartment apart: first, the location is special. We're located a block from the Eastern Market, a 5 minute walk from Barrack's Row/8th street shopping, 5 minutes from Eastern Market Metro and a 15 minute walk to the US Capital/Supreme Court. You don't need a car when you stay in our place. Second, the apartment is large, clean, comfortable, and sunny. It's ideal for families with kids, grandparents who want to visit family in the area, and those with business in the city. And finally, my wife and I live in the building, own and manage the property, and have traveled a lot our selves. We are not a management company. So if you have a question or concern, we're a knock, a text of phone call away to make sure you have a good experience.
