Amazing 53rd Birthday Getaway
For us this place was amazing! Not to mention our host was just as amazing. The cabin was cozy and had all of the necessities we needed to celebrate my birthday. The host was so quick to respond to any of my emails and also recommended things to do around the area like the Black Oak Casino where my husband won $800 whoo hoo! We will definitely be back again!

Nice spot
We were looking for a moderate elevation spot to acclimate for a couple of days en route to higher country and this was great. The young teens with us enjoyed the home and nearby Pinecrest Lake, host was communicative and provided suggestions for local hikes. One note: it's like 70 stairs from the driveway to the home, so if you're at all limited in mobility consider looking elsewhere!

Hidden Gem
My husband and I had the best weekend visit at this cabin. While it was very charming inside with the natural wood finish and cabin feel we really enjoyed the upgraded appliances and furniture. There is a beautiful mountain view from every window. We caught a little snow and it felt like a winter wonderland. I would recommend this location to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing weekend. Thank you Renee for opening up this lovely cabin for our short stay!

First time at Pinecrest
The property was in a nice area. The home at 70 stairs to climb to get to the entrance. This meant packing everything up a steep set of stairs multiple times to get food and luggage inside. This was not ideal and was not disclosed prior to our stay. Another thing to note is the renters must remove all their garbage or pay an additional fee to use the garbage service.

Anita,
First of all, thank you for your four star review! My family and local cleaning team work hard to earn every star our guests give us. However, your worded review was based on my cabin's rules and policies and about my cabin being built on the mountainside. Both were absolutely available to you and disclosed prior to your booking as they are in the public listing had you taken the time to review photos and read the rules prior to performing an Instant Booking. I feel your written review was unfair and mean spirited.
If you would have taken the time to read our policy, and preview the photos you could have rented a different cabin if it didn't satisfy you.
On top of it being in our public listing, as I do with 100% of my guests, I sent you a personal message prior to your arrival regarding the check out policy of disposing your own garbage. You actually had double disclosure because I want to make sure my policy is honored.
I'm surprized you didn't see the first four photos of our cabin's listing that clearly shows it sits at tree level. There's even a photo of the stepping pads and the railings we had our contractor install to assist our guests on the way up to the spectacular views. Other from walking up the steps, I know of no other way to get there.
The cabin is located in Bear territory and out of responsibility, safety, courtesy, and respect for my neighbors and guests we make sure no garbage is left behind for bears and other wildlife to scatter about. I also provide a list of options guests have including taking the garbage to a disposal site a few minutes from the cabin or offering you a hauling service from a local hauler for an extra fee. One thing is for sure regarding our cabin, guests will always arrive to a clean, and garbage free cabin because of our policy.
I wish you would have written a review on the cabin itself. Perhaps you could have mentioned how clean the cabin was when you arrived, or how fresh the linens were or how we welcomed your pet to stay with you. Perhaps you could have shared how lovely the views were from the deck and every room in the cabin or how peaceful your stay was because it's set back from the road. I'm sure the four stars were based on that.

Perfect for family get-together & getaway near the river and lake
Everything in the cabin was thoughtfully set up for convenience and comfort. Comfortable beds and linens; soap, shampoo & conditioner in the bathrooms; a well-stocked coffee bar, condiments, spices and cookware if you like to cook some meals in. We especially enjoyed the large deck and seating for morning and evening relaxing. There are books and games available to add to your fun. The home is in a quiet neighborhood where we felt comfortable going on our morning runs. Very nearby is the Sugar Pine Railway trail for hiking and river play, and Pinecrest Lake is only minutes away. As another reviewer mentioned, there are quite a few stairs up to the cabin from the parking area. This was not a problem for us, but it is something to consider if anyone in your party is less fit or able. We loved our stay!

Great cabin
Sugar Bear cabin was a great place to stay for nearby activities. We enjoyed the amenities the
cabin offered, especially in regards to cooking and kitchen. A really great surprise was the stocked up game room, and various VHS tapes, along with a VCR. My partner and I watched Face Off, something we would not have done otherwise, and an amazing blast from the past. The game room was such a nice touch, as well.
The beds were comfortable, and my partner and I both got a good night's sleep. The area itself is very isolated and noise-free, and beautiful. Our dog loved sniffing the various trees as we explored the yard together. The stairs are a bit of a pain but a great exercise, and the listing is 100% transparent regarding them.
Overall, I would definitely recommend this to others, as long as you are not going with a big (5+ people) family or have any injuries that doesn't let you take the stairs. We will definitely be back in the future.

Fresh mountain air with a view
Renee was helpful and responds quickly to any questions. Clean cabin, well stocked with all kitchen utensils and cute coffee bar and comfortable beds! Open windows in the late afternoon to get a slight breeze/cool down during hot days. Beautiful deck for hanging out and listening to the surrounding nature. Super close to the lake, about a 5 minute drive without road construction traffic. Lots of dvds and even VHSs (!) so fun for some 80s kids!
Want to come back during the winter and experience the snow.
The only thing… if you are not into stairs or do not do them well. This cute little place isn’t for you. There are 69 from the drive way to the deck. Great workout though!!

Lovely place to disconnect
This cabin is darling. The interior is what you would expect from a mountain cabin. The rooms are large and the beds quite comfortable. It’s perfect for a small group of 4, though it sleeps 6. It’s set back enough from other neighbors and set above the adjacent neighbor so it feels very private.
The cabin has a a big beautiful deck that catches the morning sun and is a wonderful spot for enjoying morning coffee and for us, also breakfast.
The location is great as it’s very close to Pinecrest Lake and the little town nearby. All within 10 minutes of the cabin.
Be mindful that there are 70 steps to climb to get to the property. This was a surprise for us, but luckily manageable. The entrance is only accessible on one side of the property. I would not recommend this for persons with disabilities that make it hard to walk. I also would not recommend this for elderly people.
Overall, it was a lovely stay.

Hi Cecilia,
Thank you for staying at Sugar Bear Cabin and for your review. Im so happy you enjoyed the deck. It is my first go to in the morning and the evening when I come up for a visit. You're right, there are a few steps as seen in the photos. We added railings to help aid in the trek up. Like a hike, when you reach the top, the reward is the view! The upclose views of the Sierra Pines! It truly is a treehouse cabin. You should see it when it snows. The views from up here are magical, and you feel like you are in the middle of a secluded forest. I thow open glass slider and watch the snow flakes gracefully falling. It's so quiet and peaceful. Also, it's fun to wake up and see the different animal tracks, in the fresh snow, left on the deck during the night!
We hope you return for another visit soon. Perhaps a winter visit!

Voici pourquoi l’hôte a choisi cet hébergement
We purchased this property due to the location, location and location. Sugar Bear Cabin is at the 2nd row. It is away from highway noise, yet elevated to enjoy treehouse views of the spectacular Sierra Pines! It is located in a quiet cul de sac, nesled in a forest making it private as well as peaceful! Located in a special and quaint community called Cold Springs. It sits at an elevation of 5,700 feet, in the Gateway of the High Sierras. It is surrounded by breathtaking High Sierra mountain views. We are 5 minutes away to Pinecrest Lake, and 15 minutes to Dodge Ridge Ski Resort. There's ice skating at Long Barn Lodge, snow tubing at Leland Snow Play and jet skiing, water tubing and skiing, or fishing at Beardsley Lake. Black Oak Casino is 20 minutes away where the whole family can enjoy bowling and arcade fun for all ages on the lower level.
Voici ce qui rend cet hébergement unique
Sugar Bear Cabin is unique because it is perched approximately 20' above the ground, and set back into the forest. It feels like a tree house. We are in a cul de sac and away from road noise. You can hear and feel nature. There is the beauty of the wind as it passes through the trees and a quiet peacefulness you can feel while relaxing on the deck, or sitting inside on a snowy day with views from every room to enjoy a spectacular winter wonderland as the snow gently falls. The sun sets between the trees and evokes the peace, and beauty of nature. Due to the unique way the cabin nestles into the forest on this large lot, it gives you the privacy! It doesn't get better than that!
