Comfortable home in a GREAT location

The home itself was fine. But what made this stay so special was the spectacular location! It's about a 10-minute drive from Sitka, which makes getting in and out of town very easy. But what's REALLY great is that the home is next to the water, and the view of Sitka Sound from the windows and backyard is amazing. I spent long stretches of time just relaxing in a chair by the water, watching the fish jumping, the boats going by, the clouds rolling in and out, the islands, the mountains, etc. The beauty and serenity are AMAZING!!! Also, the property manager and homeowner were very helpful and made everything easy for us.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The view from the house overlooking the ocean and Mount Edgecumbe is beautiful. The view was also seen from two of the three bedrooms downstairs. Binoculars were provided at the house which we did use to watch eagles, an otter, and a sea lion. The house was very clean, the kitchen well equipped. The location was convenient for us, a quick drive to grocery stores and into town, and also north for easy hiking at the Estuary Loop and Mosquito Cove. Enjoyed Totem Park, the hikes, Raptor Center and Fortress of the Bear, Sitka Sound Science Center. Our favorite meals were at Beak restaurant, serving locally sourced fish and other foods. I would definitely recommend this home!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The experience was great. The home was stocked with everything one would need for a great experience. It did not take away from the experience but a better description of the amount of stairs in the home would help, in case there are people in the group with limited mobility. There are stairs to get into the home-either the main floor or stairs to get to the bedrooms- which all bedrooms are on the bottom floor. Also, the "hints" on how to locate the home were incorrect so the directions should be updated. These are minor things, overall it was a great experience. As per value- the cost for the time there was high but it seems all of Sitka is expensive to stay. It definitely was much better than a small hotel room.

Beautiful Views

This is a beautiful home that is set up with all the amenities one would need. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the home. The views of the water were spectacular. We only wish we had stayed longer. Sitka is very charming with plenty of activities from hiking to fishing. We only wish the weather would have been better for our stay.

Should have paid more attention to the listing as the bedrooms were all downstairs and it was difficult with suitcases. The fur rugs were tripping hazard so we moved all of those. I just expected more for the price charged.
