We have been staying on Mount Desert Island for the past 5 years. The Farmhouse was a lovely home away fromhome that allowed us all to relax and regroup after our adventures. The kitchen is well set up and easy to adapt to, the seating areas/dens are comfortable and clean and the outdoor space is wonderful! We would definitely stay here again!

This was a wonderful place to stay for our family. Four bedrooms and two baths with two living rooms gave us the space to spread out after a day together. The front porch is lovely and we liked staying in Southwest Harbor. A bit more of a local feel and we had no trouble driving over to Bar Harbor often to eat, rent ebikes for the Carriage Road, etc. What gave us an advantage on this side is we did some things that not hundreds of other people were doing. A couple very nice hikes/walks along the shore. A great cafe breakfast. Ingrid was a great communicator and the place was very clean and comfortable. Kitchen was large and there is space for dining together if you choose.

What a beautiful home and wonderful stay! The house was comfortable and absolutely spotless, which I appreciated immensely. Everything was incredibly clean and well cared for, and we felt at home right away. Our host was extremely accommodating, responsive, and gracious throughout our stay. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would absolutely stay here again. Highly recommend!

We had a wonderful stay at this property! The location was convenient and made it easy to get to everything we wanted to see. The house itself was well kept and beautifully decorated — you can tell the owners put real care into it. The beds were comfortable, which made a big difference after long days out. We also loved the nice front yard and appreciated having ample parking for our vehicles. Water pressure was great, which is always a nice surprise at a rental. On top of all that, the host was responsive and easy to communicate with anytime we had a question. We’d happily stay here again!

What a spacious home! Loved the large kitchen and dining room. The home was very clean. The beds were comfortable. Also, having blackout shades was a bonus for the early sunrise in Maine during the summer. Parking was easy. The wrap around porch and backyard firepit added outdoor living space to the mix. Since the cushions for the outdoor furniture are stored indoors, they were clean and dry. Three of the four bedrooms have two windows for cross ventilation. We would definitely stay here again!

The property was very clean and in a great location, but unfortunately, the beds were extremely uncomfortable, which significantly impacted our stay.We understood that we were staying in an older farmhouse, so we were willing to overlook some of its quirks, such as the layout (only one bathroom upstairs), limited outlets, and squeaky doors and floors. However, a comfortable bed and a good night’s sleep are important, especially when spending your days hiking in Acadia. My husband and I stayed in the back left bedroom, and the mattress was incredibly hard and uncomfortable. I woke up with a very sore neck, which made my hiking day more difficult. My parents stayed in the primary bedroom and also commented that their bed was very hard. Since we were only staying two nights, I tried to make the best of it, but by the middle of the second night, I had to move to one of the twin beds just to get some sleep.We were also surprised by the checkout instructions, which included starting a load of towels, emptying all the trash cans and taking the garbage to the dumpster behind the property, and running the dishwasher. Given the substantial nightly rate and additional cleaning fee, I felt this was a lot, especially since we were trying to get on the road early. While the house itself is very charming, comfortable beds should be a basic expectation. Even adding some mattress toppers would be an improvement.

Melanie, I'm sorry you didn't find the beds comfortable. Beds are very subjective and the beds in that house are of medium firmness to try to appeal to the most amount of people. Some of the reviews actually comment on how comfortable they are.

We loved our stay at the farmhouse and in southwest harbor. Ingrid was a wonderful host - she even brought over a cooler we could use on our picnic. The home was well stocked and we enjoyed time on the patio and in the yard.

Excellent accommodations. Very clean; 3 double beds comfortable; did not use single beds. First floor sitting rooms each with TV very nice. Front porch and seating comfortable. Only downside: house faces busy road but is setback so road noise not too bad.

Wonderful house with all the amenities you will need. The large front porch was our favorite area to sit and chat for morning coffee and evening cocktails.

Perfect home!!

The Farmhouse was such a beautiful, spacious home. It had everything we needed, and communication with the owner was extremely helpful. Staying on Southwest Harbor was so relaxing and peaceful! We hope to come back soon!

Quiet side of the Island

Staying in the farmhouse was a wonderful experience - from the well appointed kitchen to the great location, what was not to love. The rooms were all spacious and beds comfortable. The house was a great place to call home while we explored Acadia. The added plus of the washer/dryer was wonderful. We hope to stay here next year when we come back for our annual friend trip to Acadia.

Family vaca

We love all things Acadia, and love being in Southwest Harbor. So this beautiful farmhouse was the perfect location and size for the 5 of us. We enjoyed the grill and eating on the deck, watching a rain storm from the front porch complete with comfy chairs, and slept wonderfully in wonderfully furnished rooms. Thanks so our hosts.

Good family time

The location to Southwest Harbor and Acadia was great. The rental house accommodations were good for our family. Road noise was disturbing. The rental cost for the week was high.

Great family getaway

We loved staying with our family of 6 on the quiet side of the island. It met all our needs. It was close to street but we noticed most of the properties in the area are. When sleeping it was sometimes loud with cars passing by but we all learned to use fans of the windows were open. The property was attractively decorated and it was a short walk to the town which was small but had a few restaurants and shop
