Fantastic stay

Our family of four stayed for 3 nights over Memorial Day weekend 2024 The unit was great and well fitted out. It’s currently in a quiet area of Lake Gaston so didn’t feel commercial which was nice. We enjoyed the complimentary kayak and water mat (despite the oars being missing). The games room was a great way to unwind after fun days on the lake. Would recommend the stay to others.

The home is roomy and has everything in it that you would need from kitchen supplies to linens and towels. The outside area could use a little TLC but nothing that impacted our stay. Also a small one page note with directions for the TV, second oven and check out process would be helpful.

The property has a great view of the lake. We went to celebrate my husband's birthday with friends and family. Game room was a big hit for the kids. We didnt get to go to the lake because it was raining just about the whole trip. The house is in great condition just in need of a deep cleaning. Overall we would stay again.

This property should be removed from Vrbo’s listings. As other reviews have stated, the rental is filthy, full of broken furniture/appliances, and has several unsafe areas. We spent the first day and a half of our stay, cleaning the place. It is clear that this property has not been inspected or maintained for cleanliness in a long time. This is not the result of one careless guest. This is complete neglect.The home has cobwebs, stuck on grease, dirt buildup, bugs, and mold in multiple areas. The front entrance porch is unstable, the doorknob was broken (as was the back sliding basement style door), and the kitchen and bathrooms were in unacceptable condition. The shower curtains had pink slime growing along the bottom. The sheets and mattresses were worn, stained, and covered with hair.Also, the decks and lake walk up were covered in wet leaves, uneven landings, and unstable wood planks. The listing photos are extremely misleading. There were exposed rusty nails, grime filled window sills, and garbage cans with bugs in them. The basement “bedroom” does not have an exit window, but a fake window with a towel as a curtain. I will be following up with Vrbo because no one should be staying here. This is the worst place we’ve booked. We were stuck here because there were no available bookings due to the holiday. If we were not so far from home, we would have left immediately! We have pictures and videos to validate this review. It feels like we were scammed.

Disappointing

When we arrived, we spent the first hour and a half just cleaning the home to be able to stay in the home and enjoy Thanksgiving with our family. We chose this home because the home did not have any carpet in my family and I have allergies and when we arrived, the rugs in the home were filthy. The full plants in the home were filthy. The kitchen was cleaned at a high level, but wasn’t a deep clean what was disappointing about that part was that the host share a message from the cleaning person who basically was saying to us she knows she cleaned the house and we have over 100 pictures showing our experience at this home. It was a very disappointing weekend. I was disappointed that I wasn’t able to create the memories with my family due to be an exhausted from working all week and running my company and then having to come to a home and clean it to enjoy staying in it in addition to the cleanliness of the home we were not able to lock the down downstairs door. We made the host aware they never sent anyone out so we had to rig the back door in order to feel safe to go to sleep. We were left with no paper towels or tissue in the home. We had to go out and buy both, however the host to drop them off, but that was ours after we indicated we didn’t have I would love to be able to post pictures so that people who want to rent this house are aware of what they’re walking into and then lastly when we went down to the dock, there are several steps that are unstable. I twisted my anany.

Looking for a free stay from the start. We have 24 properties that we own and we can tell people when they are scamming. It’s unfortunate but a part of the business.
