À propos de cet hébergement
Lakeside Cabin in the Trees with Views and Hot Tub
Heron’s Nest Cabin sits on a wooded hillside above Hale Passage and Bellingham Bay — a two-bedroom island retreat where towering firs, filtered water views, and a cedar hot tub under the trees set the tone from the moment you arrive. Guests consistently call this one of the most restorative places they’ve ever stayed, and the details make the difference: a soaking cedar hot tub, a wood stove to curl up beside, heated bathroom floors, vaulted ceilings, and a fully outfitted kitchen for slow mornings and easy dinners.
It’s only a short ferry ride from Bellingham, but Lummi Island operates on its own quiet clock — and this cabin slows you down the rest of the way.
THE SPACE What guests love most: Cedar hot tub — The clear fan favorite. Nestled in the trees off the deck, it’s the perfect cap to a hike or a cold afternoon. Available year-round. Outdoor cedar shower house — An open-air rinse surrounded by forest. Surprisingly beloved, even in cooler months. Wood stove — Perfect for cool evenings. Settle in with something warm and let the fire do the rest. King bedroom with ensuite — Walk-in shower, heated floors, and sleep-inviting quiet. The second bedroom is artfully decorated and equally comfortable. Chef-ready kitchen — Gas cooktop, full-size oven, and everything you need to cook a real meal. The dining table sits beside the windows with treetop views. Covered deck + fire pit — Surrounded by forest. Good for morning coffee, evening wine, or watching the light fade through the trees. Vaulted ceilings + window seats — Bright, airy, and designed for lingering.
The layout: Picture this: you wake up to light filtering through the trees, pad into the open living area, and put the kettle on while the wood stove takes the chill off the morning. The kitchen and dining space flow together naturally — treetop views from the table, everything within easy reach. When you’re ready, step outside to the covered deck, and from there it’s just a few steps to the hot tub tucked into the forest, the fire pit, or the cedar shower house. The whole place is designed to draw you outside, then pull you back in.
Getting here: Just a short ferry ride from Bellingham on the Whatcom Chief. The cabin is set on a hillside — please use care on slopes and around natural terrain. In winter, check weather before travel as ice and snow can affect road access.
**Dry Dock 2026 Our ferry, the Whatcom Chief, is out of service September 12 – October 4, 2026 for annual maintenance. Whatcom County runs a passenger-only ferry in its place. This year there is no on-island shuttle. The Heron`s Nest Cabin sits up a couple of steep hills from the ferry dock, so reaching the house means a demanding uphill walk with your luggage and food. If you are the adventurous type then this time on the island might be for you!
GUEST ACCESS The entire home is exclusively yours during your stay. This includes the cabin, covered deck, cedar hot tub, fire pit, and cedar shower house.
There is a treehouse on the property that can be added to your booking for up to two additional guests — contact Jackie for details. If it’s not part of your booking, it will be unoccupied and all amenities remain exclusively yours.
There is an exterior security camera on the property for use when the home is vacant. It is not monitored during your stay.
Self check-in via keypad — instructions provided before arrival.
A Rental Agreement is required to be signed before the cancellation period ends. It will be sent through the booking platform upon reservation.
As a professionally managed property you will receive top notch service and communication. PNW Concierge has a team ready to assist you before and during your stay.
We offer superior pre-stay information and services to ensure your vacation will be the best it can be! We prepare the Heron`s Nest Cabin with you in mind, taking care of the cleaning and preparation so you don`t have to worry about a thing. During your stay we are available to assist you with your questions about the house, the island and the surrounding area. We also limit our check out instructions - run the dishwasher, lock the windows and doors, and take out the trash if it`s stinky - THAT`S IT! Feel confident (and pampered) when you book with PNW Concierge LLC!
If you prefer to have your groceries or something special in the house upon your arrival guests may order concierge service as a separate amenity from this booking by going to PNW Concierge on the web.
Other services and amenities are available as well, including during stay housekeeping, and a personal chef service (when available)!
Once you book, we will send you all the information you need to plan and have a great stay.
If you have any questions about the house or the area prior to booking please contact us, we will happily answer any questions you have.
A trip on the Whatcom Chief Ferry is required to get to the Heron`s Nest Cabin. The ferry is operated by Whatcom County, and runs at least every hour between 5.40am and midnight on weekdays, a little less on weekends. Round trip fare is $24 for the vehicle and driver and $10 per passenger or for walk-ons. Fare is collected during the run to the island by the purser who will come to your vehicle to collect - credit or debit card only, no cash is accepted.
Walk, bike or drive to the house from the ferry dock and `downtown` Lummi Island. We are approximately 3.5 miles from this area of the island. `Downtown Lummi Island` consists of The Islander - general store, coffee and pastries, wine, beer and alcohol. Also attached is Sisters Gallery which highlights Island Crafters and Artisans.
The Island Library has books and movies, of course but also an island history section. The Island Post Office is a full service post office with limited hours, and the Beach Store Cafe has great pizza and specials every weekend. The home is not child-proofed - there are no covers on the outlets, or locks on cabinets containing cleaning products, etc. You are responsible for taking precautions to keep your children safe. The property is near a (quiet) road and is not fenced, please keep your children within sight distance.
There are security cameras in the back yard. There are NO cameras inside the treehouse or cabin. Cameras are not monitored during guest stay. They are for security between stays only.
The property is directly across the street from a body of water, please be aware of water safety.
The property has an in-ground hot tub, play structure, fire pit and a treehouse. (The treehouse is not included unless an additional fee has been added to your reservation.) Care must be taken in and around these items and on all parts of the property. Parental supervision is required at all times when on the property.
In respect of our neighbors we ask for quiet time between 10pm and 8am. Please note that noise travels easily and far in this area.
Our good neighbor policy is in the documents we send prior to your arrival. Read and adhere to them.
Only guests listed on the booking are permitted at the home unless prior approval by PNW Concierge (this includes both daytime and nighttime visitors.)
Booking rates, fees and taxes are listed in USD.
