Step back in time to 1914 and enjoy this updated guesthouse with delightful front and back porches, beautifully decorated interior and fully stocked kitchen. Perfect home base for your trip to Round Top/Warrenton and just around the corner from The Ice Plant Building wedding venue! Join us for a your pre-wedding activities, a girls getaway or just to explore the incredibly cute town of La Grange!

Please note that La Grange has a working train that comes through the middle of town. There is no set schedule for the train and it can come through at various times throughout the day and night. This property is adjacent to the tracks and while many guests find it charming and enjoy watching the train pass by, ear plugs are provided should the noise disturb you.

Historical home

Great girls trip stay

This was exactly as described! There is a loud train to note that tumbles though throughout the night, as mentioned in the description House was cute and comfortable, and very accessible for our Round Top shopping!

The Ginger Jar House is a beautiful example of Victoriana with the bonus of all the modern conveniences. For a house of this age, it is amazingly solid and very well-insulated. We had anticipated weathering a pretty significant wind event - but it was cozy & muted inside. The layout is extremely conducive to a family gathering and the kitchen is well-appointed. The bedrooms are very comfortable with full bathrooms for each. Every room felt like a welcoming home made just for us. My son loved the attic room and though the stairs are steep, they’re well lit with a very solid handrail. Our goal was to have a place that was accessible and comfortable for my 87 year old Mom - and she loved it! She raved about the bed and every chair she sat in. Her specific comment was that the house is beautifully designed and decorated but it felt like it was designed and decorated for us to be able to make it ours for our stay. We particularly enjoyed being walking distance to the HEB as well as to our family who recently moved to La Grange. It was excellent for what we needed for a brief stay - but I think it would be glorious for an even longer stay to take further advantage of its own amenities as well as all that La Grange has to offer. Thanks again!

The property was lovely and comfortable and the host was helpful and responsive. My husband and I enjoyed a weekend at the Ginger Jar as our home base while seeing performances in Gonzales, La Grange and Winedale. We enjoyed the patio each evening and had family over for lunch one day - all raved about the charming decor. Everything we needed was provided and high quality. The train (which is fully disclosed) is no joke and it did come by 3 times a night. It worked for our short stay without any early mornings but be aware.

I’m Caroline and live in Austin with my three children. Life is super busy! Which is why I love the slower pace, sense of community and ease that comes with staying in a small Texas town like La Grange.

I also love anything that has a story behind it and has character that can be felt- like antiques and old homes! Whether you are on a girl’s trip to reconnect, a visit to Round Top or just to unwind in a quieter space, I truly hope you enjoy it here as much as I do!

Voici pourquoi l’hĂŽte a choisi cet hĂ©bergement

The house is a restored Victorian guesthouse. There are 2 bedrooms on the main level, one with a king-size bed and one with a queen; two twins on the second floor and a queen pull out sofa in the living room. One bathroom features a claw foot tub and a hand held shower, one bathroom has a full size bathtub and there is also a stand up shower on the main level. There is a clawfoot tub upstairs that has been converted into a shower.

In the kitchen please help yourself to bottled water in the fridge and Keurig coffee, drip coffee and tea selections. Powdered creamer, sugar and salt and pepper are provided.

If you are joining us for Round Top Antique Festival we have a full size garage that you are welcome to store your finds in. There is an automatic side gate that leads to the driveway and garage. The driveway can accommodate 2-3 cars for off street parking.

La Grange is a charming little town and you are just three blocks away from the town square and courthouse, where there is a coffee shop, wine bar, antique shops and boutiques. Round Top and Warrenton are both just a short drive from the house. If you are attending a wedding at The Ice Plant Building, you are literally around the corner from the wedding venue!

There are a number of fun activities including a winery, brewery and historical sites that you can visit from La Grange. Also don’t miss the famed Kolache Trail! Check out the La Grange Visitors Guide here!

Please remember that La Grange has a working train that comes through the heart of town. The whistle blows at various times throughout the day and even at night. Most guests find it charming and part of the small town experience, but ear plugs are provided if needed.
