Rustic, smelly cabin lacking in cleanliness and amenities. Not ideal for older people because of steep steps and poor lighting. Gravel road under construction leading to cabin. Loved the fireplace and porch area.
The cabin was very neat and clean. The floors creaked a lot and it was not level in some areas. I learned that the cabin was built in 1981. Lighting was dim. Both rooms have queen beds and they were very comfortable. The fireplace was warm and cozy. The shower did not have much water pressure and after soaping up my hair and body the water cut off. It stayed off for about two minutes and I did not know how I was going to rinse my hair or body. The faucets in the bathroom did not have water either. The water finally came back on after a few minutes and the pressure was better. The cabin is cozy and sitting outside on the deck or back porch area with a cup of coffee was really nice. I loved listening to the water in the creek. We had a good time. They were working on the roads to the cabin and there was a lot of rock dust. Our car was covered in white powder. The road to the cabin is gravel.
Loved the coziness and charm of this cabin with the hewn timbers, rustic furniture & decor, and the stone fireplace. Side deck with warm, glowing string lights and sounds of mountain water trickling down the rocks into the creek was a perfect spot to hang and relax. All the creature comforts we needed were furnished: wi-fi, TV w/streaming stick, cookware/utensils, Keurig, towels, linens, maps, etc. The location was awesome. We felt like we were well off the beaten path but at the same time just 12 min from downtown Blowing Rock and central and convenient to many other attractions. The cabin and grounds were clean and well maintained. Couldn't be happier and would love to return again.
My daughter and her 2 small children stayed for 4 nights. We felt like the location was perfect- between Boone and Blowing Rock, yet down a very quiet road with not much traffic. The house was comfortable and well equipped. We loved the gas log fire place, as we had some really cold weather. The little creek next to the cabin have a nice ambiance but it was too cold to enjoy the porch. We enjoyed our stay and the only negative thing was some dogs next door that liked to bark at night. Made me wonder about bear activity!
Property is beautifully located near a creek that you can hear from the living room area, and very secluded from the main roads. Not a stay for everyone since after sundown itâs absolutely scary. Nothing near to do after sundown not even restaurants, just fast food places. Deck sitting area is perfect to relax and reflect during the day and early evening. Property inside is nicely decorated and functional. Bedrooms are oddly distributed since you have a queen bed with a twin in one room and a full in another room. Meaning if youâre a young couple, if you want privacy you have to stay in the smaller room in a small full size bed which the mattress will kill your back!. Bed covers, throws and towels had white hairs and smelled humid or sweaty which was a no! No!
I had a hard time with the dust and dead termites in the window frames and overall within the unit making me sick the whole stay. Fully equipped kitchen with nothing nearby to eat, this calls for cooking in the cabin but careful with the fees! We left kcups, sugar, and some unopened seasoning in the kitchen, left towels washing before we checked out and washed dishes, yet owner charged extra for having trash in the trashcan. Overall I wouldnât recommend or stay again since youâre at risk of being charged extra without any reason. I regret spending minutes of my stay trying to do the right thing.
