**History of The Awosting Club** In the mid 1950's John Atwater Bradley, then a graduate student, attended a conference in Cragsmoor, the site of a celebrated art colony not far from what is now the Awosting Reserve and The Awosting Club. The next morning at dawn, he went out for an exploratory hike and did not return until long after dark. Bradley hiked through evergreen and hardwood forests, along bubbling streams, roaring waterfalls and shimmering mountain lakes. He discovered an incredible wilderness like none he'd ever seen, populated by whitetail deer, black bear, fox, raccoons, bobcat and coyote as well as a natural aviary of hawks, peregrine falcons, owls, eagles and pileated woodpeckers. That day he fell in love with the Shawangunk Ridge.
The Bradley family still maintains the property, and after 50 years of sharing the property with educational organizations, schools, artists, writers, explorers, camps, family and friends, are excited to invite others to fall in love with the Shawangunk Ridge as John Bradley had over 70 years ago. Bradley's daughter, Camilla, and her family are keeping the Awosting traditions alive by sprucing up the camp buildings and platforms while maintaining the trails that have been used for decades for outdoor adventures: from sleeping to eating to playing to communing with nature in all her glory.

A magical stay at an extraordinary property! More tranquil and beautiful than photos can show. I slept deeply in the comfy bed and next morning hiked up to the waterfall and views of the Hudson Valley. Friendly and attentive host.

Amazing property and amazing geodome. Very comfortable, the views are amazing and the fact that the property had a trail on it made it that much better. Outhouse was clean. Geodomes are heated but make sure if you are staying in the Winter months to run it during the day to avoid being cold at night. I loved it and will be back.

We loved staying at the Awosting Club geo-dome by the river. I loved spending my birthday there, hiking to the waterfall on the property, and lounging in the hammock and by the fire. Our beagle also loved it so much he got zoomies and ran around the dome tent and our car 3 times. I plan to come back as soon as I can, I think this site is perfect for cold weather camping or when you need a low-hastle getaway but still want to be in nature. This is now on my list of favorites! Thank you Katie and Camilla!

Our stay in the geo-dome tent was amazing! Booking was easy and communication with the property manager (Katie) was very smooth. She checked in with us the day before arrival with some basic instructions and the actual checkin process when we arrived was very quick. The tent was extremely clean and very cutely decorated. The outhouse was superb, clean, and odorless, and I have used a lot of camping outhouses previously. There is a private waterfall in the property and you can hear it from the tent, it provides a wonderful background noise. There are some private trails on the property, unfortunately it was very short stay for us and we didn’t have time to take advantage of this perk, but the trail heads were clearly marked. Some tents have closer parking to them than others, so keep that in mind if you have difficulty moving over uneven terrain. The drive up to the tent was on a small gravel road, which was fairly steep in some places but not necessary to have 4WD in fair weather. I’m not sure how the road would be in winter. We loved staying here and will be back in the future!
