Come spend the holidays in this well maintained 2 bedroom house with ornamental trees, shrubs and annual flowers. Shawangunk house is close to major attractions, private yet not isolated. The bathroom and kitchen are both remodeled and updated with new appliances.
Listen to the sounds of life as you read a book in the Florida room. Cozy up to a good movie in the living room. Downstairs, in the basement is a music and gameroom. The music room is equipped with an electric guitar, keyboard, and drums. Outside, there is a firepit. The house is on almost an acre. You can also have a barbecue. Feet from the house is a plateau composed of sedimentary rock. On this plateau, you have a panoramic view of the Shawangunk mountains. We call this special hill our Little Big Shawangunk. There is also a short trail through our small private forest. Shawangunk is minutes away from Ellenville, New Paltz, Rosendale, Accord, and Stone Ridge. It is also minutes from the Arrowood breweries, Lake Minnawaska, and the Mohonk preserve. It is also close to many popular restaurants, such as Rough Cut, Mill and Main, Westwind Orchards, Arrowood,and Inness. Shadowland Theater is a great place to watch a play. The property has many beautiful flowering plants. Rose of Sharon's, Mimosas, Forsythia, hybrid tea, roses, Pawlownias, Chinese dogwood, sedums and a Crepe Myrtle, are landscaped around the property. Pets are welcome. However town ordinances require dogs to be leashed.

Come and get a breath of fresh air at the Shawangunk house.
There are many arbnb's in our area.
Our home is the most affordable yet offers more amenities than the others.
For example, our home has a small private forest for walking and viewing portions of the Schawngunk mountains.
Our home also has a firepit for a small campfire and a music/game room.

Cute cottage

We were visiting a camp nearby, so used the cottage just for sleeping. It was clean and comfortable. My husband visited Lake Minewaska, which is a short drive. There are some nice restaurants close by. We definitely recommend it.

Nice little old house, great location

Loved the area. Definitely an older home, but nice. Lots of games and toys if you have kids with you.

The bathroom and kitchen were totally renovated three years ago. The living room floor was replaced last year. Thank you for leaving the house clean. Also a big shout out for washing the towels. We hope to see your beautiful family soon. I am so happy the kids enjoyed the game room/music room. I should better call it the recreation room. Next time you come up hike up our little Schawngunk and take in the panoramic view of the countryside.

I'm glad you enjoyed your hikes at Minnewaska state park. Next time come and hike the Catskills and see a hand made reservoir, the Ashokan. You left our home nice and clean. I really appreciate that.

Close to Park, Fishing, Trails, etc.

So much to do in the neighborhood- Lippman Park down the block for fishing, bike trails, the fire pit is huge keeping us warm on chilly nights.

Close to Minnewaska State Park

We were looking for a comfortable place to stay with our dog that was close to Minnewaska State park and this property worked out nicely. It was clean and had everything needed for a couple night stay. The property is on a fairly busy road, which was the only drawback, we generally prefer quieter more secluded locations. All in all, if you need a place to stay in the area I would recommend it, if we come back for another quick get away, we would happily stay here again.

I chose this place because of the music instruments and that's what made my stay so enjoyable. However I also found the house to be clean and well stocked with everything I needed, the location felt safe and the owner was easy to communicate with. I would definitely stay here again.

Fall Getaway

The hosts were very accommodating for me during hurricane Milton by adjusting the reservation. The location and property were just as described. Lots of things to do nearby. Only suggestion would be maybe add a house manual at the property with WI-FI password, etc.

Clean and cheerful but the road was too noisy

Very clean, cheerful place that had everything we needed. Very close to lots of hiking, biking, and climbing. Unfortunately the road is very noisy all day and all night, even with the windows closed.

Just what we needed

Our stay at Sue's place was just perfect. The owner was reallly interactive before and during our stay. The house is a bit old but clean and well equipped. The kids loved the games in the basement. We were in the area for rock climbing in the Gunks, great location for that !

Cute Home

We took the weekend to celebrate a birthday. The home is on a main road, but there were no issues try to get in and out of the property. It is close to so many things. The home was neat and very clean. We enjoyed playing air hockey and fuss ball in the evening. I would definitely recommend this home.

Everything was fine. The property was on a main road which was the only thing I didnt like. (We have a dog) Other than that the hosts were very thoughtful and accommodating.

I hope you come again. I made the trail in back of the house more accommodating and inviting by clearing the brush with the lawnmower. So now there is a clear path to walk your dog and see a partial view of the Schawngunk mountains.

Nice landing spot

This home was a nice place to land. We were visiting friends in the area so we only used the house for sleeping at night. I don't think we would've wanted to hang out much in the house. Being able to bring our dog was great. Snacks were also made available by the host (which we appreciated), but there was no garbage can in the kitchen.

Has great potential!

The property manager was very communicative and the check-in process was easy. We were greeted with snacks and water on the kitchen table. The location of the property was great for the hiking locations we visited. The beds had fresh sheets but the windows did not have blinds/shades for privacy/light in the morning. I had to clean the bathroom and kitchen, both were not clean. There was dog hair on the furniture in the living room and the fire pit was inaccessible. It looks like they are still renovating the home and with some more TLC/maintenance, it can be a great rental!

It served our purpose- but I probably wouldn’t book again.

The mattresses were terrible. After the first night my husband & I went to Walmart & purchased a 3” memory foam topper- which kinda helped make it less torture. (We gave it to friends when we left) The sheets & blankets seemed new & clean. The bathroom was newly remodeled, unfortunately, they weren’t hooks anywhere to hang things from- that would’ve helped a lot. The window in the shower is not privacy glass, and at one point the owner (or someone they hired), showed up and walked into the backyard while my son was in the shower. Had a woman been showering, that could’ve been awkward to say the least. None of the doors closed properly, & if you did get them to actually close- you smashed your toe getting it open later (happened to 2 of us) I give it 3.5 stars for cleanliness- at one point I dropped my watch behind the bed, & pulled out a family of dust bunnies with it. The washing machine & dryer worked- but the bleach dispenser & lid was dirty, so bleh. The basement is full of random stuff, the “music room” Is down there- watch your head! It’s an OLD basement with low ceilings. I won’t get into the worst painting job I’ve ever seen- cuz honestly who cares if a vrbo paint job is horrible, you’re not moving in, (but my husband is a painter & it was shocking & kinda hilarious to us how it was left) Overall- it served our needs for visiting family nearby- & it has a lot of potential- but it’s just ok at best.

I am disappointed at the level of sloppiness you left the house at. Filthy dishes in the sink, kitchen can overflowing with garbage, linen indiscriminately thrown on the floor, lights left on, windows wide open, and the basement door left wide open. The house did not look like that when you arrived. I believe you showed very bad manners in leaving the house this way. We called you twice during your stay to find out how things were. No reply. Your actions showed no respect for our house and reveals that you certainly do not practice what you preach. However we will take up your suggestions. You are welcome back again but under different circumstances. You must not leave our house a hot sloppy mess. I wanted to charge you for the hot mess you left but my wife said no. If you were really sincere you could have left the mattress topper for other guests. How could you fail to notice the empty trash can outside? Only one closet door did not close properly. You are getting a fine home at a very reasonable rate. Why complain?
