The place is dated, window frames show water damage, pots and pans need replacing BUT if you aren’t expecting the Ritz Carlton (and you certainly aren’t paying for the ritz Carlton) you won’t be disappointed. Location great, beach great, views great and very comfortable. Quiet complex would definitely stay again

Reviewer Comments: We love Hale Kai and have been brining our growing family for close to a decade. #211 was nice and spacious and was wonderful to have the upstairs loft and bathroom for our kids. The unit is a little dark (which helped everyone sleep), and not as ocean front as we are used to, but it was clean and well maintained. Could use some upgrades, but you can't beat the location of Hale Kai.

My Happy Place

Plus Maui has an exceptional transportation system and the bus stop is just steps away. The staff is exceptionally helpful and friendly. I always find the unit in spotless condition. My sister and niece traveled with me this year and are already talking about next year. We had a wonderful time. I can highly recommend Hale Kai if you're looking for a reasonably priced unit in a great location.

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We all felt that the unit was not cleaned well before we checked in esp the floors. upstairs bath needs some work. The kitchen needs a larger bread board as well as some plastic wrap/foil and a couple covered Tupperware type bowls (there were no bowls with lids ) No extra sheets upstairs and I suggest one more roll of tp per bathroom as rolls were super small and very thin paper (we stayed 11 nights). Both bathrooms were completely out

Hale Kai or Hale ByeBye?

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was somewhat dirty. I was very happy with the location. I was very dissatisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: While the location of Halr Kai is nearly perfect for us, the condo we rented has seen its glory fade to a shabby version of its former self. We arrived to a rather dark, dingy apartment with nine burned out lightbulbs, numerous unworking power plugs, rotted window frames, filthy furniture, and a next door neighbor (full time tenant wovrks for the complex) with a barking dog. I’ve stayed at Hale Kai three or four times previously — the first time in 1985, and each of the units have been very pleasant. Unit 112, not so much. The crew at Hale Kai were great! They were all smiles and helpfulness. As I said, the location is fantastic, with a community park next door and a pool overlooking the ocean. The grounds and exterior are meticulously groomed.

My Secret Little Happy Place

Walkable to groceries, morning coffee and restaurants. Decor is straight out of the 70s but the unit is immaculately clean and well equipped. Love the park/ocean view off the deck. Only downside is the street noise at night. But, it's right off the street so it's to be expected and it's not overwhelming.

Valerie and her staff are always friendly and helpful. It's in a perfect location. You can walk to anything you need as far as restaurants or groceries are concerned. Property manager was helpful In booking process, grounds well cared for, and friendly people including several repeat guests. The number of people who return to this property is a testament to its value, service and location. Mahalo and see you again in 2020!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: Great location with pool and private beach. Enjoyed watching the turtles:-) Only downside was first floor bedroom too hot to sleep in when weather is hot as no separate AC unit. Family area and second floor bedroom both have AC units. Had to sleep on the couch.

Reviewer Comments: While Hale Kai is an older complex with some very dated units and lack of a/c in most, it is a welcoming place. Oceanside pool, great little beach park next door. Good location just outside of Kaanapali.

Perfect two week trip to Maui

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was very satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The unit and complex were great, just as described. The office was very helpful. We made many friends hanging out at the pool at sunset, and saw turtles at the beach almost every day. The coffee shop and farmers market across the street was convenient. We went to many nearby beaches, but Napili Bay was our favorite.
