Hardwick Hygge contemporary retreat with lake views

Hardwick Hygge (hue-guh, Danish for "cozy") is a contemporary retreat in Central Massachusetts with lake views and a Scandinavian aesthetic. Come relax at on Hardwick Pond in Hardwick Massachusetts, a quaint and quiet farm town. Hardwick Hygge is a great place to get away and unwind, with a fully open floor plan overlooking the lake, two bedrooms and a convertible office/work space. A patio and open field surrounds the property, offering opportunities to play lawn games or sit by the firepit. A Finnish-style sauna offers an authentic "hygge" experience. The surrounding area has multiple breweries and wineries, with Hardwick Winery just a mile and a half up the road. Ware is a 10 minute drive with full grocery and other amenities.

My wife, brother and sister-in-law stayed here for several days while attending the Brimfield antique show. It is a spectacular property in a peaceful and bucolic area. The home was spotless and inviting. The sauna was a welcome respite after walking miles through the show each day. Our hosts were attentive prior to our stay and during our time there, although we had no need to contact them as everything went like clockwork from booking, arrival, stay and departure. A wonderful place!

Hardwick Hygge was extremely comfortable and homey and had everything we needed. A nice, big table has been added to the patio! I was extremely thankful that my pup was allowed and it was great walking her around the neighborhood!

Clean, Comfortable, and Quiet

A really nice stay; clean and cozy. Didn't try out the spa but looked new and like it could fit your entire family inside. I liked the balcony for enjoying the lake view and breezes. A/C available for hot days in all spaces. Bedrooms, laundry, and full bath on ground level. Living space with 1/2 bath on 2nd level. I think the tall grass is on purpose for this property, but I found ticks on myself and dogs about every potty break unfortunately. The area is very quiet on a dirt road. Make sure to read drive in instructions before approaching property, so you don't miss the dirt road. Wifi available on site, not much cell coverage for Verizon here. Well-equipped new home, very convenient drive to Brimfield. Thanks for having me!

Beyond Expectations

The property is lovely inside and out. The house was completely stocked and worked for a group of family members from the age of 3 years old to 70 years old. Also there are a lot of good places to eat in the area, and a lot of near by college towns with museums and other attractions. And the nearby Quibben Resevoir is stunning. And when we had little questions about the house, the hosts were very quick to answer them. Highly recommend.

Brimfield getaway

This property is awesome. Location was only about 25 minute drive to the flea market, which was our reason for visiting the area. House was spotless, provided alot of necessities in case anything was forgotten. Its location is quiet and secluded. We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend it to anyone.

Perfect for us.

The Hardwick Hygge home was exactly what we needed for our stay in the area. We shopped Brimfield in the day and relaxed in the evenings. Quiet area, well equipped, and easy to get to.

Perfect stay for a track weekend!

My wife, young pup and I spent a weekend at Hardwick Hygge and it was the perfect reprieve after a day at Palmer Motorsports. The house was very clean and absolutely beautiful. We experienced both sunny weather with the perfect pond view, and thunderstorms with a cozy spot to relax. The beds were comfy, and our pup loved the small deck off the kitchen. Very peaceful and quiet. We didn’t plan to cook, but the kitchen was well stocked with appliances and basics. There is even a smoker outside, which sadly we didn’t pack for. Plenty of take out spots in the neighboring town of Ware - about 10 min away. Overall we had a lovely time and it was a perfect spot for our stay. Thank you to the hosts!

Nice new property, Lake view

Nice new construction, lake view, modern styling and layout, nice bathrooms, kitchen, etc. Very responsive host. By far the nicest and newest place in the area. My only two areas for improvement would be 1- mow a section of the 2' grass/meadow surrounding the house for a comfortable spot to enjoy the firepit, and 2- invest a little $ in a used hard kayak, as I couldn't figure out how to inflate one section of the inflatable kayak and it would have been great to just grab a hard kayak and get out on the water. The neighborhood is interesting. Some renovated camps, some in total disrepair, and one nearby with a neighbor shooting a paintball gun or bb gun at night while loudly bragging about killing 38 beavers so far this year. But what are ya gonna do? It's rustic.

Hygge House was perfect!

A beautiful house with spectacular views! We really enjoyed going back to the house after our daughter’s college graduation and relaxing. It was so quiet and peaceful. The house has everything. Our elderly dog really loved it. He didn’t want to leave. Thank you, Joel and Leah!

Feeling the Hygge

My husband and I stayed here for a few nights with our dog and had a GREAT time! The host was incredibly helpful, patient, and kind with answering all my questions. This vrbo is beautiful and so so quiet and peaceful. We only wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely be back!

Best Home Away From Home

This amazing property was the best home away from home as we dropped off our son at Amherst College. The home is beautiful, pristine, and very comfortable. The owners have put together a thoughtful manual for checking in/out and great eateries during the stay. We can't wait for our next trip. A 10 out of 10!
