Both adults & kids love the gigantic artist’s chalkboard in the lower unit. This unit is great for an additional family, grandparents or as mother-in-law quarters. It feels connected, yet private.

If you want to take in some real surfing, Magic Sands Beach is 13 mins away. Also, take a short trip to arguably one of the best spots in all of the Hawaiian Islands, Kealakekua Bay (16 mins away). Historic Two-Step Beach is 22 mins away w/ its magnificent black rock coral entry where you drop in & snorkel with the most colorful fish within seconds of being in the water.

We had a wonderful stay! The house was exactly as pictured and the hosts provided many essentials needed to get the week started. We were also pleasantly surprised by the beach items and other kid friendly toys, books, etc. We would definitely stay again!

It was a great house for our group of 10. It was a good location. We had an issues with ants but they brought us ant bait. The house was clean and had most things we needed. I would suggest stocking a group of 10 for 10 days with more toilet paper and more pots and pans as it was hard to cook big meals with what was there.

Clean, quiet, well stocked, amazing location with all amenities nearby. Views are world class. Within 20 minutes of great beaches. The house is ideally set up for a larger family with a full studio for older kids or another small family.

Amazing Vacation

We really enjoyed this property. From the quiet neighborhood to the amazing views. We were a large group and this house had room for everyone. Only ding ding was that the property description lists a queen bed downstairs but was actually a sofa-sleeper.

The house looked nice, there were newer appliances and even laundry detergent.However parts of the screens were detached from the wall, leading to a lot of little flying insects and ants inside. I requested to have the screens fixed and reported a wobbly ceiling fan that wouldn't stop, but nothing was done. In fact, they claimed a handyman came and fixed the fan, but it still wasn't working properly.

Great Vacation

The house was perfect for our stay. The kitchen was equipped and so were the bathrooms. There was no AC however all the fans around the house were great! The lanais were pleasant and the grill was a great help for cooking food. The house was awesome and the yard provides us some apple bananas and avocados!

Sunsets and lots of space

Family of 10 was just right for this property, everyone had a bed including the pull-out couch. Enjoyed the sunsets everyday, lots of room on the balcony with a solar LED umbrella and BBQ. Some dirty pots on arrival and towels were pretty musty, corrected with cleaning, no big deal.Sliding balcony/patio doors need some maintenance as well as some windows but manageable. Parking was great for two vehicles, road in front is pretty steep but normal for the area. Would stay again for sure.

Kealakekua property

We had a lovely stay at the Kealakekua property on the Kona side of the Big Island. This was our first trip to Hawaii, and it was a great choice for meeting up with friends from Europe. The accommodations were comfortable, well-appointed, and provided everything we needed for a relaxing stay. The views from both lanais were beautiful, especially during the sunsets, which were a highlight of our evenings. The property was clean, and the property management team was helpful and quick to respond whenever we had questions. This home made a great base for exploring the Big Island, and we left with many wonderful memories. Thank you for hosting us and helping make our first visit to Hawaii so enjoyable!

Lovely Hillside Home Overlooking Ocean

Plenty of towels, including beach towels, extra bedding and blankets, too. Great to have beach paraphernalia available (chairs, boogie board, mat, umbrella, snorkel, coolers). The decks were nice with furniture and BBQ worked well. It was helpful to have the outside shower, even with hot water!The location was very convenient for going on manta ray and other snorkel trips, as well as farther south to snorkel and explore. The property managers were excellent with communication. They alerted us that the dishwasher needed replacing and were actually able to install a new one on a Saturday as we were moving in. We very much enjoyed our stay. Mahalo.

Overall, I do not recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The downstairs unit smells moldy, with visible mold in the washer. The smell was unbearable, and alternative arrangements had to be made for those sleeping downstairs. This issue is known, as an air filter is available, although the filter in the machine was filthy. The presence of a strong odor and visible mold in the washer is unacceptable, and we take these concerns seriously. We appreciate you pointing out the condition of the air filter and the moisture-wicking products—these were meant as proactive measures, but clearly, they fell short. We’ve already scheduled a deep cleaning of the unit, including the washer, and will be replacing or professionally servicing the air filter system immediately. Escape to Paradise!

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was spotless. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We were very fortunate to be able to schedule a mini-family reunion with two of our sons and their families at Halekii Sunset in mid-June. The property was perfect and easily accommodated 5 adults and four children. We enjoyed the sunsets and views of the ocean as well as the nature sounds of the birds and coqui frogs. The children appreciated the yard space as well as the supply of beach toys! The kitchen had all the necessary dishes and cookware necessary to make meals, as well as a blender for pina coladas! The each of the three bathrooms included bath products and a hair dryer, a good thing since we had a teenager with us, and the littles loved the outdoor shower. The property manager was extremely communicative and quickly responded to our questions. We would definitely recommend Halekii Sunset to families looking for a quiet neighborhood for their Hawaii experience.
