I am very pleased that you found the Emerald Island staff helpful, that is not the case in every resort and I will pass that on. Hello Lynn. Out starter kit is as good as any around, and our paperwork, all of it, constantly reminds guests that this is self catering accommodation. That is why we very rarely get any complaints about that, indeed the opposite would be true. The starter kit is extensive, and comes at no cost to the guest. Regarding the hotel comparison, this is not a motel. A hotel is one room, 200 square feet if you are lucky, with one bathroom. This is 1300 sq ft, 3 bathrooms, a kitchen and even a laundry room, and could not be more different, yet in many cases still costs less than a motel would. We can't force people to read the paperwork we send out, but when they somehow manage to find their way to the home using the very same arrival pack that tells them it is self catering accommodation, it is surely reasonable to assume that they saw that too. We will look at that and see if there is any way we can make it even more obvious that it already is. We are pleased that Lynn enjoyed her stay, but disappointed in the review for the reasons stated.

We gave Daniel a 5 star review. It was a pleasure having him in our home and we were under the impression that he had enjoyed his stay and had no issues as we did not hear anything from him during his stay. It would appear that is not the case, but it doesn't change our view and he is welcome back any time. Regarding the mattresses though , we have never had such a complaint before from any of the hundreds of guests who have stayed in this very popular home so that was a surprise. We do pass on all legitimate complaints though and we will certainly let the owner know of this. While beds are often a matter of personal preference and everybody else appeared to have no issue, the owner will hopefully consider this one complaint and address it. He doesn't really skimp on anything actually, and has done all he can to ensure the home looks as good as it always does, and he certainly wants his guests to be happy. Daniel is right about the resort fee though. The fee is actually mentioned on the resort website and has nothing at all to do with us, but we have now amended the listing to mention it now. It is a relatively new fee, introduced with the new management company on site, and it is $20 as Daniel said, but it is a per stay fee and not per night. Again, this is the first time anyone has ever mentioned it, and a little due diligence on the resort in advance may have been a good idea and may have prevented it being mentioned in a review that potentially hurts the home, and not the resort that actually charges it. Still, it is what it is and we do hope that Daniel and his family enjoyed their stay.

Location is so important, especially in the busier months, and while it can be difficult to get anywhere quickly at times, guests staying here often make the same comment about how easy it was to get around. I am also pleased that you found Emerald Island to be a quiet resort, because we do push it as a tranquil and relaxing place to be and it is nice that you found it that way.
