The woodshed is loaded with free firewood. Behind the house is a two-acre play with a second communal fire pit and picnic area bordered by a small creek. A place to run your dogs, play badminton, volleyball, horseshoes, or simply sit by the creek and contemplate the water flowing on its trip from the mountains to the sea while sipping wine with your favorite other. During the season, we encourage you to make use of the blueberry bushes and enjoy the fresh fruit. Although quiet and somewhat secluded, it is only a ten-minute drive to downtown Franklin on paved roads with easy year-round access. Downtown Franklin is about 8 minutes from the house. Franklin offers a unique charming small mountain town feel with plenty of options for dining, shopping, museums, breweries, activities, events, and much more. Franklin is considered the "Gem Capital of the World", where you can mine for precious stones, explore the natural beauty of the Nantahala Forest, check out the Little Tennessee River, or enjoy one of the many festivals put on by the town. Rainbow Trout, Brown Trout, and the elusive Brook Trout are all caught in rivers, brooks, and creeks throughout the mountains.
Dillsboro is about 15 minutes from the house. Enjoy the quaint shops, galleries, and restaurants. You can join a white water rafting trip on the Tuckasegee River, which offers fun for the whole family!

Visit Island Park, and you will not be disappointed.

Looking for adventure, Nantahala Outdoor Center is 40 minutes away. This is the place to go to kayak or visit Lake Fontana, fly above the trees with Mountaintop Zip line tours, or test your skills at the Zip Line Adventure Park. River trips and rafting are among the many things to do, and there are also packages that include multiple excursions. There are also 9 miles of biking trails, an outfitter's store, and dining options. Great place to take the family!
