Host was kind and responsive when we had issues with the heating. Place was nice and clean upon arrival with clear instructions to get in.

The set up was great. We pretty much just slept here and the beds were very comfy. The living room setup isn't great for lounging to watch a movie with the family, but we made it work. We felt safe and enjoyed the neighborhood.

The host was awesome with communication and the property was in a great location. We didn’t have any issues with access or instructions. I realize that not much can be helped about noise as far as others on the property but the people above us were walking at all hours of the night and the floors squeaked pretty loud. This happened all 3 nights
for that reason we would not stay here again. We didn’t get much rest.

The location in Oak Park was spectacular. We were walking distance form the Arts district on Harrison street as well as the CTA Blue line. Downtown Oak Park was a mile to the north. Private parking in the back alleyway was also a great amenity. We stayed with our teenage kids and had plenty of room. Our only issue was being able to hear the main tenants of the house above as they moved around. During the day wasn't an issue but a few occasions in very early morning (4AM) they were rather loud and dropping things. If you are a heavy sleeper, as my kids are it wasn't an issue.We would absolutely stay here again.

Cozy Home Away From Home

We enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend. Location was great with easy access to where we needed to be and close to the a Blue Line station for when we didn’t want to drive.

We stayed for a few days to move my daughter into her dorm at SAIC downtown. This basement unit feels a lot bigger than it is. It is comfortable, well laid out, and surprisingly spacious. The neighborhood is awesome and there are plenty of places to eat nearby. If I have one gripe is that the host should trim the greenery around the parking spot and, if possible, move the trash cans elsewhere (it was a tight fit). I would definitely stay again.

We had no issues and had a great time there. We were in town to see a concert and sight see for my birthday and were glad to have this place to call home for a couple days.

Not as advertised; no ice maker; no water filter as expected. Property was VERY DIRTY. I should not have to take Lysol wipes to doors, light switches, and other common touch point surfaces just to be minimally comfortable in the property. Very disappointing.

Great location!

This property is in a great Oak Park location, easy walking distance to a fabulous local breakfast at Publican as well as other restaurants. Also easy walk to Dunkin if that’s more your style. Host is very responsive and great to work with. Nice sized kitchen, comfortable beds. Not a lot of counter space in bathroom. Backyard is nice place to relax in the evening. Street parking is readily available outside of school pickup and drop off.

Great stay

Good and clean place to stay., Quiet neighborhood. The only thing is that the place is tiny and located in the basement, very little of day light gets in. If someone needs a good morning sleep, you got it. Other then that comfortable for 5 people. Thank you.

Wonderful destination!

The flat is located in a wonderful neighborhood with small, beautiful houses with wonderful gardens and some of them take the opportunity to point out poepleÂŽs rights. We loved to read the signs and statements. The flat was very nice equipped, had a useful kitchen, a very beautiful bathroom and we felt like beeing at home. Coming there from a long successful day on sightseeing in Chicago we loved it to stay there or sit in the garden or make a little stroll through the streets. Thank you for the this good opportunity!

Grungy. I expected this place to be reasonable. And with a few easy improvements it could be. The sheets were so pilled it felt like I was sleeping on sandpaper. The walls, light switches, and doors were just filthy. All of them showed how many thousand of dirty hands had been all over that place. It would take one deeper clean every few months from the cleaners to wipe near the doorknobs and around the light switches to make this place just fine. Obviously more work but a fresh coat of paint would do wonders. But instead I just felt like the whole place was icky because of it. Bathroom, floors and kitchen were clean. Location was nice.

Friendship getaway

Very happy. Property is the lowest level (basement) but has windows, A/C units and two doors. It’s a beautiful space although it’s not a space for tall people! Smaller shower but the water pressure is wonderful with a big shower head. The beds were super comfortable and the neighborhood was peaceful!

A surprise underground oasis

First impressions when you arrive? Ignore them. This basement apartment was clean, expansive, well stocked, centrally located in Oak Park, and a good size for our family of four. I thought it was a stellar little joint!

Lovely Stay in Oak Park, IL

The property was relatively clean, and adorably decorated. The host was extremely prompt with communication! The only downfall being I was unaware that the property was a basement apartment. The entry doors for both front and back doors were below ground level and hidden from view. For two females staying in the unit, I was a bit uncomfortable. If traveling with my husband, or a larger group, I would definitely return.

We did not stay there, the property was in terrible condition, the house was under construction and they did not notify me until the day of check-in. It is an old , dirty and smaller apartment, they charge too much for what it really is, the kitchen was very greasy, in the children's room there was a large hole in the window because the air conditioning was not screwed on, apart from being full of dirt and flies. It is nothing like the photos on the platform. The construction material was lying everywhere outside the apartment, including a cable hanging on the door, which we had to move to get in. I do not recommend it at all.

Disappointing
 wasn’t for us.

We expected more unfortunately - the property is a basement apartment which we knew from another review - but it was run down and wasn’t what we expected especially not from the pictures - it wasn’t as spacious as we expected. The ceiling in the bathroom is very low - so expect to knock it whilst showering. There’s no sound proofing so you can hear everything from the floor above, from the creeking bed to people walking around and dropping things etc, you can hear a lot! There is a shared washing machine and dryer but you do need to pay for it, it would have been nice to have been told this in the actual ad, the washing machine doesnt clean well - also bring your own detergent. On a positive, the neighbourhood is lovely and many local amenities nearby and about 25 minutes to downtown. Unfortunately, it wasn’t a five star experience for us.
